I don't even know if this word exists, but it perfectly describes what I did yesterday: Slapped down about 50 pictures onto about 12 pages.
This weekend we were RVing, so I brought a stack of nearly 200 photos from a 2010 vacation. Usually I spend a couple of hours per page, with about medium level of embellishing. With this project, the pages will be simple, with only a handful being really embellished. Mind you, now that I'm back home, I'll do the titles and journalling on the computer, print them out, then add them in later.
So, does anyone else "slapbook"? If so, is that your norm or only occasionally?
Mind you, even with "slapbooking" I was still measuring everything. I'll let a 1mm difference go, but 2mm+ needs to be re-adjusted.
Perfectionist Slapbooking.

I have before. Usually with a vacation. Like Disney parades. Or when I insisted not only on taking a picture of all the murals made of photos at Disneyland, but also on printing them out because I liked them. A lot. You can't see the background paper on those two pages. |

There's also crapbooking. You know when you're cropping and have been for hours and it's 3am. You look down and see your page and realize you are no longer scrapbooking but crapbooking
Not that I've ever done that |

That's the word I use, too, when I just want to get the pages done(usually a whole lot of pages!). It's not like you can't go back and improve them, so, what the hay--slap 'em down.

When I am time-poor I am happy doing what you call bouts of Slapbooking-- great word! It is better to get those photos down.
I just read the "show us pics of the contraptions you use to organise..." thread & this one-- if I combine my thoughts on both threads together, I declare I am an expert at Scrapcrooking-- organising, reading blogs, online shopping, Pea'ing... it all counts, right? I feel like I have scrapped but on the other hand if I had focused my energy maybe I would have produced a masterpiece!

I love all the terms you guys have come up with: Slapbooking, Slap N Crap and Crapbooking I'm going to use these from now on, because yes I slap down some LOs and just feel happy that they are done. Before I just called them my LOs that were not my Master Pieces, but I like your terms better.

All the time especially for the pages I feel need to be recorded but I'm not inspired to make them great. I do this a lot with nature pictures when on vacation. What is there to say? What is there to journal besides the place, date and ummm it's pretty? |

I'd say it varies. Maybe about 50% of my scrapping is slap booking. No glorious epic poem about eternity, no fountain of wisdom to pour out for future generations and no Pulitzer prize winning story to capture. It is a picture of my daughter, she is 3 years old, it is summer...the end.
**ETA** the other 50% of my scrapbooking simply has more time spent with the layout and might include a paragraph about what the pictures are from.

That is a lot of mine. Even the ones with a little more journaling isn't a whole lot beyond that. Definitely not profound. My style probably looks like slapbooking but it certainly doesn't happen that fast! It actually takes a lot of thought and effort. |

I love Scrapcrooking! So, what do we have now:
Scrapcrooking: Scrap shopping, organising, cyberspace, but not actual scrapping.
Crapbooking: Ugly pages.
Slap 'n' Scrap / Slapbooking: Slapping down pictures without much else.
Any others?
Actually, I consider some of the layouts in magazine to be "crapbooking", i.e. anything that looks like it was done by a toddler.

Yeah, I am guilty of all three, from time to time. I find that if I'm doing "events" I'm more likely to slapbook - just get 'em on the page and be done with it.
Crapbooking...that's what happens to me when I try to scrapbook after a while away. Layouts look like crap.

I love this term! That is definitely what I've been doing with the last little bunch of pictures from a cruise we took that I have just not been inspired to scrap. I just want the pages done and in an album before we head off on our next one, and I find myself not wanting to "waste" all my good embellishments and paper on them. Slapbooking is also a great time to use up your scraps! |

Thanks,RnKMom! My scrapping buddies now all use that term-- chatting to each other on the phone about all the stuff we plan to do which eats into the time we have to actually do it also qualifies, so we remind each other "Scrapcrooking...." & ring off.

Guilty of whatever you call it, and sometimes it's well thought out slapbooking! Actually, I guess most of my pages are a few steps above that. One, for instance, maybe a step above that I made the other day follows an old BH sketch, mats some of the photos on pattern paper, and the PP has butterflies so I also cut out one of the butterflies and used it on the opposite side of the two-page spread. Another one uses another BH sketch, but hey, I actually misted the two pages before I glued the pictures on. |

Any other multi-tasking scrappy terms we need to invent?

Scrapswatting:
When you spend half your scrapping time swatting away the cat, the dog, or the child.
Or when you are working on a layout and the aforementioned cat decides the pen* you are journaling with is evil and must be swatted. *Pen could also be: ribbon you are layering, twine you are using, heck, even the ATG gun sitting innocently.
There's also CrapStamping at my house: cat walks on ink pad and then on layout. Cat can be replaced with child's fingers.
I'm starting to see why I get slapscrappy.... |

Omigosh, what is up with cats and scrapping??? Everything has to be swatted/pawed/mangled... while sitting on the layout!
So, would that be called ScrapCatting or CatBooking or what???
I'm dying laughing here.
