Who else does 8.5x11 pages? I'm just curious. Are we a dying breed? I still LOVE this format!

I use both sizes equally depending on the story I want to tell. I feel I focus more on the story when I do 8.5x11. And I use12x12 when I want to play with embellies or have more than 3 pics.

Interesting. I can definitely see how that would be a good plan. My style is pretty simple, so that's probably why I like the smaller format! LOL!

I love 8.5x11. Have for years . I do plan on trying 12x12 soon, but won't be giving up 8.5x11 because of it.

That is the format I use, other than for my recipe book, which is 8x8.

I only scrap 8.5x11. Sometimes (due to number of photos or really great 12x12 background paper I want to use) I think about scrapping a 12x12 page, but I always decide against it. I'm in a college dorm, so storage space is extremely limited; I just don't have the space for a 12x12 album when the 8.5x11 one fits so nicely on my bookshelf. I'd also have to spend money I don't have on 12x12 page protectors, etc. So I just stick to 8.5x11. I love it, anyway! It's a great size to showcase one 4x6 photo, which is what most of my pages have.

I do, always have, I am pretty sure I always will. I find 12x12 really difficult to work with, but I have no idea why.

The main size I have always done is 8.5x11. I occasionally scrap 8x8. I've only done 12x12 for a gift.

I'm a simple scrapper too.

I do! 12x12 always felt too big to me. I love other people's 12x12 pages, but whenever I try one myself it just feels awkward...and since I usually type my journaling, it's nice to be able to print it directly on the page (without having to buy a large format printer).

I've always done 12x12 but have been wanting to do the smaller size for quite a while now, especially for my kids and grandkids albums. I can get the page protectors, but my problem is finding the actual albums.

It's been suggested that I just use a 12x12 album and put the smaller pages in it, so I guess I'll have to do that. The smaller size was all the rage years ago, but they are pretty much non existant here these days.

I wish manufacturers and\or suppliers would bring them back again. There must be plenty of scrappers in Australia that would like the smaller size.

I'm a simple scrapper and I like the 8 1/2 x 11 size because I also do my journaling on my layout. Using this size makes it easier to print.
I've been doing more and more digital layouts and have found there are 8 1/2 x 11 templates out there that makes it even more fun.

I do both. It depends on the story, amount of photos, and the mood I'm in on which format I create in. Jen Gallagher does some fabulous 8 1/2 x 11 layouts.

I'm pretty much exclusively 8.5x11 - I'll do smaller pages for gift albums but I've never scrapped 12x12. I like the rectangle better than the square (I've done some 8x8 and 9x9 albums) though.

I originally went with 8.5x11 for cost but I've stuck with it because I prefer it. I'm 10.5 years in now and I don't see changing to 12x12 in future

Funny that you posted this..I've been doing 12x12 layouts till now but just recenlty I've been seriousley thinkning about switching to 8 1/2 x11 as I feel more comfortable working with smaller sizes. I'm really s simple scrapbooker too and usually just use 1 or 2 picture when I want to tell stories behind the photos or a person. I just ordered my first 8 1/2x11 album and page protectors yesterday and looking forward to the switch!!

I started with this size for a number of years, did 12x12 for about 10 years and now have switched back again. My boys are older and I don't take as many pictures, I have no room on my shelves for any more 12x12, and the pages come together so much faster.

I've been finding it more difficult to find the 8.5x11 albums, so I just recently purchased 12x12 albums (like SuPeaNatural) and I think it will work well. That way, if I do make a 12x12 on occasion, I'll be able to put them all in the same album.

I switched from 12x12 to 8.5x11 in 2007, and haven't turned back since. I love that I can rotate the page for a different feel, I love the smaller size, I love that I don't need to constantly be ordering enlargements, and I love that I don't need as much 'stuff' to fill the page. Wish I'd started that size in the beginning.

I use AC modern albums. My 'local' scrapbook shop special orders them in for me.

I don't think it will go away! I do 12 by 12, 8.5 by 11, and 8 by 8. I wouldn't say any of them are my favorite.

8.5 by 11 is a nice amount of space, but I find it easier to work with a square space than a rectangle.

8 by 8 often feels too small to work with, so I use that for albums where I know I probably won't want to have more than one photo per page, and even then I usually use wallet-sized photos.

12 by 12 gives me plenty of space, but the albums are pretty bulky.

I wish 10 by 10 was more popular! I think that would be perfect for me, but I have yet to find a 10 by 10 album I like. Page protectors that size are hard to come by too.

I do not size discriminate I do 8 1/2 x 11 exclusively for my nephew's 2-3 year book. This is the first time I've done an entire album 8 1/2 x 11. I scrap 12x12, 8x8, and 6x8 too!

We are NOT a dying breed! I am all set up to do 8.5 x 11 for many years to come.

I also use an odd 12 x 15 for heritage pages.

Another 8.5x11 fan here.

Love that they fit on standard bookshelves, and with my simple style feel I still have plenty of room.

But I'm trying 8x8 for the first time for my December Daily this year - last year's 8.5x11 seemed like too much space to fill, and I wanted to try the square format

Wow, I have been making 12x12 pages for a while, but 8.5 x11seems a lot more convenient.
Do you buy albums and page protectors from office supply store or from scrapbook store.
I have used my 12x12 albums for supplies and to hold my 4x6 pics and have run out of 12x12 albums
Sounds like a great time to look into 8.5x11. Gonna go check it out. TFS

I still buy them at a scrapbooking store/website. I like the Pioneer 8.5*11 cloth-covered albums, and I buy that brand of page protectors too so I know they'll fit. My oldest album is only five years old, but it is holding up well so far.

Honeybee, I buy the huge office binders at Costco and decorate them with a favorite page in the front and one in back. I love that they fit on regular shelves and I buy the page protectors at Costco, too. They aren't as fancy as leather binders, but they work just fine for me. I decorate each spine according to what is in that binder.

I buy my sheet protectors from the office supply store. I have had very few of them rip. SO much cheaper than buying from a SB company.

I use WRMK 8.5x11 binders for completed pages. I LOVE Nylene's idea for using binders with clear covers. I have some childhood albums I'd like to do this with.

I started over 10 years ago scrapping 8.5x11, double-page layouts, and it's what I've stuck with for my day-to-day, chronological albums. I have done many minis, 8x8s and 12x12s for vacations, etc. but I will always stick with 8.5x11.

I will be honest.....

I have scrapped 12X12 pages for years and I have completed SEVERAL albums.

Last year was my son's senior year in high school and I had him select the size and the album that he wanted. He selected 8 1/2 X 11.

I have completed a few pages, but I am really finding it difficult. I like to embellish a lot and I just can't fit much on the pages. I have found it so difficult to scrap the size that I have put the album on the back burner, for now.

All advice accepted gratefully!

I've scrapped all sizes but 8.5 x 11 is my favorite, for lots of reasons. Honestly, most of my own albums are this size. I did one page 8.5 x 11 landscape orientation and that was fun...try it, you might like it! For some reason, I felt like I had more room with the landscape orientation...I didn't but it felt like I did!

For 8.5 x 11 pages, I use good quality, regular binders and page protectors from Staples. They don't look quite as nice, imo, but they're so convenient and so inexpensive! The practical part of me won that war.

thank you for your help!

I started in 8.5x11 and swore I'd never do 12x12 pages. Now that's all I do. I tried going back to 8.5x11 a little while ago but couldn't. I realized that it's not the size that's throwing me... but the rectangular canvas!

I adore 8.5 x 11, but my fave of all is 11 x 8.5. I do some 12 x 12 if I have lots of pics, but even then, I'd rather do extra pages.

I used to have separate albums, but I now put a few mixed page sizes into the same album, thanks to Pea1 a few years back.

I have been scrapping since 1999 and switched to 8.5 x 11 as my preferred size about 9 yrs. ago.

I did six pages this size with/for a client today and now I am in the mood to work on a few of my own projects, which have been sorely lacking attention of late....
