I was thrilled when I was Archiver's that Melody Ross has her own line out.. not Chatterbox (miss that line though)....it was pretty cute and was SO tempted to buy but kinda pricy and didn't really have a project to go with her stuff. But it was cute.. kinda 50s/retro stuff. Anyways, I read her blog on/off here and there.. and I from what I have read (didn't check today though, or about a week) that they were struggling pretty bad, but she has a great attitude about it. I know her husband had brain cancer and then she somehow lost Chatterbox along the way, etc.... but didn't realize she had the money to start again..

Just curious if I am missing a chuck of time or if anyone knows the watered down version. (Sometimes her blogs are very long and I don't have the time to read the whole thing)

Wow, I tried to read that blog post but it was by far the longest post I have ever seen and I just kind of zoned out in the middle. Sounds like she has had some major challenges.

She is designing for a company (which for some reason I can't remember the name of), not running her own company.

I've kept up with her blog. Her personal challenges have been huge! Her spirit is amazing. If I see her name on something, I will purchase it to support her. I loved the quality of Chatterbox products. I'm sure anything that she has to do with will be of high quality.

YES, her posts, although inspiring, WAY to long sometimes. I zone out to, which is to bad because they are pretty good. I WANT to read them, but totally by the fifth paragraph it's to much...she must have a TON of stuff rattling up in her head!!

I do want to support her and if I had a reason to purchase her line I will in a heartbeat.. but I can't justify 5.99 for some of the embellishments unless I KNOW I can use them. I just hope I can.. lol

Although without first-hand knowledge, it's my understanding that her poor business choices surfaced as as she was away from Chatterbox during the aftermath of her dh's accident that resulted in brain damage (~5 years ago). Many or all design team members & winners of the Chatterbox Make It Meaningful contest never received promised compensation for their services rendered. Rather, Melody Ross sold the company for personal financial gain & remained both the creative director (or similiar title) & "face" of Chatterbox without regard to her previous obligations.

According to recent reports, she's joined GCD as a designer & her first line will debut at CHA-W this weekend (despite already being available).

I've not read her blog in years (since she lost CBX & her recollection of events differed drastically from many others involved), so I'm uncertain her recent trials/accomplishments. Likewise, I've neither purchased CBX since then nor intend to buy her new GCD line because her style simply doesn't appeal to me.

HTH & perhaps someone can fill in more details.

Well, her nickname is Chatterbox for a reason. ;o)

The company is GCD (or GDC, I can't remember).

Wow that is an eye opener, if true. From what I thought she was involved in her husband's recovery so much that she wasn't paying attention to Chatterbox and then it went south... didn't know that she sold it for personal financial gain or the winners not getting their winnings.. that's sad.

I totally forgot about that contest.. Second year in (I think), I won a signed copy of the book.. Although most of the entries were way more professional than I could do, I loved looking through it.

It was ugly for a while. I'm not sure what happens to people when they make it big, I'm sure it's a big test, but I hate to watch the downward free fall that follows.

As previously stated, I wasn't a party to the situation &, therefore, am without first-hand knowledge. There were many complaints & discussions on 2Peas (GS & Pub boards) regarding the subject. My post summarized the consensus (as I recall) from the vocal DT & contest winners, which contrasts drastically with Melody Ross' account of events. Hopefully someone else who has more information will add details.

In looking at the CHA sneak peeks, they're showing Melody as a designer with GCD.

from my understanding, she didn't SELL Chatterbox and make a ton of money...it was more pulled out from under her.

As I understand it, she was taken advantage of unfairly during the crisis with her husband's accident and lost almost all she had including her company.

Well, I must shyly admit I'm not very familiar with Melody Ross' name but...this weekend I was at Archiver's and saw the Homespun Chic Collection (with her name on it) and just loved it - it is perfect for a project I am working on!

I don't really know much about her, so I have nothing to add about that. But, I was very surprised to see her new line. I got those same papers, with a little different color scheme, last year in a Scarlet Lime kit. They were 'exclusive' for Scarlet Lime by Melody Ross. Not really new or exclusive.

GCD isn't a new co. I remember buying some of their products awhile ago (beginning of2009/end of 2008) and when I got them I thought wow these papers remind me of the old Chatterbox which is alot of what I used to use on my pages...in fact I still do, I just don't post those as often.

Janet, I bet whatever you submitted must have been WONDERFUL... I was at a crop in Denver years ago and cropping at a public thing and there was a finalist with her book and it was amazing. The time that you guys spend on these books can't even compare to cost or prize. Not sure what happened and why she had the book with her. Either she was getting ready to send it in or just got it back.. I can't recall.

I saw Melody's stuff at Michael's last night to! They had just a little more than Archiver's did.
