In two weeks, I'll be going home for winter break (I currently live on campus at my university), and I'm already stressing over having to decide what scrappy supplies to pack up and take with me! My entire stash is here, and there's no way I can take it all with me. I'm working on a list, but it got me wondering what everyone else would do in this situation. What would you take along for a month of living away from home? |

This probably isn't very helpful, but I don't think I would take any scrappy supplies with me except maybe a journal to keep track of what I do each day and a camera. But, I've also never scrapped away from home and I like packing light. I most definitely will get scrap withdrawal for at least the first week, but good things are meant to be missed right  |

i vote everything. 
seriously, though, when i moved in with dh (before i even moved all of my clothes), i moved my entire stash.
i set it up in the kitchen, until we finished remodeling the upstairs. lol... |

I would fill one of those 12x12 plastic craft boxes with patterned paper, cardstock, letter/chipboard stickers, and a few embellishments.
For tools, I'd bring my ATG gun with a refill, small fiskars trimmer, scissos, favorite pens and an ink pad.
Plus a handful of pictures.

Other than scissors, trimmer etc, I'd first choose the photos you might want to do, then take favorite pp, cardstock, and embellies you couldn't live without that might go with the photos. I'd also take a couple of mists and stencils or any tools you use a lot of. Or just make up kits.
My plan has always been to do layouts then add other embellies later as needed. I also use temporary adhesive in most cases incase I come up with an idea for something I didn't bring, though I do take permanent also.

You could also make up some page kits to take if you have the time. Choose your photos and papers for each kit, embellies and whatever else and then all you need to bring is your basics....adhesive, trimmer, scissors, etc. |

Well if it was me I would bring all of it, but I don't have that much stuff. haha.
I like the idea of making page kits. Or make a kit subscription type box of stuff. How much scrapping will you do?

Basic tools with select embellishments, stamps, and inks in a lunch box. Neutral cardstock. And specific pp's to match whatever pictures you pick to scrap. |

I was about to post the EXACT SAME question this morning... I'm also a university student going home from break. Whatever I take with me has to be checked in and out of the airport, so it can't be much.
I'm going to fill as 12x12 plastic box, but I don't know how I'm going to live without my Silhouette. Luckily I have another paper trimmer at home, so I don't have to worry about lugging that thing around.

I would bring some things you keep passing over and try them out. I went to a crop recently and brought a couple older collections I never broke open and that was all I brought. The layouts turned out really cute and I got some mileage from the supplies I kept passing up . Enjoy your break! My finals are next week! |

If you do any fussy cutting, stamp those images up so you can do that.
Things that you can do on the fly, so to speak, like coloring other stamped images.
Other than that, I'd make another vote for page kits. | |

Are there any tools you have access to at home to save you bringing them eg a trimmer?
I'd put together some "kits" in 12x12 bags with all papers and embellishments for that project. Shimelle Laine aka Glitter girl has some great videos about putting together different types of kits.
I'm in the process for putting together similar kits for various projects so when I want to work on one, everything is in one place and I don't waste crafting time searching or messing up my tiny craft corner by having to pull everything out.
If worst comes to worst you'll just have to go shopping while you're home! | |

Totally kits for me. Like I'm going to a Pea crop on Saturday, and plan to day my 4x6 kit for 30 days of thankfulness, my 6x6 kit for December Daily (which I haven't even started--for this I'm probably not going to assemble pages, but just get "bits" ready to have on hand. Then maybe 2 previously packed page kits. This plus my basic tool kit will not exceed a modest shoulder bag and should give me enough to do 10-12 hours of scrapping.
If you expect this to happen often I'd try to have a basic tool kit at both homes! |

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions! I'm going to start making a list of what to pack tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't have any duplicates of my big tools (paper trimmer, etc), so I will have to take those. But my trimmer is small so that's fine. But on the flip side, I'm going by car, so I have a bit more space to work with.
Thanks to all the suggestions to make kits, I think the first thing I'm going to do is pull supplies for two mini-albums I want to get done during December--my DD and a summer vacation album I still need to complete. After that, I'll see where I stand and perhaps add in some things for full pages. I might just go for mini-albums and some art journaling during the break, though. I'll let you know how it goes!  |
