So, this is the first year I've done a DD. And I heard all the "warnings" about not pre-making the pages in order. But I figured it would be okay to make the Day 1 page, because Dec 1st was the Christmas Parade. I made a custom title on the silhouette and actually glued it down.
Then today, the city postponed the parade because of the expected weather conditions. It's now on the 8th. This is just my luck....

Oh well, now I have to (get to) spend more time working on it.

Been there, done that and it is aggravating. But, can you use some patterned paper to cover your date (day number) and just swap your pages out? We are creative gals, so there's always a fix, right?

This is why I don't glue anything down until the day is done. Cut the paper, add the embellishments and put them in the page protector. Then you can still move them to another date or swap out the paper if your photos clash. I'm always amazed that people can make their album before they take the pictures.

It's funny because the rest of my pages are exactly like that, lol. For some reason I felt the need to get the first page out of the way. The good thing is that I checked it when I got home and the other side is pretty much blank. I thought I had already finished the title page, but I only did a little bit of it, and it can be used for day 7.

Of course I told hubby that I "have to" work in my scrap room since the parade was cancelled because I need to fix this.

Oh no!! I hate when that happens. I have done the DD for a few years now since I saw it on Ali's blog and I have done less and less preparation. I printed out Ali's template (the 4*6 ones) but not embellished much. Because what if it snows or something, then I want to add snow flakes or a different journal card or something. I would rather wait until that day so it can all match and reflect the activity or parade of that day. I totally get you!

I made my whole album last year, but didn't add the dates. I thought about what I would do if I wanted to change things/pages around and decided I could always add pages or inserts if need be.

You could just make a tag with the new date and place it over the "1," no?

Who would of thought? Our usual Dec. 1st weather is cold and nasty and we had temps in the mid 60's. Go figure!
More work for you but in the end it will all work and you could even make a note in the jounaling about how it was cancelled on the original date.

I didn't add numbers to my pages. I just don't know how things will settle for the most part. The exception is Dec 1st - I had a post card about December events in Houston and Dec 4th - I have tickets to the Lakers Game.

It's fun to let the day set the tone for which page I'll use on a certain day.

I wouldn't change anything. Even though the parade didn't happen, the even still has a story. I would use day 1 to tell the story of the postponement, then scrap the actual parade when it does happen.
