Store bought, or home made??
Home made here... But in the past I've done store bought...
And if you make them, are they all the same design, or different? |

I made mine this year and last year. They are basically the same. Same design with different papers, ribbons, embellishments. Last year they were pocket photo cards. This year they are criss-cross pocket cards with a photo. I'm not done yet, so don't have them posted.
I also made a friend's that she requested. She wanted non-traditional colors and designs. Made 10 of those and they are posted in my gallery.
I already bought most of the things I need to make cards for next year with all the sales. Want to make gatefold cards next time. |

Store bought. My family seems to think handmade is tacky.
One example, one member would always send computer printed cards. Not my thing, but apparently acceptable. I sent a few handmade cards, because the ideas were flowing. (Honestly, I wish I had kept one of the cards & submitted it, instead. It was that good! And, I never think my stuff as submittable.) Oddly enough, the store bought cards started arriving from this person & have never stopped.
They have a habit of sending messages. I swear there is a message or hidden meaning in everything they do. It's exhausting to deal with them!
Anyway, I think that they took my handmade cards as sending my own message.
So now, I only expend the time & energy to make cards for those who I know will enjoy them & see them as special. The others get the store bought. |

I used to do store bought but once I got into stamping (mostly with Stampin Up) I've always done homemade. I actually just finished them up today. I just have to get another book of stamps and I'm good to go. I will probably wait until atleast Dec 1st to mail them out.
I do quite a few designs (maybe 4-5 of each). I get all of my ideas from either Splitcoast or Pinterest. SOOOOO many ideas!!!

This is a dilemma for me! Because I make cards, I can not bring myself to do store bought (this would be Costco or the like; I would at least 'custom' store purchase).
But making them is a big time commitment and I have two little ones still. AND this year I'm making wedding invites for a nephew--these need to be completed around Jan 1st.
Last year, I didn't send any! I dont' want to do that again. I guess I should take myself to Costco. *sigh* |

Since I send out 90+ cards they are store bought. But I do hand cancel them with the Santa Claus, IN postmark.

I will be making them. There won't be too many to make, so hopefully it's a project for next weekend. They will essentially all be the same, but maybe with some variations as to how I color the stamped angels on them (I already know they will have two angels), and maybe some variations in the ribbons or other trim I use on them.
ETA: This is the prototype. I knew I had done this one card in February, and that's as far as I've gone on the 2012 cards so far this year. I forgot that I actually stamped these two angels more than a year ago, LOL.

I seem to lack card making talent. I tried (again) tonight to make one, and I never like the way they turn out, even when I lift or try to do something I really like.
So, I buy cards. But, I buy lots of different cards for variety. |

Store bought but I buy them individually tailored for each card recipient. I cut down my X-mas card list to a handful of people so I can spoil them with beautiful cards that they treasure. I do make handmade cards but it's usually for a relative that loves my work. Most of my family and friends prefer store bought. |

Handmade 30 this year (And most unless something crazy is going on). All the same design. It's hard enough to come up with 1 design, let alone 30. No one sees the other person's card, so it does not bother me that they are all the same. If they were a store bought boxed set, they would all be the same anyway. |

Handmade 30 this year. They are all same design but with different pp & washi tape/ribbon/border stickers. Several years ago, I did all individual designs but just didn't have the desire or time to spend on that this year. This is the first time in 2-3 years that I have actually made cards, we did store bought for awhile. It felt good to use some of my Xmas stash. I have been making a few gift tags too.

Last year was the first year I ever did a handmade card and MAN was it a lot of work, but people have told me they are looking forward to seeing what I make this year, so it was all worth it. I did get smart in that I am only using shapes I can cut from my Cricut or punch and I did it very assembly line style. Stamped 150 images. Cut 150 items. Cut 50 of those in half. Cut 100 coordinating items. Used pop dot to attach the first three items. Built my stamp phrase on a block. Now I just need my 100 kraft A2 cards to come from Bazzill and I am ready to finish them off!!
This time it has been SOOOO much easier! |

I've done homemade in the past and they end up all vent and ugly by the time they get there. I do photo cards now-- I know, you would totally expect homemade from me! I just hate them getting all mangled! |

Store bought photo cards. At least they are my photos!
I have done handmade in the past and no one appreciated them so I decided that it wasn't worth my time. I don't have family or friends that like crafty things. They are too practical. I'm the odd one. |

I only send out about 25-30 cards so I do homemade. I do 2 styles - one Christmas and one holiday for my non-Christian friends. I keep it simple - cuts I can do on my Cricut, some embossing and maybe a little ribbon or other flat trim. I hate for them to be too bulky and cost me a fortune to mail and like someone said they get all mangled in the mail.

I am also a photo card person. They are way more appreciated by my family and friends, I don't enjoy assembly line card making, I have other crafty things to do at this time of year and I don't have time.
I make lots of other cards and people seem to love them, but I think handmade Christmas cards get lost in the shuffle.

I did a mix this year, I just don't have the time to do 100% handmade. I did a few different designs and have done that in the past too. I try to vary the designs from year to year too, but I don't have enough Christmas stamps for them to be 100% different. Most of mine will get sent out by the end of this week.

I have resorted to making a few homemade x-mas card for immediate family only. With access to Facebook and all my extended family and friends; I put together a digital x-mas card and post it on FB for everyone to see. In today's economy; the total cost of postage to send all those cards individually would be outrageous since I do have a large extended family. |

I seem to alternate years--last year was a photo card I purchased--this year I *might* have enough stocked up from the last couple years of creating them to send them out--but I do not make a huge batch to send out--too stressful for me anymore |

I usually start making my own...and then run out of time and have to finish off my list with store bought... So far I have about 25 made and I need 40 some, so I am really hoping to find some time in the next few weeks to get some more finished up.
I usually make about 6 of a kind or so, depends on my mood and how much supplies I have, and the design of the card. I love making them using up my leftover scraps of my Christmas goodies, and I usually buy an new stamp or die each season to use.

Since I started card making about 5 years ago, they have all been handmade. I also do my mothers and my aunts. Those are each one design throughout. For mine, I do a mix of designs but usually at least 4 or 5 per design. |

Homemade.
This year my cards are all a bit different. I made card bases with differnt stripes of washi tape and then I cut a Ali Edwards Christmas banner misted it in a color that matched the card and added a simple cardstock behind it. Then I added the banner to the bottom of the card with foam adhesive. I wrote a greeting inside and signed it. |

The past three years I have designed photo cards on Photoshop.
This year Becky Higgins has some great FREE cards on her site! I downloaded them, added in a picture, and printed them at Walgreens! Ta-da! I backed them with card stock and am in the process of writing notes on the back.
There is just something about receiving an actual Christmas card in the mail. |
