morning ladies!

continuing the countdown - hang in there - 5 weeks, then we're done...

this week, we're organizing our negatives. er, i barely even remember the days of negatives. can you say all the childhood photographs that mama still has tucked away somewhere and, as much as i want to scrap my chidhood, they just haven't gotten dug out quite yet?

so, this week, i'm doing exactly what i've been doing for... well, awhile now: nothing. although, in the name of progress, s/o's dad not only brought me the name/number for the sherwin williams paint we used in that room, but also helped me patch the tears in the wall, so... now, i just have to clean up some around the edges and get my behind to sherwin williams.

it's not much, but it counts for something, right?

ok, so here's the link to wookiemouse's blog

question of the week: who's your favorite scrapbooker - they don't have to be a so-called celebrity.

right now, i'm loving may flaum and karen grunberg. mostly, b/c they're both such motivational speakers - i'm taking classes w/ both of them right now and i just can't get enough of the weekly audios/videos.

also, i found this last night: shimelle's this is why i scrapbook - check out her video.

oh, and the newest garden girl, katie watson - i spent quite a bit of time looking at her gallery as well.

it's amazing to me, now that i'm paying attention, the amazing inspiration that i'm finding online.

5 weeks? That's all?

Negatives: To be truthful, I haven't really thought much about these. DS2 photos are all digital (thanks to DH who bought me my first digi camera when DS1 was about 18 months). Which means, DS1's photos should have negatives hanging around the house someplace. Probably in the with the piles & boxes of memorabilia

Okay, so I didn't do much of anything last week. I'm hoping to turn that around this week.

QOTW: My favorite scrapbooker(s)? Ali Edwards. Stacy Julian.
Both of them have changed the way I look at what I do for a hobby. I had just about given up on the whole enchilada, when I took Stacy's class at our local scrapbook event. Finishline Scrapbooking. It was pretty much an eye-opener for me. Crop your photos, stick them down, fill in the spots with pretty paper, go back and embellish. TA-DA! Album done. I loved it! Who knew?!
I love the way Ali inspires me to look at my everyday. I would mostly scrap about moments, holidays, events. Now, I can look at my cup of coffee and tell a story.

My favorite crafter? Tim Holtz. That boy can really hit it out of the park. He's funny, entertaining, and a wonderful teacher. I'm always inspired by his '12 Tags of Christmas' series, and I've lots & lots of Ranger products in the house to prove it. One day, I'll play again.

Alright, its past noon. Time to get creative. BBL.

Good morning...er, afternoon!

Negatives?? Hmmm...I had mine professionally scanned a couple of years ago so I'm good this week too.

I don't really have a favorite scrapbooker. Karen Grunberg's "Embrace Imperfection" class is awesome, though!!

negatives......I guess the scanning will have to begin. I need to find out whats the lowest resolution I can scan them in without losing the quality of the picture so that it dosn't take years to do. Maybe I should read the scanner manual.

QOTW: My favorite scrapbooker is my boss, she is amazing, she has such a sense of design it just comes naturally to her. She'll whip up a page without spending hours thinking about it and it will look like it came out of the best magazines.

Boy, 5 weeks left and I don't feel like everything is where it should be yet. At the end of this challenge I woud really like to say all I have to do is paint. But I still have stamp issues, photo issues are still waiting to upload my negatives( I'll really have to commit to that this week), kits are a little helter skelter still, and ideas and magazines are as they were...unorganized and scattered all over the room. Next weeks challenge is still an issue as well.At least this month with the no spending I haven't had new products to keep up with. I will confess I did buy some black archival ink so I can use my copics on stamped images without it bleeding into my colors.

Yes, Karen Grunberg's 'Embrace Imperfection' class has been a real eye-opener. She's motivated me to just sit and scrap it. I can't help but be over critical about my pages, but I have to say, having her say "just glue it down", is really one of the things I used to NOT be able to do. Now, it's bad. I can do this.

so, laundry is, more or less, done. last load's in the dryer right now. dishes are also, more or less, done. last few are soaking right now.

noticing a pattern here?

sundays, it seems, i bounce from one thing to another all day.

right now, i'm kind of distracted by all the pretty things on this blog

ok...

lisa - i'm loving embrace imperfection as well. i signed up for her finding your way class as well. it's weird, b/c before embrace imperfection, i didn't even know who she was and now - i'm loving her enthusiasm and style so much.

mel - that's the one thing that's awesome - by the time i stumbled into scrapbooking, negatives were long gone... i think i have like 3-4 sets that are in a small expandable folder w/ my memorabilia - that's it.

jen - no worries! some of us - i won't name any names - are doing this for the second time. besides, i promised to keep a thread going after we're "officially" done w/ the challenge and i will. oh, and don't forget, organizing is a constantly-evolving process - you know that.

i finally figured out what i want to do for an inspiration book - i have an old 11x8.5 album - i was going to use it for an art journal, but i'm thinking i want all my albums to match, so... i'm going to take this thing - fix it up - and use it for an inpiration book. i can see this getting messy, considering it's a standard 20-page album. i really just need to get the stuff that's accumulating on the desk behind me put away somewhere, though.

alright, well... laundry and dishes are calling my name...

after that, i want to work on the inspiration book.

be back later!

sorry, jen. i realize you're frustrated.

would it help if i reminded you that no one is ever completely finished?

that organizing constantly needs re-evaluated and your organization is constantly evolving?

at any rate, again, i'm sorry. i wish i could come personally help you, but we both know that's not happening. lol...

Negatives are partially sorted with my partially sorted photos. They will stay that way this week I think.

QOTW-May Flaum hands down! Love her, love her layouts, love her classes. I am also enjoying Karen Grunberg's class although I am not sure I am taking the next one. Favorite crafter has to be Jennifer McGuire. I adore her videos. She is such an excellent teacher and is so creative.

Ok guess that is it. Went to Ms today with DH to pick up an embossing pad. While we were there he eyed the Cricut and all its gadget. Told me he should buy it for me because it was such a good deal and how great it would be for me. It would revolutionize my scrapping etc I explained to him that I had a Silhouette and an electric Big Shot and that I did not need or want really a Cricut. Meanwhile I am looking through clearance and he heads over to the die cutting machine displays and finds the Slice, the Expression and the Big Kick - once again I have to explain that I have machines just like that at home. I do not think he even knows what I have back in my room

Hi all!

Just popping back in to say, hum still working at the organization--but have been on a scrapping binge the last 2 weeks! I am so excited to have 40 layouts done and in albums! Whew, a few were just finish the darn things, about 1/2 were page kits from the last few years of CK conventions, and a few are originals from the heart!

Favorite scrapper? Becky Fleck and page maps!

Favorite paper artist? Tim Holtz hands down! Love his techniques--but not that much into grunge.

Negatives? The ones that have the photos scrapped are all in one negative box. The others are in with the photos in envelops organized by date. They are going to stay that way . . .

Goal for 2013 To scrapbook 1 Layout per week = 52

'12=60, '11=103, '10 Unknown but not many! '09=89, '08=198. '07=148

Sorry Cristi, it was said with a great sense of humour, I hope you didn't take it that I was angry, I'm not really frustrated, I've really enjoyed this organizing challenge and really hate seeing it being so close to the finish. You have a big heart, thanks for wanting to help me.

Boy, I'd better get more done this week than I did last week! Memorabilia didn't happen; I worked on alphas instead (didn't have much time to work on org last week). My negatives are mostly with their photos; there are a few running loose somewhere - I remember seeing them somewhere around week 3.
QOTW: Oh, this is hard; there are so many right here on 2Peas. I'd have to say Rebecca Sower is probably who I'd like to scrap like the most. But Cristi, you're right about Katie Watson's work - really good. And Tammy Tutterow. OK, there's probably something I admire about each and every scrapbooker out there!

Sounds like all of us are liking Karen Grunberg's "Embrace Imperfection" class; it's really the first online class that I've taken and I'm already behind. (I haven't made the little quote book yet.) But I like her approach.

Jen, You have probably summed up how we're all feeling - we all have "issues" with different supplies/tools. I still think I'm winning in the attempt to do better.

Cristi, Thanks for being our cheerleader!

Hey All! Glad that week is over!...I guess it is time to lock up Guilligan and get off the island !

Jen-I am a round 2 also...I guess it reaally isnt 2 years (it just feels like it after memorabilia week!!!), since the org challenge is 29 weeks, and a year is 52 weeks...I know that I am destined for round 4!

Cristi-thanks in advance for following us to round 4...I would never find our thread in the lists without you and your ~ before your name!

As for negatives. I am officially skipping this week. Before digital, we had advantix, and it is too expensive right now to convert. That means general cleaning and giving memorabilia dirty looks! LOL!

QOTW: AM liking embrace imperfection, and also like Tracy's Treasures (a regular blog here on the 2 peas daily blog postings)

QOTW: There are a lot of scrappers whose work I admire, but I would have to say that I really like the work of Kelly Goree and Lucy Edson. Kelly designs layouts for Basic Grey and Lucy designs for Webster Pages. Those are two of my favorite paper lines so I like to see how these two ladies use the products in their layouts.

With only four weeks left in this challenge, I need to get into gear and straighten the closet in my scrapbook room. My problem is that I just don't have enough space in there for everything I need to store.

Hey Girls!
Organizing is an ever-evolving process. I put a plant in my scrap area (so the cats wouldn't eat it, LOL) and it created this domino effect of moving junk around. WHY????? I was good with where stuff was before! GEEZ! LOL!
Oh well, DH says I'm addicted to organizing. I think he's right. I'd go to therapy but I think buying a couple of clearance bins at WM is cheaper, LOL!
I did finally get all of my die cutting accessories where they need to be and they make sense and it didn't cost me anything, LOL!
Have a great day!! DH is home today so I hope to get some more scrapping done. I've been crafting up a storm here lately!

I went through my upper closet space in my scraproom, got rid of a lot of stuff so I was able to move some of the fabric that I kept in some of my sterlite drawers under my work table, that I hardly look at anymore, up into that space. This ended up cleaning out 11 drawers, so then I moved school supplies out of the top drawer of my file cabinet(it was getting too heavy in there)into 2 of the sterlite drawers. Pens, glue, crayons, rulers in one and looseleaf, graph paper and binder tabs in another. Then I moved my Gazelle cutting matts and 12x12 page protectors into the file drawer(these were just tucked beside my computer tower). So now I still have room in that drawer to put anything I need for the Gazelle in there. I can now bring my painting supplies into my scraproom(they are downstairs right now). It feels so good to have my stuff more managable. I still have some more sterlite drawers to go through. I have a lot of storage in my room but most of it was filled with junk that I thought might come in handy some day.

I think a lot of this useless clutter was putting me at a stand still with everything else.

BTT from half way down pg 2!

Now that the tribe has spoken, and we are now off the island... good news is that we look so much better with a shower and clean clothes...bad news is...we still have the same scrap room with no million dollar check to put on addition to house it all (or hire a professional organizer)!

What are you doing this week if you are not doing negatives (No negatives here since 2002). Are you going to bring out that Creative Me and make something?

Anyone (besides me and Cristi...becuase she loves us) signing up for round 4?

Judy- Will be glad to have you! Oh, and congrats on your puppy winning! You must be so proud!

Jen- I have been scrapping using each weeks theme as a challenge, and let me tell you, some weeks it is easy, some weeks it is rough. However, I do have a lot more LOs than if I hadn't tried! Like how do you scrap negatives week?!

I must have lost some steam a week or so ago; I just can't seem to make myself do anything organize-wise. Well, I knew memorabilia was going to be a lost cause for now and went with eveyone to Amanda's island where Life was good. But this week I MUST knuckle down and get with the program. Sigh...

Amanda, How do you find "Tracy's Treasures" on 2Peas? I went to the blogs but couldn't figure out how to search for "TT". Yet another example of how lame I am with computer stuff. And if I can, I'll probably be here for round 4 too. Just to keep up with what everyone is doing!

Judy, Congratulations on the dog show; more pictures and memorabilia to scrap! Gotta get back into that room!

Daisymarie, Isn't straightening out a closet the most horrible job? I hate to tackle it - mostly becoz' I hate to throw anything anyway and I get so sidetracked. One thing leads to ten others. Good luck with yours.

Susan, How goes it with you? Did you get lots done on Monday?

Mel, Just like cleaning out the closet: move one thing like your plant and it creates an avalanche of rearranging! But at least you got all of your die-cut stuff together - progress.

Jen, OK, you and daisymarie have shamed me into at least looking in my closet. It's mostly clothes that I can't wear anymore(!) and overflow from other closets. I do have some sb stuff in there and some tins that I want to alter someday. Maybe I can concentrate on that this week - don't think there's any negatives in there though!

Cristi, Are you busy painting yet? If I lived closer, I'd help you. When the weather warms up a little, I have lots of painting I need to do here - I like to have the windows open a little.

Angel97701, You've done 40 layouts! How inspiring is that? Great job.

Lydia, Hope you're doing OK after your surgery. You've had a ruff winter!

Lisa and Leisa, What are you girls working on? Or are you avoiding it like me?!

Hope you all are having a good week and we all get something done! Maria

Hey everybody!

Well, the whole negatives thing ~ what are those? Just kidding! But with digital, we don't really have many to organize. The negatives that I do need to organize are from my childhood. I'll have to take a look at the prior posts (wookiemouse, etc.) to get some ideas! Right now they are in a box in a closet.

QOTW: Favorite scrapper? Well, I have a few:

We have so many talented scrappers here in Pealand! My current favorites are Garden Girls Katie Watson and Nichol Magouirk, although I am consistently impressed by the work of the other gals as well!

Amanda, thanks for the link - she seems to be a FUN girl like you

Hi Pam, yes I still have negatives; still love my regular ol' camera. I do have an inexpensive digital, but can never take decent pictures with it. Old school....

I'm feeling kinda negative about this week.

I have a bunch from pre-digital days, but we went digital when we had our first baby, so we didn't take nearly as many pictures then - mostly trips and such. And, oh yeah, our wedding. We were really lucky that our photographer was willing to let us have the negatives. And I have some childhood photos/negatives and some from my mom's family as well. But mom has most of those and I got rather overwhelmed when I tried to scan them last year.

Not sure I'll do much about them this week. Gathering them into one place would be a good idea, though.

We have guests this week - my BIL & niece, so I won't have a lot of extra time, but will try to get back to chat, if not organize.

Ok I am so tired of all you young ones saying you don't have any negatives that I could LOL!

Well yesterday I GOT RID OF SOME MEMORABILIA. How? I finished scrapping that vacation from 2003! Gave the leftovers to DH who hoards the stuff and it was out of my room! I was proud of myself!

Amanda - great card and great blog read again!

Maria -YES I DID! I finished TWO layouts! Started a third - just had flowers drying - I had to mist them Misting is so therapeutic. And I started a card - ran out of plain gold brads. This resulted in a run to Joann's after work today where so much was on sale that I bought 2 stamps...and a Sizzix die ....and stocked up on adhesive.

Mel - too funny! Where were you when I shopped online last night and at Joann's today????

Jen- Wow that was some organizing! I like your plan for round 4. Should we add that as a challenge for next time?

Lydia - you should sit down for minute and I bet you might find you are in pain and need something for it. Sometimes I just find myself feeling very negative or grumpy and if I sit for a minute I often find pain is the culprit and take some Tylenol or use ice or heat. <<hugs>>

Judy - I will be joining in round 4 quite obviously. And I have an outstanding order from Joann's on the way and one from Simon Says Stamp. No pp in any order though just mists, distress ink reinkers and stamps

Pam - glad you will be with us!

DaisyMarie - you should see my closet....actually you cannot because the door won't open with that large rolling cart in front of it!

Crisann aka Fearless Leader - WHERE are you?

Susan, I was joking - a play on words about what we're supposed to be organizing! I'm actually doing pretty good for pain now. The first 12 hours post-op were brutal, but it got better pretty quick after that.

What?! It's Wednesday already?! Oh, bother!

We were hit with yet another slam dunk of snow on Monday. The kids were off anyway for President's Day, so there was no crafty time for me there. I'm currently working on a swap (remind me not to do these anymore, BTW), and its taking all of my creative energies away. I want to finish some pages that I had kit-ted over the weekend, print some photos (Walgreens has a 50 prints/$5 going on), and put some stash up on the FSOT board. Hope I can get all this done, by Friday, when the next snow event is scheduled to hit our area.

Lydia- glad you're doing better.
Judy-congrats to your puppy!

Amanda, Crisann- yep, I'm in it for Round 4. Hopefully, I'll be thru all the paper piles by the time we get around to it again If not, well, I'll just deal with it. Same with photos, and ya know it, the memorabilia. Like you said, Mel, organizing is an evolving process. I'm going to evolve right into Round 4.

Off to try and get my scrap mojo flowing...BBL!

scanner still hasn't made it off my shelf yet. This is a major procrastination job, but I did make an art journal! Because I made so much room in my craft space I brought up my paints and brushes, so now I can do some painting as well as everything else.

LSS in Greensboro, NC is having their annual garage sale on April 2. Catch is that you get a credit to buy more stash from their store, within 90 days. well, better than just giving the stuff away!

What on earth are we doing on page two??

I'm working on our photo wall in the living room this week. Not much fun but needs to be done. Tons of photos in albums but nothing on the walls, LOL!
Which actually leads me to ask...

Do you all have photos up on walls? In frames around the house??? Do tell!!!

Mel, I purchased frames for our family room area- they have yet to get any photos in them or be put up anywhere, aside from the closet.
There are plenty of photos on the refrigerator, on the mantle in the living room, and in my bedroom- of all sorts of family events, birthdays, Christmases, firsts (walking, day of school). In my scraproom, I have 2 layouts in frames on my bookshelf. Both of my oldest DS. I had one of my youngest up there , and he would climb up and take it down, and stare at it. The next time I'd look, he'd have it in the scrap closet. I'm guessing he'd rather not have it up, so I've left it there. One day, I'll get around to making a different layout and put it up. Let's see what he will do then! LOL

Pearlygirlie - feel free to join in. We have 5 weeks left and then some of us are starting round 4 and some round 2 and some round 1. Crisann might call the next round the Hostile Take Over as some of us are planning to move our rooms to larger spaces

Mel - I have pictures in sort of matching frames on the walls of the stair case going into what was the basement family room but is now the man cave. Might have to rethink that but it looks cute. The rest of the pictures are in frames on tables and such. I am planning a vintage family photo wall in the dining room. I have more images to scan in though.

Luvs2lilboyz - We have more snow coming too

Jen - Making an art journal is way more fun than scanning!

Judy - that sounds like fun!

Today I came home from work looking for a picture of my girls when they were little and ended up sorting pictures for a few minutes Found 2002 in 1993 Got the rest of my glimmermists in ....I need more space for those gorgeous little bottles of glimmery happiness

Susan-so jealous of more glimmer mists!

Mel- That is a need to tackle area too. In every house but this it is the first thing that goes up. Here, they are still sitting in the closet!

First snow and snow day here since Thanksgiving, and all the kids want to do is play video games! DH (working from home today) is threatening to kick them out and force them to enjoy nature!

Judy - I think Crisann will need a major bribe to do this again.

Amanda - what is your favorite color of Glimmer Mist? And yes creative me has been quite productive! I have a layout almost finished on my desk, a layout with all the supplies gathered and one layout still twirling around in my head!!! I just have to work up the energy to get back there and finish! Work has been really busy!

hi ladies!

work all day/internet down all evening - grr...

um, round 4? the long version? are you serious?

i'll run a thread, maybe, next week and see if there's any interest, aside from just us - if there is, i'll do the long version. if there's not, we'll just keep a thread going - deal?

alright, since the internet was down all night, i started the "color bin" project - i've actually gotten pretty far. the problem i'm having is i still have 2 baskets of multi-color embellishments. lol...

i have 6 "color bins," for now:

pink/red
orange/yellow
green
blue
tan/brown
white/gray/black

note: i have like nothing that's purple. lol... maybe that's a good excuse to buy some purple embellishments.

eventually, i'm going to get some more baskets and expand it to my usual 12:

white
pink
red
orange
yellow
green
blue
purple
tan
brown
black
gray

so, what's in the "color bins": all my colored alphas and pretty much every embellishment - other than ribbons, fibers, & threads and primas.

i think i need to buy some more embellishments, in general. lol... i don't think i have too great of a selection these days.

i had to rearrange a bunch of stuff to get the right size baskets. lol... another reason i'm glad i picked baskets.

i actually - the weekend we went to michael's and panera - got 3 black canvas baskets from target, so... i moved all my acrylic/rubber stamps into 2 of those. the 3rd one has inks and embossing powders. lol...

i want to get some smaller black canvas baskets, like the ones i have and i want to see if i can find some more pink baskets.

i baskets - pink and brown and black ones...

well, have a nice night - i'll be back, probably, tomorrow.

Susan- currently my favs are strawberry shortcake chalkboard and turquoise blue!

Judy- I'll be here for the long 29 week version no matter what! Are you ready for your garage sale?

Mel-how goes the picture sorting?

Cristi-We need pics! Sounds like it is amazing your color sorting! I heart me a good (cheap) basket!

Lydia-Hope that the hand is feeling better!

No scrapping today . Tomorrow is our churches big 2 day crop. Not at all preped...and I have to help with set up! DD has first ever cookie sales in record lows and snow tomorrow too... It is definately negatives week. Ha! I guess that is what I get from Murphy for saying no negatives here!

Friday and no progress on negatives...but I did do a page kit from some papers that I wasn't crazy about and filed them in my "page kits" drawer. And I emptied out one drawer of papers to file elsewhere (in one of my rolling files). So that's a little progress...

Lydia, I hope your visit with the relatives is going well and that your hand is feeling OK.

Susan, Good for you on cleaning out some memorabilia; I still can't bring myself to look in those drawers! Sounds like you're getting lots done.
You all make misting look so good; I just can't get the love going with it and it makes me nervous to use it. Of the colors I have, I think I like the Kiwi the best.

Lisa, You poor thing - hope you don't get more snow today.

pearlygirly, Those negatives are really hard to tackle, aren't they? Most of mine are with the unscrapped photos in boxes. I'm not sure I'll keep them after I scrap the photos.

Jen, An art journal has to be more fun than dealing with negatives - at least you did something creative!

Judy, The lss garage sale is a great idea; you might find something you can't live without. Our not so lss (60 mi away) is having one, but with gas prices, I didn't get anything together to take this year. But it's always a good way to pare down your stash.

Mel, Well, I had a photo wall in my living room at our last house, but when we built this house, it was for an investment (what a BAD idea) so I haven't put holes into any of the walls yet. I do have photos sitting out though.

Amanda, Wow, you'll get lots done at a 2-day crop! The worst part is packing it up to go (and unpacking when you get home). And good luck to your daughter on her cookie sales.

Cristi, You sure have been industrious; your color baskets sound beautiful. And I'll be sure to check in on round 4 whichever way we do it.

Hope everyone has a good weekend; will check in later. Maria

Amanda - I just ordered Stawberry Shortcake and Trunk Blue which is a robin's egg blue-just gorgeous! I have a teal blue in Chalkboard which I love. Have fun selling cookies - so glad that is behind me. Being cookie mom was too much Saw your response on that jealously of craft rooms thread - I added my own. The nerve of that woman!

Maria - you made progress in the paper department whoo hoo!

Crisann - that sounds like a good strategy just not sure I can think like that so I have each type of item organized by color but they are each in their respective spots! Post pics please.

ok am supposed to be working from home

Jen - at least 10 inches of wet heavy snow! Was supposed to be 38 and rain but it is 30, snow with howling winds...! DH is trying to get my stuck car out of the driveway!!!!!!!!

Am working on BPC Got Paint! Love the idea of covering old ugly paper with gesso to give it a fresh start in my scrappy life! I might sit and watch TV while gesso-ing (is that a word) my reduced by still with me stash of ugly paper!

Here is layout I did for Creative Retreat Grandma's Garden
