This is quick, isn't it?
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR announced Monday penalties to three teams that compete in the Sprint Cup Series as a result of rule infractions at Phoenix International Raceway.
Jeff Gordon was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) -- altercation with another competitor on the race track during the race -- and has been fined $100,000, docked 25 championship driver points and put on probation until Dec. 31. Rick Hendrick, owner of the No. 24 car, also has also been penalized with the loss of 25 championship owner points. Alan Gustafson, crew chief of the No. 24 car, was found to be in violation of Section 9-4A (at all events, crew chief assumes responsibility of his driver, car owner and team members) and has been placed on probation until Dec. 31.
Brian Pattie, crew chief of the No. 15 car, violated Sections 12-1 and 9-4A and has been fined $25,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31.
Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 car, has been fined $25,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31 for violating Sections 12-1 and 20-6.7A (cars and drivers will not be permitted to carry onboard computers, automated electronic recording devices, electronically actuated devices, power distribution modules, power conditioners, micro-processors, recording devices, electronic digital memory chips, traction control devices, digital readout gauges and the like, even if inoperable or incomplete). Keselowski had a cell phone in his race car.
All of these violations occurred during Sunday's event at PIR. |

That is crap for Gordon. A whole lot of crap. There's only one race left who cares about probation until the end of the year. They should sit him for Daytona next year. It was very pre-meditated. He said so on his radio.
Brad's fine lol. that's so trivial it doesn't matter. He only pulled it out during a red flag. Fans love it. |

Well I am defending Jeff it's about time he stood up to Clint! Clint has caused Jeff several races this year, and yesterday was no different! If it was Dale Jr or Dale Sr. everyone would cheering them on but because it's Jeff he is taking a hit. What about other drivers this year who also acted this way, retaliated and was not punished by Nascar(tony, danica, kevin) just to name a few!

I agree...to someone who makes the kind of money Gordon does, $100,000 is a drop in the bucket. Again, the fact that the owner was penalized as well as the crew chief because of his actions should make Gordon real proud! |

I really think he should've been parked, they parked Kyle Busch last year for a race for much less.. a hit to a truck on pitroad AFTER the race, and he was sat for the Nationwide and Sprint the following week; plus the fine and points! They need to apply the same rules to all of them! |

Well really now when has Nascar ever played fair, certain drivers get by with any and everything while others are punished. Didn't see them sitting or punishing any other driver this year for getting even with someone, why start now. Jeff got hit pretty hard with penalities when others didn't so I think he was punished to harshly. Imagine if it was your son racing in the car and at 6 different times thru out the year the same driver wrecked him, how would you feel then. Or let's say your at a ballgame and the pitcher hits your kid 6 times do you set in the stands and keep quiet I think not.

Kyle was on probation at the time - huge difference.
They didn't park Danika a few weeks ago, why would they park Jeff?
I don't like that others got caught up in it, not one bit, but Clint deserved it.
I want to know what happened to the crew members who were throwing punches and actually went after Jeff? Those guys need their asses kicked. |
