My husband wanted to buy me a Cricut Gypsy for Christmas. He said he just wanted to buy me one from the store, but are unable to find them in stores and on online stores. All we find are used ones. Now it's got me to wonder is Cricut about to come out with something new to replace the Gypsy or a new and improved one?

What a great question! And a question alot of people have and Provocraft isn't saying anything! They are really hard to come by and I really don't think they are producing them anymore, but that is just my opinion. Provocraft hasn't officially said if they are discontinued or if they are working on a new improved model. I am hoping for a new improved model. I have a Gypsy and absolutely love it! When I bought it I thought I would just use it at crops so that I wouldn't have to bring my cartridges with me, but I use it all the time. It is always plugged into my E. I will be so sad if anything happens to it and I have nothing to replace it with.

I do know that a short time ago Cricut.com was selling them but I don't know if they still have them in stock.

Good Luck!

I could be wrong but I think I remember that Michaels had them on clearance a long time ago. They might not be sold anymore.

Maybe you could check out the cricut.com forums. I got the impression that they were phasing them out the last time I checked.

Not 100% sure, but I think they phased them out. I know I got mine free with my cart points and I have yet to open it. I think I will like it, but no time to think about. Maybe some day... Check on the Cricut boards...

I heard that they weren't making them anymore. I was still on the fence about it ( I really don't like the idea if linking carts.) this helped my decision, I hopped online and found a jukebox instead.

Definitely makes me sad, but I think they are promoting their cricut craftroom instead, which I've yet to even try. I truly LOVE my gypsy and use it all the time. I wonder how they'll help us if a gypsy crashes?

Everything I have heard and read indicates that they are done with the Gypsy and will be pushing everything to be used through the Cricut Craft Room.

I'm pretty sure that the Gypsy has been discontinued and has been replaced by Cricut Craft Room. I was instructing at Michael's already almost a year ago when they quit doing Gypsy classes and clearancing out the Gypsies. I have one too, but rarely use it... not sure why, I just never got used to it. Are there any good tutorials around still? I did spend big bucks on it.

I am having problems with my gypsy and fear I will have to replace it. I hope it is still available somewhere because I don't like the crafroom. I bought the gypsy and the cricut, so I don't have to use my computer. Now I hpoe my gypsy will be ok. It has been updating for an hour now. Wish me luck.

I would really hate it if that craft room will be the only way to design with my carts! I love my gypsy because I can take it anywhere. I don't want to be tied to the computer.

This is exactly how I feel. I have other electronic cutters that require me to use the computer. I love my other cutters, and I am very adept at using them. I bought a Cricut because I liked some of their designs and for the convenience, especially since I crop with friends regularly at the LSS. I don't want to have to take one of my other cutters and a laptop. The Cricut and Gypsy together are easy, fast, and no design work is required on my part.

If my Gypsy dies, I will probably stop using my Cricut and go back to using my other cutters more again, which are better machines. It's just not as convenient to be tied to a computer.

As soon as I saw not only the units themselves but all the accessories on clearance, I figured there was not a bigger and better model coming along. They are funneling everything through the CCR.

If you are still looking, I was just on Cricut.com and they had the gypsy for $129, without any additional goodies. They had a bundle for $199. On the site, go to "shop" and then down at the bottom on the left is a tab for "other products" that is where you'll find it!

This is why I bought my gypsy, I can sit in the car while my dd is taking a dog lesson and play. I can not do that with my wide screen laptop
