Sizzix Eclipse. It cuts detail so much better than cricut. There are lots more Cricut cartridges but with Eclips you get the variety by using eCal and cutting SVG's and fonts. |

Eclips. This will sooo be my next cutter. But then I am a huge fan of Sizzix designs. |

Eclips. It has much better intricacy, and the customer support is 200% better than Cricut.
1) they replaced my machine when a piece stopped working. I didn't have to pay shipping or anything.
2) They sent me a new USB cord without me asking or contacting them because the new cord works better with eCal, the third party software that allows you to cut all the pretty svgs.
3) I love not being tired down to cartridges. |

Just my humble opinion. And no, I wasn't being mean. | |

I saw a demo of the Eclips some time ago at A's, it was impressive. I was there the other day and they had the machine and all the carts marked 50% off. |

The Expression 2 cuts much better detail. However, since it won't use outside software, you really can't do your own file design. You can weld and alter cutting files you've bought with either the Gypsy or Cricut Craft Room (if you can get it to work consistently).
However, I recommend that you look at the designs offered by each company, too, before making a decision. I looked at the Eclips files, and I was not impressed. I much prefer the Cricut designs, although there are plenty of Cricut carts I'll never buy, either.
If you have any art talent or think you might want to design your own files, then the Eclips would be a better match for you.
I have both the Expression 2 and a Gazelle by BossKut. I do my own designs with the Gazelle, but when I want convenience, I use my Cricut. |

You can use any SVG with the Eclips ecal software, not just Sizzix shapes.
You can even take many of the silhouette shapes and convert them.

Not sure what the E2 is going for nowadays but I purchased my Eclips at Archivers earlier this week for $150. I live out of state & they shipped it via FedEx.
