I meet once a week for breakfast with some ladies that I used to work with. We always exchange Christmas gifts and I try to think up something unique for them each year. I saw a YouTube video on how to make a picture frame using 1 sheet of 12 x 12 double-sided scrapbook paper. I thought it would make a great gift with a photo of us girls and the frames, of course, can be embellished in a variety of ways. I've also considered making these for some close friends but I've been wondering what everyone else will be making. I'd love to hear all your good ideas!

Yes! Almost all of my gifts will be mini albums, banners, December Dailies made from old children's books...or something of the like. I am low on funds this year so everyone outside if my immediate family will get a handmade gift. I have already started making them. |

Well, now you need to share the link for the frame- I'm curious.
I've used my scrappy supplies to decorate hair things for DD- bling up hair pins, etc; a calendar for SIL; tutus and fairy wands for my neices; post-it note holders; making bunches of cards for a friend who ministers to the military; a "white board" (kind of) for a highschooler in our church; for decorating jars of soup and cookie mixes; etc, etc, etc. |

Well if I can keep my mouth shut and not tell my dd, I am making these heart photo boards. Basically I bought in the clearcase aisle at Joann's a pack (3 hearts in a pack) of Cake or Serving boards that were heart shaped. She has 3 boys so doing one for each boy. This is the first one I have done
Hearts
I also have a album I want to finish up for my oldest dgs. We went to the antique car museum last year and I have been working on it ever since.
I haven't decided what to do for my co-workers yet..the girls I am closest too. |

I have been making minis for my parents the last couple of years. This year I'm making minis of all the grandkids with little quips on each one and pictures. I'm excited about the project! I need to start talking to my siblings about it, cuz I'll need info from them. But I already made the albums a while ago, I just need to finish them with current info. |

I was searching pinterest for homemade gifts because I feel like I always make my mom and mil albums every year. They have cute ideas- you could look there.

Sorry...this is the first time I've had time to check my post - it's been busy this past week. Linky to that YouTube video, please?
Well, now you need to share the link for the frame- I'm curious.
Here is the paper frame tutorial. Thank you for posting the other ideas and links; I'll be checking them out. I like these frames. The actual item measures 6 x 6 and holds a 3 x 3 photo. Does anyone have ideas what I can use for a frame stand? I've been to Ms, As and a few other stores but I haven't been able to find just the backs of the frames with the frame support (the piece that allows the frame to sit upright). Does anyone know where I can get these or have suggestions on making them? I might just fool around with some chipboard and see if I can make one.
I'd love to hear from others who are making homemade gifts this year for Christmas.

I have been thinking about making a mini for my sister. We recently went on a girls weekend trip to Portland, OR. And calendars for MIL and mom. But I always end up spending way more on paper and supplies than if I bought them a non-scrappy gift, so I haven't decided.
I'm going to shop my stash (very small) to see if I have enough stuff to make the cost more reasonable.

Like Janet, Last year I made each of my employees a "Stationary/gift Box". I took 10 photo storage boxes from M's (on sale 6 for $10), then I filled them with Scothch brand tape, Scissors (Surprising good ones from Dollar Tree), A large roll of Curling Ribbon, a dozen homemade gift tags and a dozen homemade cards. I made the cards and tags from my stash. I included all types of cards Birthday, Thank you, Mothers and Fathers day, etc. They all seemed to love it and say they use it often. I find if you keep all the gift wrapping supplies hidden in a photo box...the kids won't lose your tape and scissors..if your kids are like mine! |
It was fate that I would enjoy paper crafts...my name is Sharmon (like the TP)!
