Processes and pictures would be awesome if possible.
I have tons of projects going on and I want to figure out how to store them so I can actually get to them and finish instead of always having to "clean and organize"
The piles and ziplock baggies are sliding everywhere and getting to where I won't see the project and don't finish it.
Also, I just keep organizing and I hate it. I want to make stuff
please, can you help!? |

I bought a bunch of those clear plastic 12 by 12 envelopes at Michaels. They are $1.50. Everything for the project goes in the envelope and it snaps closed. For bigger project there are also those clear Iris boxes that are about $5 on sale.

I feel your angst, I used to go through the same thing.
I went to J's and M's and bought the multiple drawer bins. There are many different kinds. I have one large one w/ 3 drawers, another with 12x12 pull out bins (not drawers), another of the bins but has 3, and finally I have one on casters that I place punches and stuff in.

I need to work on this too! I have a few of the 13x13 Iris boxes that are mostly full, but now I have DD stuff to keep up with too.
I realized that it helps to figure out what size supplies your project needs. For example, if you're working on a mini, it might make more sense to use something smaller than a 12x12 container - a photo box, maybe.
Of course, having different sized containers may not work for your space or your taste. It's just something I'm considering.

I buy Art Bin boxes and store projects in those. One for Christmas, another for a gift album, etc. Works well for me. I love them because they stack, latch and have a handle.

I have the IKEA ALEX drawer unit next to my desk:
On top of it is my paper trimmer where I do all of my cutting. The drawers are wide enough to easily hold 12"x12" paper + tons of other stuff.
Two of the drawers hold tools and other items, but three of them are my "project drawers" and hold projects I am currently working on:
The drawers are close enough to me that I work right out of them & when I'm done working on that project, I just clear everything off my desk and right back into the drawer. It works great!
I also keep "kits" of my supplies in storage cubes behind me. This is where a collection hangs out while I am still using it to make layouts, etc. Those I grab out of the cube when I am ready to make a layout & when I'm done with the layout everything goes back in. The drawers I mostly use for things that take longer, like mini albums or altered art projects, or something that needs to be added to over a period of time. |

Iris boxes. They stack nicely and hide the mess in progress. I have about 9 clear ones. The travel well to crops, too , and you can store paper in them if you have extras |

Even though I have a nice craft room, I tend to do most of my projects at my local store. So, I need storage that is not only workable at home, but that transports well.
I use several items:
1. I use the clear 12x12 envelopes that either snap shut or have a string that wraps around a circle to keep it shut. They are $12.99 for 12 (from M's) and I buy them with a coupon or when they are on sale, so they are pretty cheap, but sturdy. These are used for smaller projects. These are stored in the large IKEA Kassett boxes (which are housed in my Expedit).
2. I use the clear plastic 13x13 Iris containers for all other projects, projects for which I have a lot of stuff or that are larger than the clear envelope will hold.
I group all items to be used in the project in these two storage options and have some handled bags that are perfect for carrying them to crops. As I come across items that I want to add to a project, I simply drop them in the clear envelope or case.
For the larger projects for which I use the Iris cases, I will usually use one for patterned papers, one for the embellishments and one for stamps, etc. For trips, which usually involve a lot of photos and memorabilia, I will have another case to store these items.
I find it easier to 'kit' supplies like this so I have everything I need in one place, and so I am not overwhelmed by too many choices. It takes a little time to pull supplies together like this, and to put them away when the project is finished, but I am much more productive with this process and that's what's most important to me. Believe me, I never intended to "kit," but it is working for me.

Like Sparehead3...I have a M's 12x12 plastic envelope for each album or album to be. They are stored in two cloth bins from Target that fit right into the shelves of my Expedit. I am in and out of those bins all the time. If I have a whim to add to a project or album I can pop a photo in the envelope or a piece of paper or whatever. Then when I feel like working on the project....I pull the whole envelope out and I'm ready to roll.
I keep several projects going with absolutely no guilt with this method.
I would use the 12x12 Iris boxes but I have no way of storing them and I really don't need that much container space for each album project.

I use a set of elfa drawers from the container store in which I keep projects like mini books or decorations. Since I love making christmas, easter, and thanksgiving pages, I have all my supplies for these in three separate M's envelopes. My patterned paper is stored by color in and open bin that I got at target. And for my scrapbooking pages, I will make a few page kits and put them in page protectors that I keep in an AC 3ring binders. Hope this helps.
