(I posted this on the CHA board, but really meant it for here.)
For me, the next best thing to shopping for scrapbook supplies, is shopping for ways to ORGANIZE those supplies!! So, I'm giddy over Cropper Hopper's newly designed paper holders that will fit in an Expedit both the regular way or on it's side.
There is a little blurb on their website, but the pictures are of the original style holder:
Cropper Hopper Website
Also, there is a youtube video that shows the new holders, but it's from a different website so I won't link it here. Just search for "Cropper Hopper 2012" and you can find it.
Giddy, I tell ya!!

YAY! It was a pain in the butt to have to cut my old ones down to fit, and even more annoying to find they 'just' didn't fit on their sides. I'll be stocking up as soon as I can find these! |

Very glad to hear this! I have the old style right now and have been holding off getting more because I'm switching to the Expedit when I finally get my scrap room organized better.

Some times there are Ikea shopper/delivery services in your local area that p/u and deliver to you for a whole lot cheaper than Ikea. I just googled and stumbled upon one for my area that will p/u for about $60 I would then have to pick it up at their storage facility. Gas alone will more than that. I don't even have to pay until they transfer the product. How cool is that?

Has anyone gotten the new ones yet? I'd like to know if its worth it? I'm in the midst of re (?) organizing my stuff. Challenging as I do not have a crafting room. I'm trying to hide it in my apt, with my apt turning into one big scrap room. That's not the look I am going for at all. |

I changed to the new ones. I recently moved and have a scrap room now and wanted my paper in my Expedit. They definitely fit. I do wish I could put them upright but if there is a large enough strip on the bottom of the paper, it is slightly too tall to fit the organizer upright in the cube. So I have to have them down with the paper facing out. I hope that makes sense.
It bothers me because it's not my preference, but it's a minor bother in comparison to the fact that I didn't have a cabinet to put them in at all before these came out! |

I agree with the PP. Some of my paper sticks up and I don't like lying them on their sides. Just depends on the brand of paper really.
And I know I'm being picky!, but they also have little cut out circles on the edge of the front which I don't like much either.
I'd still buy them because I like having paper/cardstock closer to my desk.

I'll third the annoyance that I have to lay them on their sides. Of course that's more an Expedit problem than a Cropper Hopper problem. It's just the manufacturer's strip that makes the paper too big.
One thing I would say is to be careful about ordering online. I was going to order from Joann's, but noticed that the photo is of the old cropper hopper - so I held off (maybe they have old stock or haven't updated the photo but its not worth the risk!). I got mine at HL, one at a time using a 40% off coupon.
Still way happier with paper on my Expedit shelves instead of sitting on top of it or in Iris boxes.

I am in the process of changing mine out. I haven't experienced the problem of my paper sticking out over the top. I do put the branding strips at the top so I don't really care if it sticks over. I also like the holes on the side. They are made for gripping when you slide out the paper holder. I like to take mine out when I am flipping through. It makes it do much easier to get it out. I tend to pack them in tightly.
I did notice that putting in the old style dividers especially the inserts that hold more papers (I use them for keeping collections together) stick too far over the top - too tall. I just had to put them by themselves in the cube. |

The old/original CH will fit the Expedit if you lay them on they're back.
The exact inside measurement of the Expedit is 13 1/4 x 13 1/4 depending if you correctly assembled it. |

I like the new style. It's easier to "thumb " through
The papers to see them . Mine leave about 3/4 of
An inch opening above them in my expedit
And I have no issues at all with them!
Definitely an improvement IMO.

Can anyone tell me how many of the low profile CH holders fit in one expedit cube?
The holders are 2.625" and the expedit is 13.125"
So my math says 5?
Anyone know from experience, I have to order online so I want to order them all at once.
Thanks,

Just redid my craft room with an Expedit and deliberately put $$ in the budget to buy the new Cropper Hopper paper holders. I love them, they fit great, had no problems with any brand of paper fitting upright.
While mathematically 5 should fit - I wouldn't count on it. I have 4 in each of mine with a bit of room left over. I just tried to get a fifth one in. It went in, but everything was VERY tight and I had a dickens of a time getting it back out again. And mine aren't full. If you fill them, it's going to be extremely difficult to fit 5 in there, if not impossible. |

ON TOP of my Expedits (I'm too OCD to lay them down, so I do a lot of dusting)!
I don't have a HL close to me, are the new ones available at M's and Joann stores now? |

$350 Ikea shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It took me 6 months but I found the 8 cubes on Craigslist. I live near OSU and college kids love these. I got two for $15.00 each and two for $20.00 each. No damage at all. When you search use these words, Ikea, Expedit, bookcase, bookshelves, cube, cubbie, shelf, shelves.
I wanted the extra large one (25 cube) or the 16 cube BUT now that I have moved twice, I am so glad I didn't get any of the large ones. The 8 cubes are sooooo easy to move. Where I am now I would have had to sell it and get the 8 cube.
Think about the size before you purchase. Once the large ones are put together you have to stand them up to move in a pickup truck or move with a Uhaul. For the eight cube I fit 4 in my mini van! |

I have several of the new design and they are great. The packaging is different; the newly designed items are boxed in purple and blue with the words Cropper Hopper in a white circle, the old style has just blue. The Ms' in my area do not carry Cropper Hopper products; ACM has just started stocking the new design but they are just filling in as product sells - no deal on the old stuff. I ordered mine from CreateforLess.com. You can select either style (old, new)and the prices are pretty reasonable. They also offer a variety pack sampler of the different vertical storage items.
As an FYI - the embelishment boxes from the Cropper Hopper designer series fit the ClosetMaid units.

Also, hobby lobby paper studio boxes approx 12 x 12 (not the photo boxes) that reg price of 6.99 are on sale 40% off and these fit nicely in the expedit.

You can only get 4 in each cube. As I said in my other post, the insert folders don't really fit (too tall inside the paper holder) so I have those on the ends.
I got mine from Archiver's but you have to be careful, because the have both the old style and the new style. The old style has a straight edge on the side while the new style has a curved edge. |

I don't mean to be disagreeable, but I have to say that my experience with the paper holders and inserts has been different. I have the dividers, page makers, and paper files. I use all of them in the actual paper holders and they all fit beautifully in my Expedit. They have room to stand straight up and they don't bend or touch the top of the cube. Renee, you mention the old and the new. Maybe your inserts are the old kind? My old ones didn't work in the new paper holders. I had to replace everything - but it was well worth it! |
