I bought an album that it the size of a license plate. I want to use an actual license plate for the cover. Do you have any suggestions on what tool I could use to punch holes in the metal?

Thanks!

The cropadile should punch thru metal.

Oh'wow I'm so glad I opened this thread! I never thought of doing this! I just recently had to change my plates. I've had the same personalized plates since I was a senior in high school & got my first car. I wanted to get the disabled plates with the wheel chair on them so I had to change my plates . Hubby hung them up in the garage but I think it would be so cool to make an album with one of them.

Also about putting a hole in them. I would think that if you don't have a crop a dile you could drill a hole through them.

Thanks for the replies... Guess it is time to get a cropadile.

I am wanting to make a license plate album for my DH (to showcase his hot rod projects). How will you attach the binding/what will you use?

The Cinch will punch it too,, if you don't want to punch one hole at a time. I made a one of these recently - here is a look at it. I really had a lot of fun with it- even though I didn't think I would at first.

I bought the déjà views c-thru album and am going to use the acrylic cover for the back and This disney license plate for the front.

The album uses three binder clips on the side. There are images of albums using the top holes and string together with ribbon.

This album is going to be a Christmas gift for my kids to announce our upcoming Disney World trip.

Lovely ideas ladies!!! My personalized tag says Poison (the band) and have a couple of older tags sitting around I had never thought about using and this gives me a great idea for making an album of some of my photos! Ty

Thanks girls- it took me a while to get into the groove with it. I have been saving Texas stuff for a while because I knew someday I was going to make a Texas album,,, but for some reason I just could not get going on that one!! Once I got into it I seemed to move along pretty well. I was pretty happy with it in the end.

I have had license plate albums for quite a while. My friend's husband makes them and turns them into 3-ring albums. They are very nice and quite fun! I haven't done it myself because I am not sure how to cut the metal. Any ideas? I would be afraid it would then be sharp and dangerous. He uses something to make the edges smooth.

All plates have 2 holes so why not just use 2 binder rings?

I wanted to say thank you for telling me about the cropadile. I finally bought one with my M's coupon this weekend. It punched through the license plate like butter. Even DH seemed impressed and he doesn't show much interest in scrappy things.

Unfortunately my youngest isn't wanting to sleep tonight so I didn't get to work on my project like I had hoped.

Awesome Ginger! How did you cut the plate and how are the edges?
