Hi! I posted this over in Photography as well but haven't gotten a response. I am in need of an external hard drive. I know absolutely nothing about them. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I love all my Mac/Apple products, how long they last, etc. so to me it was worth it. The TC works with PCs as well as with iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.
If you cross post this to NSBR, you'll get a lot of input. Some great computer gurus over there as well

My passport is a really good one also best buy had on sale the seagate with 2 tb for around $99 that's a really good deal.. The my passport is always a little bit more expensive but I think either brand is good to have! They both are easy to use & connect from a 3.0 USB.. Go to bestbuy.com you can read the reviews for both!

I own 3 western digital external hd. One has to be over 7 yrs old that one was only 100 GB and out grew it quickly, so DH uses it. I now use a 200 GB solely for my iTunes and 2 TB for pics, digital kits, etc.

I have a Seagate. My first one failed and was replaced by the company. After that though I only use it as a redundant backup.

I have a 250GB Seagate and DH has a Western Digital 500GB. Both work well for us and have lasted several years so far.

I now have a Calvary that has been going strong for 5 years, but I admit - I never back up to it after having the previous 2 crash! I store all of my stuff on CD and the cloud now. I use Crashplan and it does automatic backups.
