Wouldn't it be awesome if Silhouette made something similar to the Gypsy for the Cameo (and now the new Portrait)? The one thing I loved about my Cricut was the Gypsy, it was nice to sit on the couch and design my image and then cut it out at a later date. It would have to have WiFi to connect to the store but I think it would be so great! It would also be great for crops because you wouldn't have to lug your laptop along with you. I wonder what something like that would cost... |

Very good point! Too bad there isn't a way to make tablets compatible to the Silhouette...it would be awesome to design on my Kindle Fire. Maybe they could make a Silhouette Studio app...that would be awesome!

I could have sworn I got a survey a while back about having an app available. I answered YES! Absolutely! So, there really might be something in the works.
I think it is a great idea. |

An app would be awesome. I guess the cutter would need to receive wifi somehow, or some sort of cable.

I agree That's why I kept my E and Gypsy because I love this capability. I would buy a tablet, if they made an app.

That would be brilliant, being able to use your Kindle or iPad. What a great idea, hope influential people will read this thread and be inspired!

They have that feature already... It's called a sd-card. The "memory-cards" from cameras. You simply create your files, name them accordingly and then save them. Then at your crop you insert the sd-card and chose the file you want to cut and voila
I googled Silhouette Cameo Sd card and the first one I stumbles on was this link. I know she is cutting vinyl, but it could as easily be cardstock or patterned paper

An android tablet app would be great!
ETA:
FYI, the new silhouette portrait does not have a sd card slot.

But the PP said she would like to be able to sit on her couch and design like she did with the gypsy. The sd card feature is great but the design has to be completely done and sized before it goes on the card and that can't be done on a tablet or phone. |

I do it on the Silhouette screen next to the cutting screen on my laptop, then save it until I am ready to cut it out. I have done this since Nichol Magourik showed how in the first lesson of the diecutting machine series she did. |

This is what I do and it works out great for me.

I heard they are working on a Silhouette app for cut and design. I heard that Cricut is doing the same thing too. I don't have any specifics. It was one of those whispering gossip items a friend told me. |

I do this all the time on my iPad...
Simply buy one of the remote log in apps... I use Splashtop and LogMeIn.
These apps allow you to access your laptop or your desktop remotely from ANYWHERE... I simply open my silhouette software and design away. I do this sitting on the couch watching TV, have done it at work during lunch, and have done it in the car (as a passenger, of course... I have 3g on my iPad). I recently received an email sharing I could access my desktop remotely via Splashtop without wifi. I didn't have time to read "how" to do this, but the few lines I read made it sound simple.
I love being able to access my desktop remotely... not only can I utilize my Silhouette software, but any other software, pics, movies, etc., that I have on my desktop via my iPad.
I highly recommend investing in one of these apps... I have had mine for a long time, but I believe Splashtop is a little pricey. However, I think LogMeIn may be free.

Wow, thank you Happyinmyroom! I actually have Splashtop on my Kindle Fire. It was the free app of the day on Amazon several months ago and I got it but never thought of using it for my Silhouette Studio! I'm going to try this out today. This is why I love 2peas! |

(and then double that because I am one of the more techy peas around)
Thanks!
