did anybody else realize that the quarterly is $80, the year is $279. thats a difference of $40 more if you do it by the year. how do they justify that? you would think it would be cheaper for the year price

I was totally interested until I saw the price. No way.
I actually really dislike the concept of "exclusive" cartridges because so often I see one I like but not enough to join a $300 club, buy another Cricut when my old one works fine or some other garbage. It makes me really dislike the company as a whole.

I'm not joining, but by my calculation, the yearly is cheaper by $44.97.
79.99 x 4 = $319.96 which is more expensive than the yearly.

your math is off
4 quarters in a year
$80 x 4 = $320 | |

I got this too! I did laugh at the top 3% considering I have a total of 500 reward points to date, I think they just sent it to everyone who ever registered. I've never paid more than $45 for a cart (and I thought that was high) Most I spend between $15-$30 on, so NO WAY would I ever do this. If they offered it for $30 or so a quarter I might consider it, but $80 is beyond ridiculous. I could easily buy 15 or more carts for the price of the yearly membership. |

I love my Cricut. Love it.
I'm sick of Provocraft, though. This circle thing is crap, the bundled with new expressions is crap, the certain store exclusives are crap. I'm about ready to call it quits on this company on principle. As much as it kills me, it might be time to look at other options for die-cutting. |

I would like to spend some of that $279 on some Lite cartridges but can't seem to find them in Canada.
And the cartridges that were on sale at M's this week I already had.

I am normally just troll on these message boards and dont post, but I cannot believe the negativity that all of you people have towards everything. If anyone completely read what was sent to you (if you were lucky enough to be invited, which I suspect most of you were not) there are many additional offers and events being reveled later, this was just the preliminary Charter Membership they are starting with. This may be something that turns out to be totally awesome, great, positive and fun. Ok so you dont want to join... then dont! this made me giggle, no seriously. I'm pretty sure anyone who has ever registered on the site got an invitation, PC just wants it to sound exclusive. Otherwise, I would not have gotten one. PC is "exclusively" trying to rip you off with $80 carts. |

Did you completely read the terms of service? Because if you haven't then I think you might be surprised at what will be revealed later. There is a lot of interesting stuff in the fine print. Someone over at the Cricut message board posted the complete terms of service. It is very interesting reading.
Seriously, I loooove my Cricut. I have the Expression and the baby bug. I own 40 cartridges, including 4 new releases. I don't have any toy in my life that I love as much as my Cricut.
And I'll repeat what I said earlier: Provocraft's marketing strategy is crap and they are trying to jerk us around. |

I received the invite and signed in to see what the cost was for items that remain to be seen. I think it's ridiculous that they would come up with something like this in a time when people are trying to SAVE money. If they expect people to pay that much they should be revealing the details NOW before we pay for the membership.

Pay $300 for something sight unseen? In this economy? Are they nuts? I don't mind if my friends don't envy my oh-so-stunning bracelet. What do they think we are? A pack of sheep that are just going to throw them our credit cards and let them shovel whatever cart they want to at us? What if you don't like that cartridge? Do you get the right to refuse or return it? Or do they think we want it just because it is "EXCLUSIVE"
Absolutely NOT. I'm insulted to be even offered such a thing. This was a marketing mistake. A huge one.

Have you heard of SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software? There's also another brand of software I heard is even more user-friendly. I'm sure another person on this thread knows the name of the company. You can cut ANY true type font and SVG files and you'll never have to buy a cartridge again. It will save you SO much money.
There are some cartridges I am still willing to buy, but NOT sight unseen especially when there are SO many other options out there.
Also, I joined A SCAL users group on yahoo and got lots of FREE files. No membership fees. Completley free.

I didn't get an email, don't have a Cricut so I'm not on any mailing lists or anything, but I think it's hilarious that it's an "exclusive invitation" Like you're SO special you are INVITED to spend $300. lol.
Anyway. Spending THAT much on cartridges w/out knowing what they're going to be? Or at least a few of them? That's what I got from the link. Kind of weird. Maybe $20 or 30 each I would risk that, but what if you already have them? Or absolutely hate them? Or at least if you could check ones off a list that you don't want? DH orders from an online shop that sells movies, and occasionally they'll send a free t-shirt, they ask you put requests and size info in the comment box. So something like that would be a bit better. Like he said last time he'd LOVE a certain shirt, so if they have that shirt in their selection of ones to give free, they'll send it, if not, they send something else. |

Maybe Provocraft should have disclosed at the time you purchased your machine that certain cartridges wouldn't be generally available.
It's a little late after you've already spent the money on the machine.
