I was going to say the same thing! Legos! They have some really cool sets for that age--Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc.

Legos would be my answer, too, as the mom of two boys. Just be careful in the dark. Stepping on those things barefooted can make you lose your religion.

Definitely legos, skylanders giants is HUGE, itunes gift card (if they have one), the new Angry Birds Star Wars games, Nerf guns.

If in a winter climate outdoor winter stuff. My 9 year old is getting the forms to make igloos and a beginner snowboard.
