good evening, ladies!

yep, i'm early - again. i'm planning on getting up at a decent hour and driving home to spend some time w/ mama. thor will come too. he'll spend his day playing w/ max and bailey. s/o has to work, so...

so, we went shopping tonight - stopped at target and found some smaller black canvas baskets. stopped at joann's and grabbed two packs of white canvas texture cardstock and 2 border punches - in stitches and notebook paper - everything was on sale, ofcourse.

i guess this is why we need a round 4, isn't it? lol...

when we got home - after we put heaps of bulk groceries away, since we stopped at sam's club too - i went back to my "color bins"...

so far, i have white, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, brown, black, and gray. i'm still missing purple and tan. i took a bunch of pictures tonight, so hopefully, i'll get those on my blog shortly here.

i still need to stop at michael's and pick up a few more of those big plastic jars - those are what i've been putting all my flowers in - there are currently flowers everywhere.

okay, sorry about that - i went off on my own little tangent for a minute there.

moving forward, this week, we're going to figure out what we're going to do with new items and how we're going to keep it neat. yea, sure! not at the rate some of us shop, right? lol...

here's the link for wookiemouse's blog.

question of the week: do you keep your new items segregated or are they allowed to mingle w/ the rest of your stash immediately upon entering your room?

i almost always put things away as soon as they cross the forbidden threshold...

happy organizing!

Cristi- have fun with mama!

QOTW: depends...whether or not I care if DH notices! LOL!

New stuff for LSS DT work is segregated unil my project is completed and I have been green lighted to keep the extra.

Just because Inner Hoarder likes to shop: Paper and some embellies (and definitely stamps) will live on my desk for a while. inks, mists, ribbon/fibers, cardstock (non pp), and adhesive usually get filed away. stickers 50/50.

Got an entire 8 1/2 x 11 album done for DS #2 this weeked. Froze my tushie off with DD in 25 degree weather selling cookies (sold 60 boxes, so DD gests credit for 30 as does the other daisy), and spent all today on my feet working at LSS. I am tired. maybe it is time to go back to the island! LOL

For me it really depends...if what I just went an bought was for immediate projects it's left sitting out in plain sight so that it doesn't get lost... I am actually encouraged to use my new stuff instead of just letting it become a part of my harding issues. If I can see it I will use it. I've really had the scrapping mojo this past week and have done several layouts which is great and I've been using my latest purchases but I have also been shopping my stash. It's great to find some of the older but great goodies I have. When I'm on shopping binges I do like to put stuff where it belongs (e.g. Thickers in a basket, patterned paper one one of their shelves, ribbon with other ribbon etc). My budget is limited so it's only 10-20 dollars worth of stuff at a time so doesn't take me too much time.

alright, "color baskets"...

"color baskets"

a closer look

see! i got something productive accomplished.

amanda - you just made me realize just how "country" i really am. lol... you know, my phone talks to me - it tells me who's calling. so, on the way home tonight, my phone starts talking - it says: "call from mama." and tim, being an idiot, starts mocking my phone - saying: "mama... mama... mama..." he's so immature sometimes. lol...

Crisann - WOW! Looks sooooo organized! Have you tried doing any layouts with this new system?

Amanda - You are definitely in need of the island - Cookies and work

Karyn - welcome!

QOTW- If it is for a project I am working on it stays on the desk. If I come in and have to make dinner or do something else right away the rest of the items stay in their bags/boxes. They are put away before I start working back there again. So far so good. Have two packages outstanding this week and I think both have glimmer mists in them Not sure where those new bottles are going. I may need to reorganize some reinkers and move those around. So far the above system is working and I have very productive in there despite the new onslaught of product. Definitely need round 4 though!

So far, knock on wood, most of the newest items to my arsenal have been used within days of my purchasing them. Punches and paper, a few random embellies, nothing too crazy. I had an Artbin in the garage, so I brought that in to contain my newest paper stash, until I can mingle it in with the rest.

My other BFF came by yesterday, after we spent the afternoon learning about stamping and embossing. We put together a few kits for the upcoming fundraiser crop and she decided she needed a Cuttlebug. I tried and tried to convince her to buy a BigShot/Kick, but she was determined to buy the Cuttlebug. I have the C, she could certainly borrow it anytime she wants. She had her mind made up though, she wanted one of her own. Looking it up on the J's website, I found that I could order the longer platforms and plates for my CB. That way, I can use the longer Quickutz & sizzlet dies with my CB (obviously why I wanted her to buy the BS/K, that platform is longer). Hoping the items are still on sale today, I'll get those for sure.

I was tooling around the board last night, I don't recall if I voted yes for Round 4, but I'm in it...promise. I feel better knowing that there are a bunch of us that are here for several rounds.

Hoping to work on some pages today. I'll post my mini-album that I made for my swap later. She hasn't rec'd it yet, but she's not on this thread, so I guess it would be okay for me to post it here, right? Or maybe just a teaser, in case she sees it in the gallery?!?

Cristi love the color bins. Yes, you have been productive.
Amanda good work getting that album done for DS2
Welcome, Karyn
LoveRibbons I need to break out the glimmer mists. I bought some smooch spritz on clearance at M's, and it's probably the only thing I bought recently that I haven't had a chance to play with. I want to spritz the red on white paper for the background on my son's Valentines Day layout. I probably could use it for the Christmas book, as well.

Off to make breakfast. BBL

question of the week: do you keep your new items segregated or are they allowed to mingle w/ the rest of your stash immediately upon entering your room?

My new stuff has to go thru a period of time in which it is segregated. That period of time depends on when I bring MORE new stuff into the house, LOL! I put the old away when I bring home new goodies. And since I haven't shopped in Feb (someone take my temperature, quicklike, LOL). I've had stuff "out" for a while.

Cristi - going to look at your color baskets as soon as I'm done posting this.

Amanda - Yes, you need the island...like now!!

Susan - I'll bet Round 4 will help you out with the Glimmer mist issue, LOL!

Karyn - Welcome!!!

This is my downfall! I tend to dump or stash my new stuff in the closet or on me desk (away from little fingers) then it quickly becomes clutter. I really need a system. All too often I can't find my new things because they don't have a home yet. I'm thinking that a basket or bin for temporary storage would be best and a schedule for putting it away with the regular stash once or twice a month. I think I want to reread Zen-master Wookiemouse and clean my desk off completely. I also really need a system for filing completed layouts, because they are another source of clutter in my room. I have piles on my printer at the moment (with the excuse that I need two hands to file them) - some need a date looked up & added, others a line of journalling written (another thing I can't do yet!). Sigh.

On a positive note, I am starting to be able to use the fingers on my right hand again to lightly hold things and have been off the narcotic pain killers since Thursday. Tried to take as little as possible, but those things still messed with my head. Good riddance! See Dr. GQ Wednesday for follow-up x-rays. Can't wait to get photos of them plate in my wrist so I can scrap this!

Cristi - love your colour baskets!

Cristi- LOL! Hope you hit him (in a playful, non-assault and battery kid of way)

Lydia- A cluttered desk! I hear you!!! You need a pic of DR. GQ too (for purely historical preservation purposes). At least it isnt one of those Drs that look like they could still be in HS. Pain meds mess me up too!

Mel- Congrats on the shopping self restraint. Dont worry. retail therapy will start up again when he goes tax free because...well you need to preserve the memories for him!

luvs2littleboyz-post here we wont tell!

Susan- have fun with your packages...I think if I get any more mists I'll need to re organize mine too!

Karyn-Welcome! you can get alot with $10 if you do it right! LOL!

Posted my negatives part 2 (round 3) no real organizing in it though!

hey girlies!

got up at like 8am this morning. drove home. stopped a j's - picked up 2 more border punches (effervescence and postage stamp). i found the cutest pink create sign - it matches my baskets almost perfectly. oh, and quite a few glitter/artsy-type buttons.

thor and i stopped at petco - got him, max, and bailey each a little, fuzzy, heart-shaped squeeky - pink for mama's little girl, red for her big boy, and purple for my baby - i thought it might give them something to do other than wrestle w/ eachother. well, needless to say, it didn't work. lol...

so, mama and i went through pictures - i brought home a ton of birthday and christmas pictures from throughout my childhood. oh, and a set of halloween pictures. i guess mama wasn't much of a picture-taker, other than holidays, but atleast i have some pictures now.

amanda - go you! an entire album? wow! and no, i didn't hit him, even playfully. he was driving - that, probably, wasn't in my best interest.

karyn - welcome!

susan - not yet - i still have too much stuff sitting on the desk behind me to even find my pictures. lol... i was actually thinking about typing my journal/uploading and organizing pics/cleaning off that desk tonight.

i want to try to do a LOAD through march. like that's going to happen w/ my schedule, but it's worth a shot.

lisa - do you like your cuttlebug? i have one - still don't really know how to use it. it was one of those impulsive purchases.

mel - how have you not shopped? lol... craziness!

lydia - you are such a good sport!

well, back to being productive. have a nice evening ladies!

QOTW: same as most of you, it depends on what it is ... if I need it for a project I'm currently waiting to do, it will stay on my desk. I also keep stamps/punches on my desk for a while so when I get a few minutes, I can play with them but also to burn into my brain that I have them so I remember to use them If it's cardstock/PP or embellishments, I try to put them away, but only because I keep everything out where I can see it.

Now that negatives week is officially over, I will pull my head out of the sand and proceed with organizing! I totally missed last week's thread. I'll have to go back and read what happened with everyone. Maybe next round I will face my negatives.

QOTW: It depends for me too. If I'm going to use it right away, I'll put it with that project. Otherwise, I just stick it in a bag and usually forget about it.

I guess that second method isn't working all that great for me. I do like the goodie basket Idea on wookie's blog. I'll be on the lookout for the perfect basket.

Cristi- love your color baskets!

Lydia - glad to hear that your are making progress with your surgery.

QOTW: I haven't been buying that much lately; mostly adhesive with coupons and a few stray sheets of pp/cs. Like most of you, if it's for a certain project, I'll keep it out somewhere close to my work table. Adhesive, mists (don't have many of those), flowers, etc get put away. The basket for newer items is a great idea (instead of the stacks of stuff that keep falling over).

Cristi, Totally impressed with your color bins! Everything looks so neat inside them; you did a great job. I'm glad you got to visit with your mama and brought back pictures. More l/o's to make! You had a busy week and you even took Thor shopping! Busy girl!

Amanda, You've been busy too! An entire sb completed - your camping pages are great(love the photos). And Girl Friday did a wonderful job on her donation jar. Maybe this week can be an easier one for you.

Karyn, Welcome to the challenge. And congratulations on getting lots of l/o's done.

Susan, More glimmermists! They might need their own cabinet! Have fun with them.

Lisa, You have me wanting to dig out some stamps and embossing powder to play with. I haven't used emb.powder for a looonnng time. If I remember, I didn't do so great with it! Some time ago, I bought some Tim Holtz distress emb.p. so maybe I should play with that.

Mel, At least you have a system - putting away the "oldest new" when you bring in the "newest new".

Lydia, It's wonderful news about your hand - and wanting to scrap it! And my new stuff quickly becomes clutter on my work table too. The basket idea might work.

Leisa, My head's been in the sand on Amanda's island for the last 2 weeks. I did manage to work on memorabilia a little bit, but zilch on the negatives. My big plan for this week is to find a basket or bin that I can put new stuff in to corral it instead of it being in a stack or sitting on the floor.

kware, Good for you that you put stuff away. Sounds simple to do, but it really is a big job sometimes, isn't it?

Judy, How are you doing? Been in that room? Haha...

Have a good day everyone. Maria

Oh Judy, I wish I did live closer - I'd help you clean. Altho if you saw my scrap area, you'd say "You're the last person I want to help me clean!" What is it about dining room tables? Until this house, I always had an eat-in kitchen and never really had too much of a problem with keeping it cleaned off. But with a dining room, it's like a catch-all. Right now, my table has a puzzle on it with no room for anything else.

Susan, Good news about the swelling; no stopping you now! Oh, and left a comment on your l/o. Great use of those bottle caps.

Have a good day everyone. Maria

Maria - yes, it's time to get off the island I guess and get some work done. I do have some baskets that I got from Target that may work for new supplies. I got them to store dvds and video game stuff. I'll try to get a couple pictures and post them.

My dining room table is a catch all too. We have had many puzzles on the dining room table. I currently have 2 shadow boxes for ds' world series pins that need to be hung, my ott light that needs a new battery, a forest biome project, Christmas cards and letters that did not get sent out in December , the kids' annual questionnaires that need to go in their school albums and a thin layer of dust!

Judy - I agree - you must go "up there" more often. I would love to help you get out from under all your stuff, but I'm too far! Drop everything and go "up there" now!

Susan - love your bottle caps lo! Glad you got a good report from the dr and can start exercising.

I'm dealing with house repairs for our house here in TX and one in GA that is for sell - water leaks and mold in both of them - YUCK!!!

I just ret'd from a trip into town and stopped by M's to try and find a container to set on my worktable to contain new items before they're used or put away. Couldn't find anything that I thought would work (that I could afford). So I guess I'll just dig around here and try to re-purpose something else. (At least I was thinking about organizing!) Maria

Just a quick hello to say I will not be "here" next week! We will be in London visiting youngest DD and accumulating more pictures and memorabilia for round 4

The other two and my mother are joining us! Will catch up when I get back.

Judy - cleaning out my room was THE best thing I did!

Have fun everyone!

Hey Girls!
I have strep so I've been becoming acquainted with my couch and the backs of my eyelids, LOL!
Oh and we also got a new beagle puppy. She's cute and she's mine. I named her Zoe (Because our cats are Elmo and Oscar and if you've ever seen Sesame Street, you'll "get it", LOL).

SO, hope everyone is at least pretending to organize! I haven't been up to my area in DAYS. I'll get up there this afternoon though. I need to clean it. It's a sty as is the rest of my house from being sick.

Oh and I did do a little shopping. But I didn't spend all of my "earned" cash so I don't feel too bad about it!!

Susan - Have fun in London!

Judy - I am South-East of RDU. I live on the coast. I would love to come help you organize too, I'd even make the drive but DH is deploying REALLY soon so I'm stuck at home with 4 kids and a new puppy until he returns .

Hey, organizers!

I've been busy here with life and all. The boys had an unexpected day off from school today due to the freezing rain mix that left all our roads a sheet of ice, and all the windows on the buses frozen over solid. Good thing, because my little one celebrated hard on his birthday yesterday. He didn't want to go to bed at all, almost as if he knew he didn't have to get up in the AM.

So, I've pulled out my scrappy stuff and decided I want to play this afternoon & evening. Might as well get the weekend off to a crafty start. I figure I'll organize, as I go. Wish me luck.

Once I upload the photos of my mini-albums, I'll post a linky. The one I received in the swap is super cute. Can't wait for all of you to see it.

Later!

I feel like such a slacker, but I haven't had the time and/or energy to get anything done in my scrapbook room for the last three weeks. I'm teaching a couple of classes and spending lots of time on prepping and grading. Thank goodness after next week I have spring break.

I'm hoping by week 29 to have my room looking as good as I can on my shoestring budget.

good afternoon ladies!

this has been a crazy week... tuesday night, i had a microderm appt - my "weekly facial" - lol... thursday night, i got my hair done - yes, i took pics and yes, i'll share later - a body wave, though, if you're curious. a future professional did it at the school i graduated from. all the learning leaders were trying to coerce me to take my state boards and i'm seriously considering it. oh, and the internet was down thursday too. last night, we had a dinner w/ s/o's family. today, i'm going to get my hair trimmed b/c we didn't have time to do it thursday night.

i have so much cleaning to do, b/c i haven't had a chance to do anything all week, but s/o's going on second shift next week, so... i should be around alot.

have a nice day! i'll be back later.

Please no more Girl Scout Cookies!!!!!

Have decided I am a slob, and my scrap room shows it. No energy to clean. PA me is in charge, and I am spending the day sitting on the couch and playing on the laptop/ watching tv. I am channeling my inner sloth. LOL!

here is new stuff part 2 Ironically with no new stuff, as we had to replace both the rear tires on my mommy mobile (aka the van) on Thursday.

Next week is fonts?! Is that seriously its own week? This is totally enabling PA Me.

Hey, Amanda. I thought of you today at the P.O. when I saw a lady with 10 flat rate boxes shoving Girl Scout cookies into them. Didn't think of this til now...Do you have any Samoas or Tagalongs left?! DS hasn't hit me up for a box (then again he hasn't seen any Girl Scouts around either), and I know when he thinks of it, I won't find any. Just wondering....

DS and I went to see 'RANGO' today. Not impressed. went to a library book sale- found books for my friend who is having surgery on Thursday, but none for myself Guess I'll have to see if I have any $$ left on my amazon GC and find books for my Kindle.

Well, I'd better start doing something scrappy today. I sorted thru a couple piles the last 2 days...again, I need to print photos. It never ends, I'll tell you.

DaisyMarie- there are no slackers here. That's why we're all doing round 4. No worries. We will all have an organized room...eventually.

Leisa- how are the house repairs going?

Ok, off to find some scrappy goodness to play with. BBL!

Hi everyone! Been semi-overrun with everyday life this week. Saw Dr GQ for follow-up Wednesday and got the OK to start physio and a smaller, lighter splint for when I want to support my wrist. I'm finding that I just don't want to wear it though. Huge progress in what I can do with my right hand now - write, type, grip lightweight things. The difference is huge. Start physio Monday and I really can't wait to get going and DO more! The best thing is I can use my camera again. Next best thing - I can use my distressing tool again, so scrapping isn't so frustrating. Pages just don't seem right to me without distressed edges.

As for organizing, I repurposed a basket for 'new stuff' but I think it'll also include old stuff that I want to use. Might be a recipe for a mess. Now I need to find a home for my Cricut cutting mats, etc. I also have a box on the floor for page kits and pages in progess.

Is anyone else doing Karen Grunberg's Finding Your Way Class? Cristi, you mentioned doing LOAD this month - does that mean you're in FYW? I'm holding off on doing the LOAD until I have better strength/flexibility in my wrist - maybe I can start next week during the 2Ps crop.

Susan - have fun in London! Colour me jealous!! Love to travel, just not the same with little kids.

Amanda - it's Girl Guide cookie season?! Must hunt some down. Might mean a visit to my LSS next week! They usually sell them.

DaisyMarie - I'm not ready to have the kids home for spring break! It's two weeks here and it won't be warm enough to play ouside yet.

Maria - I'm trying to repurpose containers for all this organizing. M's is too far away and I'm too impatient.

Well, I still haven't found the right container for new stuff - nothing wide enuff for 12x12 papers. Still looking...

Leisa, If I get to Target, I need to check their baskets/containers. I didn't think of T when I was in town the other day. Hope your house repairs are coming along OK; they can be a headache.

Judy, Did you get your paperwork done? I think that next to cooking and housework, I hate doing paperwork the worst. That's probably why I have stacks of stuff that I need to go thru. Maybe in round 4 I should concentrate on org. the rest of my life!

Amanda, Your "roses" story was so uplifting; you really should be a journalist you know. And your paper roses were beautiful; I'll have to try them when I get a little more time (and have saved up a few cuss words to see me thru.)

Susan, Oh how jealous I am! Have a wonderful time in London with your daughter and family. Hope your daughter is doing well. And we'll want to see your London sb!

Mel, Boy, you can't catch a break, can you? Hope you recover quickly. Congratulations on your beagle pup; aren't they the cutest?

Lisa, How are your mini-albums coming along? I'm afraid my projects have been at a standstill for a couple of weeks; can't seem to get back in the swing.

Daisymarie, You'll get LOTS done this coming week. And we're not slackers - we just get our energies "re-directed" sometimes!

Cristi, Hope this next week goes well for you with s/o on 2nd shift. Bet you'll get lots accomplished. If you take your state boards, will you be a hair-stylist? I'm always jealous of folks who can do "stuff" with their hair - mine does what it wants and it never wants to be pretty!

Lydia, You have really come along quickly! Using your distressing tool!

It's time for next week's challenge so I guess I'd better look for that post. Have a great week everyone. Maria

Here's the mini-album I made for my swap partner
pet album

I used my stash on this one...loved the way it turned out. Although, it's nothing in comparison to the mini's some other scrappers received. Wow! There's some talent going on in that swap board. I really was intimidated at first! I hope she liked it. Haven't heard from her, but she's busy working a ton! I'm her swap partner in the mini-bucket swap, too. I bought most of her goodies to put into the bucket, but haven't had a minute to decorate it yet. Better get to that today, since I'm thinking about it.
