Mine was being redone Monday. There's some really nice holiday papers there and new doodads. I hope they get the new distress ink colors. |

THe one nearest me is completely restocked. There's an entire aisle of new items--mostly dimesional embellishments across the top and small racks of paper across the bottom. I didn't have a lot of time to look but it seemed to be holiday themes--Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc.

The only "new" stuff I have seen at my local, they have been putting up
more of their own brand "Recollections" stuff other than that pretty empty. |

Nothing new at mine yet either, but I'm waiting anxiously for the October Afternoon and Sassafras!
I'm not crazy about the "theme" idea but I guess anything is nice for a change. |

Sorry if this is really off topic, but...
I'm sad Michael's is going to organize by theme. That's not how I organize my supplies, so shopping that way is not at all enjoyable for me. It seems like when stores organize by theme, they are trying to grab the new or casual scrapbookers who only do albums for babies, vacations, and weddings -- and not the serious scrapbookers who do a greater variety of subjects with more supplies. So, to me, if a store organizes by theme, it tells me I'm not their target demographic and that they may not be stocking what I'm looking for. |

I went to a M's that was farther than my local one and while that one was being reset, I did manage to pick up MME's Penny Lane glitter cardstock pad and Anna Griffin's Peyton Collection ds paper stack. The AG paper was paper weight and not cs weight. I can't wait to see what else arrives.

I saw Nesties at mine today!!! Not a lot, it was just the side of an end. I think they had circles and scalloped circles, ovals and scalloped ovals, squares and scalloped squares, maybe rectangles too? And then Labels 1 and a 2-piece border die set. Less than what they have at HL and a lot of overlap.

I have to say that when I worked at M's, I wish it would have been organized by theme. There are so many people that come in scrapping specific events, and it would have been nice to be able to point to a section and say that this is the majority of the holiday, etc. items that we carry. Instead, they used to be spread all over.
Now, I don't think they are trying to say that anyone isn't in their target market - it is just a change, probably to see if things sell better this way. Who knows - in a year they could go back to the old way!
I like that the alphabets are all in one spot. Looking forward to all the new changes! |

and not the serious scrapbookers who do a greater variety of subjects with more supplies.
Many posts I've see here give the general impression that "serious" scrappers turn up their noses at Michaels stuff, that they're interested in only the latest 'n' greatest name brand papers. It makes sense that Michaels caters to newbies as people go into that store for one thing, notice the scrapping stuff up front, and probably get their scrapping start via Michaels.

I wouldn't come to the same conclusion. I think they're just trying new ways of displaying their items to sell as much as they can. In my opinion, no matter how a store organizes their products, it won't please everyone. I don't care for the theme set up either. It makes my shopping harder because now I'll either want to look at everything so I don't overlook that hidden treasure or be so frustrated that I won't bother so they'll loose a potential sale....

I agree with this. Archiver's organizes by theme also - and some of the items in "baby boy" can be used for anything. (Just an example.) While at their crops, I see items people bought that can be used for my pages and when I ask where they found them - they tell me places I would never have looked. Very frustrating but then again, you can't please everyone.

At one of my M's they had quite a few aisles cleared out and a clerk was restocking... From what I could see they had what *seemed* like an aisle and a half of embellishment type stuff like Jolees, Soft Spoken, and some new Recollections stuff. Not to mention the full row (2 sides) of stickers...
Blech!
They are definately going for the new scrapper because the seasoned ones use too many coupons...lol

I noticed the "theme" concept they are going for. I guess more like most LSS? I just can'tsee them carrying stuff I generally want. Besides basics like glue, blade refills, plain flowers, rhinestones, it probably wont appeal to me.
All about the coupons as well.
It;s kinda silly that I pay full price for paper and embellies at LSS but won't at M's.
I guess I am addicted to the sales and coupons. |

Still half empty at our M's. It's killing me. I want to wait, but then I want to just put in an order here at 2 peas! I dunno what to do.
I DO know that the second I order something from here, M's will be restocked. that's how my luck goes. |

I'm another pea who doesn't want M's organized by theme. I can understand why that would be easier for the employees or even the beginner scrapbooker, but I'd prefer it to be laid out another way. |

Yuck! I hate how they've reorganized the store!
I hadn't been into M's in about 3-4 weeks (which was not like me at all), and tonight I stopped in to return an item for my mom so I took a look around to see what was new to get with my coupon. I was so surprised to see that everything was moved around and into theme catagories. I didn't like it at all... I even walked out without buying anything... also unlike me! |

I can see their point into organizing by themes but I really think it makes it hard to shop. Archivers doesn't organize by theme but they do have a few themed sections...mostly baby and wedding. I get that because those products are very distinct and where else would they mix it in to.
Now I'm curious to see what my M's has done. |

My M's had some new Jolees that I had never seen---brown paper backing on them, and a lot of the stuff reminded me of the K&Co Handmade line, definitely different from what I think of when I think of Jolees. There were lace flowers, some white hard (plastic?) flowers and filagree things that looked like a take off on the Melissa Frances plaster like decorative pieces, etc. |

i went to a mike's near me yesterday and picked up some of the new papers they had by anna griffin (her latest valentine line) and cute cloud 9 halloween paper (if you like cloud 9's varnish they normally have on their papers), um i picked up a kit that was charlie brown themed paper and stickers for halloween, oh they had this line that is foiled that looks like the lucky line by lyb but it wasn't made by them but thought it would match so i got some of that also.It seemed like they were only partly done. I want to check another mike's tomorrow
