I love the idea of mini-books, but haven't created many. I'm considering asking for a Zutter Bind-it-all 2.0 for my birthday. If you have one, do you like it and use it? What is the difference between the Bind-it-all and the Cinch?

Thanks for your thoughts- much appreciated!

I have a BIA and LOVE IT! I know some people have talked about how hard it is to use but I haven't had any problems. I also took a hint of a tip from someone and took a piece of 12 inch chipboard and made a cutting guide. I punched it down the entire side. I had no problems after that making sure things were centered, etc.

I don't know the differences, if any, between the Cinch and BIA. The BIA does a rectangular hole and the Cinch does a round hole. You can use and 2.0 wire in either.

I have tried both BIA & Cinch. The quality of BIA is way better than the Cinch. IMO The cinch seems to be to plastic vs. bia sort of steel base. KWIM? other than mini books I have made so many projects like

Binders,
Mini note pas holders,
coupon book,
My two children's artwork book with pockets.

So many projects possibility is endless, you wont regret owning either or the binding machine.
Good Luck with your decision!

i feel the opposite than thirtyonegirl. i make lots and lots of mini books. that's all i make and just about all of them are wire bound.

i've owned both the BIA and Cinch. i had the blue and pink BIA and the pink and teal Cinch. to me, the Cinch is a far better binding tool and far worth the money you pay.

some reasons i don't like the BIA: i've had pieces break off the BIA. the BIA is not very steady when punching chipboard (which i punch alot of). not very good customer service from Zutter.

to me the Cinch is a better binding machine because:
-it has a wider base so it is much more sturdy and steady than the BIA
-it can punch a longer surface area than the BIA
-the handle is more ergonomic
-there are rulers and guidelines printed right on the machine for better placement of the holes
-you have more options for how many holes you want to punch and how you want to space them out
-you don't have to hold the machine while you punch down (like you do with the BIA because it's so unsteady). try punching through thick chipboard and see hard you will have to struggle with the BIA
-you can punch through thicker materials with less effort
-the newer Cinch can bind small and large wires
-it has a slide out tray for collecting your punch holes. on the BIA, you have to shake the entire machine over a trash can to get the trash out
-it has a strap for holding down the handle when not in use

Don't have the cinch but I love love BIA. The square holes and smaller size are what drew me to it. I don't find it hard to line up but I usually only make smaller books. However I did re-bind a yoga book to make it wire bound and that worked great!!.

Good Luck!!

I have a BIA and I love it. I like it better bcause it seemed to take up less space. I have not had any problems with using it either.

I have a Bind-it-All and love it!!! I have used to make lots of minis, I usually make minis for my DD soccer team every year, which means making 18 of them, and they come together so easy with the Bind-it-All and wires. I do not have a cinch, and do not see that I need one, my Bind-it-All does me just fine.

I have the BIA (the blue one) and have used it for making minis and I like it just fine. I can't compare it to the Cinch because I don't have and have never used the Cinch.

I also found a YouTube video that shows you how to make a binding using cardstock and chipboard. While I like the wire binding, I think I like the handmade binding better. It seems to make a sturdier book, IMO.

I've been using my BIT for over 7 years now and It's one of my favorite tools! I can't really compare it towards the cinch, but I believe the cinch is a little more expensive.

I have both. I like the Cinch for punching my holes, but I like how the BIA closes the wires better. I think the BIA does a much better job at it.

I make a lot of mini's and other projects with the bind it all.
I really like this machine.
I bought it way before the Cinch came out, so I can't tell you which I prefer as I have never used the cinch before.

I usually make a template of the size book or project I am making to make sure the holes are evenly at either end, before I punch the actual project.
