I'm very sad. I think the use of MTC with my Cricut Expression has finally come to an end. I haven't updated anything since the lawsuit between the two so I've been able to use MTC with my Cricut just fine...until today. Now it won't let me cut telling me various possibilities of which I have tried all except for updating my firmware because I know that will definitely put an end to my use of MTC. That pretty much makes my cricut useless to me because I don't use a lot of cartridges but I also don't know if it pays to invest in another cutting machine because I don't use it all that much. Just a very sad day.

Did you try doing the reset procedure?

Just a thought.

Reset Procedure:

- First, turn your machine on with no cartridge loaded. Then roll all your gray dials (the two on the left and the one on the right) down to their lowest setting.

- Then grasp the green/gold cylinder blade assembly and use it to pull the entire gray carriage unit along its track to the other side of the machine.
Back where the gray carriage car usually sits, there is a red button. Press that button and hold it down for about three seconds.
Let go and then move the gray carriage car back into place.

- This next step will sound a bit odd, but many times it can fix your little "bug". Roll all your dials all the way up and all the way down three times (three times for each dial).

- Then hit the "Cut" button and then turn the machine off.
Let the machine sit for a few minutes (15-20), load a cartridge, turn it on, and try a practice cut

do you have it plugged into the right port?
If you haven't made any changes, it should still work. You should search/ask over at the MTC forum.

I don't understand how that could be possible unless you physically updated either your MTC program or your cricut firmware. I have multiple versions of the MTC on my computer. They all work perfectly fine. I have them all dated back to when it first came out. I do get pop ups that tell me there is a newer version. I just click out. I hope you figure it out. Could be something with the port options for cutting. Do you have the right setting clicked? You should have Provo Craft Cricut selected in the cut project with options. Try all your ports on your computer too. What if your USB cord no longer works? Try using another one. What ever you do don't do any MTC updates! They took the option for cutting to your cricut plugin out.

I agree. It should still work as long as you haven't updated.

I tried a couple of different ports and made a few other adjustments and finally got it to work! YAY! I didn't know how it was possible to just stop working either if I hadn't made any changes. Thanks for the suggestions!
