A male platonic friend ( someone I met years ago but we are only friends getting to now each other better, NOT romantic)asked this Q
"If you and I were to watch one movie together, and you could pick any movie, what would you pick, and why?"
There has to be some inspired answers. I can't think of a single movie or why someone would watch them. I know they aren't into Sci_Fi, but ....
Can you tell me your fave movie and why you might watch it with someone??

One of my all-time favorite movies (it's silly, I know) is Sandlot. I love to watch it with my teenage granddaughter. She not only plays ball, she *gets* it. We have so much fun quoting lines, and goofing off, and just all-around love watching it together.
Once, in San Diego, we went to a movie-in-the-park event to watch Sandlot. I thought the organizers where going to throw us out. Everyone around us had a good time, though.
I haven't watched Sandlot without Anya in years. |

I wish I had any movies I really liked. I never was a movie watcher at all.
It is neat that you have that connection with your Granddaughter.

One of my favorite movies is "Dead Poet's Society." I was an English major. Plus ... um ... a young Ethan Hawke, mmm kay?
But I look forward to watching it with my kids when they're teens. I think it has so many important messages that I want to share and discuss with them.
And Lizzy, I just love your Sandlot story |

Definitely "The Count of Monte Cristo!" It's my favorite movie of all time and I want the world to see it. It has adventure, sorrow, triumph, romance and more. Plus my boyfriend stars in it....Jim Caviezel. I call him my boyfriend because I love him so! |

"Secondhand Lions" with my DH and DS. My mom gave my DS the dvd as a gift for my DS's 8th birthday, because Robert Duvall is her favorite actor of all time. We watched it as a family and loved it! It has everything that anyone would love in a movie. Adventure, romance, comedy, drama and a good message. And I swear, each time I watch it, I notice something else in a scene that I hadn't noticed before. It was on one night last week on cable and we stopped what we were doing and watched it together once again. |

cropduster, Second Hand Lions is our fallback when we (Anya & I) can't watch Sandlot for any reason. I can't watch it without crying at the end, though. |

For me the first movie that comes to mind is National Treasure (or National Treasure 2). I am always entertained when I watch these movies and the hubs likes them too.
Otherwise we have very different taste in movies, but these ones we actually both enjoy. |

Okay this is so off from what everyone else, as it is not your norm.
But my family loves zombie movies. Its family bonding for us.
We re-watch them over and over. Sometimes we will have a zombie marathon. We quote movie lines.
Hubby and I love Dawn of the Dead...the original. We watched it when we were dating.
Another of our favourites are the Adam Sandlers movies...yup we quote them as well. Extended family and my daughters boyfriends, just look at us strange.
There are so many times my daughters quote the movie lines in sinc. at a restaurant or in normal conversation. They have got quite a few raised eyebrows from others, lol.

My favorite movie is Footloose (the original of course!) and the reason I would want someone to watch it is if they haven't seen it. I adore this movie for so many reasons. It kills me that my sister hasn't seen it. Especially since I bug her so much about it!
There have been some great movies listed here. I'm totally a movie person. Love them. If the new Les Mis was already out, I would say that. I know it's going to be amazing!!

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. I love this movie and rented it last weekend. It was a limited release (1 theater in all of Kansas City) and went straight to DVD (which I am going to buy). I love Dames Judy Dench and Maggie Smith and all the other English actors in the movie...I am such an Anglophile. I would watch it with my daughter cause she gets it...loves movies and would get something from it if only just pure entertainment.
Steel Magnolias...the cast is the best and all by myself.
Funny Valentine with Loretta Divine and Alfrie Woodard, a really powerful movie with a sweetness of characters. |

I like to watch Silence of the Lambs with my husband. That was the movie we saw on our first date. I loved the book and had already seen the movie but DH didn't know that at the time. I was happy to see it again.

I like watching Jane Austen movies with my 11yr old DD. We have seen several versions of Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudiced and Emma we each have our favorites but quickly snuggle together up with a bowl of popcorn anytime they are on. Nobody else in the family seems to like them.

Two movies come to mind:
"The Crow"...DH and I watched it on our honeymoon and watch it every year on our anniversary.
and
The Five People You Meet in Heaven...I love watching it with my boys to show them that every choice we make in life has an affect on others, even if we don't know them. And yes, I always bawl like a baby, lol. Love the book and the movie. |

Iron Man is always a good one because it has so much action but really funny dialogue and engaging story! I am so excited for Iron Man 3, Robert Downey jr. is the best.. This article talks about filming and possibly replacing Scarlett Johansson

"Extremely loud and incredibly close" with Tom Hanks & Sandra Bullock. There is a great young man that plays the main character. The movie will hold the interest of both males & females. My husband rarely watches an entire movie but he was glued to this. marjan

My absolute favorite movies are Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea. I grew up watching them with my mom. Now I watch them quite often with my daughter (she's 3 but always asks to watch it). My husband will watch it with me sometimes if he's feeling sentimental. I can never get enough of those movies. |

Add me to the Zombie movie fan list. My DH is huge into zombies. Tonight we watched Zombie Apocalypse.
I have all guy friends. We are huge movie buffs. I watch a lot of platonic friend movies. Anything cult classic is a good bet. We watch a lot of sci-fi, & horror.
Guys do actually like some chick flicks like Steel Magnolias. My friends bawled. If the girl is really hot in a chick flick they will watch it. Titanic and Kate Winslet is a sure bet with my friends.
My friends are huge sports buffs but they don't really like watching sports movies. I adore sports movies but hardly watch sports. |
