I can't wait until they arrive! I used one of her sketches that she offers as a preview and my LO came together very quickly. I hope the rest of her sketches are as easy to use.

You won't be disappointed! I have all of her books, and they are just awesome.

I read this tip from another pea (sorry- I don't remember who, so if it was you please speak up so you can get credit!): she takes apart her books when they come in (they have comb binding that's really easy to take apart) and sorts them in a binder by number of photos. It makes it so easy to find exactly what you need!

I just found out about these sketch books last week here on 2 peas. Not to take any credit away from these books, but how are they different from the other sketch books that are out there? Please don't make me buy more stuff.

Thanks for the idea of pulling the books apart and putting them by number of photos. That sounds like the way I will use them the most.

I just got two of her books - shipping was so fast. The sketches are awesome and I love that there are so many with 4x6 photos. These books get two thumbs up. BTW - I got 3 and 4.

Congratulations on your order, you will love 'em and want the rest soon!

I have all the books and LOVE them all! I dismantle the books and remove the bindings when I get them. Then I sort the sketches into categories by the number of photos I feel I will use on that sketch. I put them into page protectors and then into a tabbed binder by number of photos per LO.

I use the Allison Davis sketches for 99% of the LO's I do. This weekend I did both one and two page LO's and found just the inspiration I needed - all from Allison's sketches.

Enjoy your new books!

I can't wait for Easter Sunday. You see, I gave up scrap shopping for Lent, and I have to say it is way harder than giving up Starbucks. I see at least a few of these books being ordered first thing Easter morning (probably even before Church). I mostly do 2 pagers, so I can't wait to get these.

I have books 3,4,and 5, and am on the waiting list for the DVD. I particularly like these sketches because they

-use a neutral background (something I personally like)
-she suggests types of patterns that best fit the design
-typically use 4x6 photos
-look GREAT when done

I also love checking out her blog. Allison is a wonderful teacher and once monthly she does variations of one of the sketches, and describes with detail new techniques she uses. (and she gives away a sketchbook that week, too! I won once, thanks again Allison!)

Every sketch is for a double page LO. However, it is easy to use just half of a sketch and create a wonderful one pager...I do it all the time! Sometimes I use just the center portion, also. The sketches really are very versatile!

Not only does she give photo dimensions, but also the dimensions for the various paper pieces that are used on the layout along with positioning information.

Jynx, here's the answer to your question about how the Allison Davis sketch books are different than others...

We provide the exact dimensions of every single piece of paper shown on the sketch, and the exact dimensions of every photo. There is also orientation info, like "striped strip is 2 inches from bottom of page." There is a "key" that gives suggestions for paper choices, such as small pattern, large pattern, stripe, etc.

All 30 sketches in each book are two-page layouts, and they include lots of photos, mainly in 4x6 and sizes that can be cropped from a 4x6.

Nope, they take other cc's but I was having another trouble with the online store...I wasn't getting to secure ordering, even though it was supposed to. I'm just going to call the store to place my order, the number is on the website. Can't wait, I'm ordering three of them...love that I can get that many for only $2.99 shipping!

I just got all 5 of them and I can't wait to use them- they are fantastic! I love that so many of them feature lots of photos- I order a lot of wallet size photos and 3x3 photos lately and she uses them a lot along with 4x6 photos on the same layout.

They are great! I also took them apart and put them in a binder- that way I can take out the page idea I want and stick it in one of my kits with my photos and scrap when I get a spare moment.

LOVE THEM!

Now I want to jump on the bandwagon- LOL! I've seen the books on the site before and thought they looked fabulous, but never made the purchase.

So, if I'm going to buy 2 books, should I just begin in order with numbers 1 and 2? Or, which are the two best books of hers that you all would recommend? I LOVE how simple these sketches seem, yet the final result is beautiful!

isabel, all the books have the same general concept -- 30 double-page sketches, all with 4x6 photos and other photo sizes that can be cropped down from a 4x6. There may be an occasional 5x7, but you can always use that space for smaller photos or for a collage that will fit in the 5x7 spot, or make a 5x7 mat for a 4x6 photo.

Thanks for your interest!

as I wait for my sketch books to arrive I used one of the sketches from their websites (they have some really good sample sketches) and I "test drove" another sketch and OMG! i think that's the quickest I've ever done a LO that actually looked decent!!! LOL! I don't know why this method works with my brain! I have all of BH's sketch books, Page Maps, but I've never really been to excited about the sketches until this book and I'm a 'seasoned" typical scrapper! Most of all I love that you can do a 2 page LO! that's what was always holding me up in terms of finishing a LO! I am so happy with the results of these 2 sketches I've "test driven" I CANNOT wait for my books to arrive and you bet I'm gonna order some more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so love these sketch books! I think I have almost every sketch book made these are the easiest to use and the layouts are so good when completed. They are also the quickest to finish, I have probably finished about 40 pages in the last 6 weeks which is alot for me.

Donna, I wouldn't worry about it (not at least yet) I think they may have been mailed out on Tues. by the looks of the shipping price it may have gone via regular USPS ground. Maybe we're just "anxious" to get them in our hot little hands!

it would be nice if they had a downloadable option to get them instantly!!!! I am hoping they will arrive in the mail tomorrow.

Thanks Sonicflame, It was so easy, I first went through and made page kits with Alison's sketch, her paper recommendantions photos of several events including a 10 day vacation and several other events. With the sketches the pages come together so quickly and look so good, these skeches really make scrapbooking enjoyable with no stress. Just what this hobby should be.

There are actually some examples of layouts made from the sketches on the website if you want to check those out for starters. Ali took one sketch and made four different layouts using the same original sketch. Here's a link...
