hi ladies!

i absolutely cannot believe it's like 5pm already - i got completely side-tracked cleaning - i'm the type of person that makes an extremely simple chore overly-complicated. i ripped-apart my entire living room. then, i got irritated because we had indoor-outdoor carpet (just so the dog had somewhere to play, because we're in the process of remodeling). the living room was really crappy hardwood - i don't mean the type that you can sand and refinish - nope, this stuff's, probably, older than i am. for some reason, though, seeing as how the dog destroyed said carpet, i thought it'd be a good idea to pull it up too. needless to say, i got the carpet up, all the staples out, and started vacuuming and scrubbing the hardwood - as in on my hands and knees, and now - well, now i'm tired and i'm not sure i feel like finishing it. lol...

at any rate, this week, we're organizing our embellishments.

here's the link to wookiemouse's blog.

question of the week: what's your "go to" embellishment - the embellishment you use on every layout?

I have a 24 jar spinning spice rack I bought a few years ago at Sam's Club. Each jar has my small emellishments - brads, butttons and such - and they are labeled with the color of the contents... I always do ROYGBIV so I have red, pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, white, clear, gold, silver, pewter, brass, copper; Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter; then sports, baby, love. I used to have a fourth but I broke one of them. Its handy and colorful and I love it!

QOTW: I always have a button, brad, or flower on a layout.

Have a good week organizing

Ooooooh, embellishments. I have so many of them. Let's see....I store my brads and eyelets by color, then shape. If I bought a set of brads that has multiple colors, then I keep that particular set together. I know, it might not make sense, but it works for me. My eyelets are stored by color, like my brads, in ROYGBIV order. Oh, the brads and eyelets are stored in small clear containers that fit into a clear box (they are sold in the bead section of J's.) As for my other emblellies, I have them in plastic craft bags in a box. This is the part of my emellishments that needs work. I need to figure out a better way to store them.

QOTW: what's your "go to" embellishment - the embellishment you use on every layout?

I guess that would be brads or eyelets. I use the brads for holding papers or pictures in place, to just embellishing my layouts. Same with my eyelets. They are just so simple and easy to use.

Well, I guess that's all for now. Y'all have a good week.

Buttons, I absolutely adore them!

I think I may have combined a few weeks together. After I organized my paper stash a few weeks back, since I had already done my photos I went ahead and resorted / reorganized all of my embellishments by color.

Love this system! I have a white photo box for each color I separate my paper by: pink, blue, brown, black/white/gray, green, orange, purple, and red, then Disney/theme park and Christmas/Special. So each paper divider has its own white photo box with embellishments.

I have all of my embellishments; ribbons, brads, buttons, fibers, stickers, flowers, etc. In their coordinating boxes.

My Special part of the paper and box are for actual "lines". I very rarely by lines but I do have two of them so I put those in the "special" category so all the matching stuff stays together.

QOTW: I tend to "under embellish", so I really don't have anything I use on every layout. But if I had to choose, I'd say brads.

Several years ago I reorganized all of my embellishments by color or theme. I essentially set up my own version of a Scrap Rack, with 12X12 3 ring binders holding various types of Cropper Hopper storage pages. I've kept up with this system pretty well, and since I tend to scrap by color this works great for me. For this week, I do have some random stuff I found that needs to be sorted: a bottle of Primas, a box of fibers, assorted MM metal plaques that seem to have appeared out of nowhere...

I'll post a picture of my system later in the week. Happy organizing, everyone!

Oh, and does anyone use eyelets anymore? I have a bunch that I'd be willing to part with for the cost of shipping!

hi everyone, my brain has not been on organizing at all, we had a couple of nice weeks of weather so I have been outside the last two weeks and now its back to winter temps I think I need to move somewhere where once summer begins it stays. I've been excited to start some of the plans we have for fixing other parts of our house that the craft room has been put kinda on the backburner. I'm stil crafting and making messes though.

My embellishments are done, I moved them a few months ago from the converted closet to my narrow shelves, I'll try and take pictures soon once I've cleaned up a bit.

The embellishments that I have to say I use the most is flowers, I've been making a lot of mini albums lately(or should I say started) so I'm always putting flowers on them.

If I get a chance this week I think I will continue on my kits and projects. I do not have a good system for them so thats what I'll do.

Howdy all!!
question of the week: what's your "go to" embellishment - the embellishment you use on every layout?

Hmmmmm, I would have to say buttons or chipboard. One or the other is usually on every layout I do.

My embellishments are OK for now. I have color bins. Everything consumable item is sorted by color and put in them. When I get my stamp sets unmounted and stored, i will be removing the jars from my color bins and store them where my stamps currently are. Every time I take a ribbon jar or button jar out of a color bin all of the other junk falls in and I can't put the jars back. Very frustrating.

So have a good week. I'll be unmounting stamps until I'm 80, LOL!

Trying real hard to keep up! (However, My blog is running a full week behind right now...oops). With end of the school year stuff, camping, and trying to run the shoe...Ahhhhhgggg!!!! Sorry.

QOTWepends. I go through phases. I think right now it is buttons. It used to be rhinestones and pearls. Brads before that. When I get too into something DH puts me in rehab, and then the ADD part of me finds something else to replace it. LOL!

Good morning,

finish week 7 and 8 on saturday. I grab all my embellishment and put them in basket so i can sorted them. My buttons are already sorted by colors. I did have my prima flowers in its own bottles but when i moved i decide to dump them all in a big jar. well, i hated it so i'm going to sort them by colors. Same for brads and eyelets. will sort them by color and by type (brads or eyelets, then big size brads will be in its own jar) I also set up color bins-- and bins for themes such as baby, christmas, etc. i have small stash of rinestones which will be sorted also. I only have one bottle of dew drops (blue/brown). lol that's all i can think of!

right now my color bins are diaper boxes--until i figure out what kinds of container I want to use. I would like to have them open but with limited storage this is not possible so i'm thinking 12 x 12 boxes to label them and stack them up will work for me. I have find green pineeor boxes online I haven't been able to find them at Micheals. they only carry black, or black/white design. lol

I decided on green as my color--more like willow from Karen Foster snap box. I started to purchase her storage boxes but they discontinued them and they're my fav i haven't been able to find any on ebay or others store to buy more I got lucky few years back to to get couple.
well that's it for now off to do cleaning...

Hey, everybody!

I survived hosting the fundraising crop, so now I can concentrate on the organization of my scraproom.

QOTW: My embellishments are all organized by manufacturer, with the exception of the ones I use the most. Brads, ribbon, and buttons are in Craftmates, tote(s), and Iris cases.

Happily this is "stuff" that has stayed organized thru the years.
Now, back to paper sorting...

I blogged with pics of my embellishment storage:

Embellishment organization

Didn't get around to organizing the few odd embellies (and the TWO bottles of Primas...I thought I only had one but another mysteriously appeared...and, no, I didn't buy it!!). I may not be around much next week, as DD is graduating next Saturday, but after that I will be an organizing fiend!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

PS we are a family of 8 because DH's brother is in Iraq and SIL, 5 mo old colic-y baby, 22 mo terror (SPOILED...how do you underline?), 2 peaing male cats, and dog (who just came back from the vet today positive for worms...eeeewwwww! ).... are staying with us for support.

translation...I have no computer time as I am running 2 families and SIL is running none because "deployment is hard" and it is easier to watch TV and skype Iraq. (totally being bitter here...Mel, you know that it is hard as I do...) However, that is why I am here... and unfortunately computer time is scarce! I am trying to plug in and be cheerful and embrace my Lady of the shoe status with a happy heart and alot of febreeze...as I think SIL's cats peed somewhere upstairs again that is not a litter box! LOL

Okay, can I just say I am a few weeks behind already in organizing? I'm going to blame it on end-of-year stuff with my kids school, lol! Please remind me NOT to sign up as room mom next year!

My go-to embellishment is probably bling, although buttons are starting to show up a lot on my pages too.

LOL - I realize I'm bumping this thread up from the depths of the MB, but I found THE BEST containers for embelishments

They are Sterlite bins that are clear with lids. They hold quite a bit, stack great and don't have too big of a footprint.

I found them at Walmart for $5 each. They could be cheaper in the US maybe??
