Any thoughts on it? It seems like a newer version of the Silhouette SD.
I had the original silhouette and upgraded to the Cameo.
Absolutely love Silhouette America Electronic cutters

I am thinking of I should get this for my sister..hmmmm anyone else getting one?

How is it different? I looked at it but didn't reallt understand what this does that the SD and Cameo don't.

It has the same power as the cameo, but 8x12 size like the SD, so it's less expensive.

I'm really intrigued by the new cutter. I've been wanting a Cameo for a while now, but one of the reasons I've held off is the 12x12 size. It just seems like it would take up a lot of space. I'm going to keep my eye on the Portrait, but I'm a little disappointed at it's price point. It seems like I see people here getting the Cameo for not much more pretty often.

I don't see any advantage over the sd.
The cameo can not cut chipboard or grunge board, so it's no more powerful than the sd. (edited for clarity).

I was thinking that. But, the retail price of the Cameo is much higher, so maybe the actual sales price of this will lower as well.

I like the flexibility of the 12 x 12 machine. And it is much smaller than my old cricut, so I am good for now. If you really had a condensed space to work in, I can see where this would be a good buy.

I'm not even remotely interested in this. I bought the Cameo and I own the Cricut E and Gypsy, I can already cut smaller, but I love cutting larger. My money will stay put. I was hoping they would come out with a machine that cut thicker materials or as someone mentioned in another post; I 'd love from them to create a machine like the Gypsy or an APP to create away form the computer with the software this would be way more revolutionary then creating a machine cut smaller. Been there done that with the Cricut machines, I'm not interested.

Oooo I'm glad I dropped by the boards before I bought the cameo. Space is limited for me so I'm seriously considering the portrait.

ETA: Ok, I've already changed my mind. I just read how the Cameo allows some cutting when detached from the computer. I'd really like this feature. So I'll sacrifice the space for the Cameo instead.
