I love to throw a party! If I am short on time, I do tried and true favorites...heavy apps, salads, soups and a dessert. Usually a special cocktail option with wine and some thing non alcoholic. If I have more time, I like to use my good scrappy friends to try new things!

After tweaking it a bit, I find that when I host a crop at my house, we all throw in $10.00 in a bowl (honor system). I provide snacks, drinks, dessert and dinner for a 10 hour crop. We found that when everyone brought something, it ended up costing them more than the $10.00 and there was way too much stuff, so we settled on this system and it has been working for almost two years now.

peanut m&m's are a must! lol If they are eating while scrapping I would keep it to appetizer foods. Something they can nibble on here and there.

I have a group of friends that gather for evening crops. We rotate houses, and everyone brings food for a potluck dinner. The host usually prepares the main dish.

I have done others where I charge a fee and provide a meal based on the season. Salads, breadsticks and fruit in summer, while I might do lasagne, salad and garlic knots in the fall and my favorite winter meal is a soup and chili bar with cornbread, biscuits and breads.
Of course there are always two great desserts!!

We order in pizza's and each hostess rotates supplying the drinks, chocolates and snacks. We like to keep it as simple as possible for everyone. It just works for us.

I have a group of 7-10 people that I have at my monthly crops - or sometimes one of the others will host at their house. I try to do something different so it doesn't get monotonous each month. Some of the things we've had are: a sandwich platter from the deli, order in pizza, order in Chinese, Subway sandwiches, salad, make your own sandwiches. Sometimes one of the other scrappers will volunteer to do lunch. Usually somebody else brings brownies or cookies. And of course, I always have M&Ms on the tables!

We switch having the crops at each others houses each month so whoever is "hosting" supplies drinks and snacks. We usually order pizza for lunch and split the cost for that.

The day I didn't, they burst out laughing because they couldn't hide the disappointment. One of my friends was filipino and the joke was: when we go to your house we expect lumpias...damm it!

I provide fresh fruit and veggies with dip. I'm diabetic, so everyone knows to bring their own sweet or carb-loaded snacks if they want. I also provide paper plates, napkins, cups, etc.
We usually get together in the evenings, after the dinner hour, or once in a while on a Saturday afternoon.

When I first started going to my friends crop just u set two years ago...she supplied everything!
She set up the tables, lighting, prepared all the food, and offered drinks and goodies!
Everyone seemed okay that she provided this every time, but I couldn't! So, I always offer to bring something like a salad, or dessert. I always bring the hostess a coffee from Starbucks.

|Posted: 12/28/2012 9:09:05 PM|I went to crop at a friend's home. She served mixed nuts, banana bread and Mediterranean chips for a snack. She served salad and lasagna for dinner. I'm ready to crop at her house again because the food was so good.
|Posted: 12/28/2012 9:15:13 PM|I've never hosted a crop, but as a "goer", we have always sent somebody to get something or ordered in, depends on the time of the crop.
As for me:
I'm good with an expresso machine & Hershey's chocolate... If I could crop at the Starbucks with a bag of chocolate, I would probably never leave!
