Hello - I've had my Silhouette Cameo for about a week and absolutely love it!! But tonight it started making a whirling, almost grinding sound when it was cutting. I don't know if I need to replace the blade or something else. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with it?

Thanks so much!
Vicky

PS - I'm planning on calling Silhouette tomorrow.

They are pretty noisy when they cut. They make noises, but I don't know that I would describe it as grinding.

I actually had the same thing happen with my SD not long after I got it, and it was almost like it was struggling to make it across the page! I thing I disconnected the power for a few minutes and was lucky enough to have it running smoothly when it restarted! I would definitely call Silhouette if the issue continues!

StreetScrapper - yes, that's what's it's doing in addition to the whirling noise. It was working fine when I first got it, but it has changed in the way it sounds and the way it goes across the page. It's like it's struggling to cut and the cuts aren't 100% clean like they were before. I want to get it fixed ASAP as I love this machine!

That happened to me once with my original machine. Turns out it was "thinking". I turned it off and back on and it was fine.

Mine makes an out of tune violin sound when it cuts.

Given that you have only had the machine for a week, it's still under warranty. I would definitely contact Silhouette and see what they say ... expecially because your cuts aren't as clean as they were. When my SD was doing that, it didn't affect the cuts at all... it just sounded like it was about to die ... or that it was struggling to figure out what it was supposed to do next!
