|Posted: 12/11/2012 1:29:33 AM|...what she wanted for Christmas..."anything crafts, Aunt Lisa!"...
Now you have to understand, her mother (my sister) is the complete opposite of me in just about everything. Crafting would be the last thing in the world I would ever see her doing. She doesn't get it, isn't interested, etc. But her daughter, Grace, seems to have inherited the crafting gene. My mom and I love crafting, so there must be a gene there somewhere that my sister didn't get, but passed it on to her daughter. YAY!
Can't wait to have overnight crafting parties with her when she's old enough. I'm going to break her into scrapbooking. I've got more stuff than I'll ever use in this lifetime, so Lord knows I have to have someone to leave all of my treasures to when I go to the big scrapbooking studio in the sky!
Just thought I'd share my delight with all of you!

My 4 yr old granddaughter, Ashlynn, loves to do "stuff" with me, too. She calls anything artsy or crafty "stuff". Unfortunately, she hasn't learned to not write on furniture, walls, etc, so her dad has forbidden me from giving her anything crafty for Christmas this year.
I hope she gets through this phase soon so we can do stuff together again.

So cute! Start her scrapbooking now. When she was that age, I used to give my DGD paper, glue, glitter glue, beads, feathers, sequins, safety scissors and duplicate photos. She had a blast making pages and then we'd put them in her own special album or display them around the house. She was a little heavy-handed with the glitter glue, though...it would take days for those pages to dry. lol

My daughter isn't interested in crafts. She likes to draw, but crafting isn't her thing. I've never had to worry about her getting into my stuff - even when she was little and I had set up in a corner in her room!

Ok the photo choked me up a little. Thanks for sharing Lisa!

I have a niece that's very much the same way. I sent her a bunch of Smashbook goodies for her last birthday and her parents got her a trampoline. My sis called me complaining that my niece couldn't stop talking about the craft supplies. Lol Even crawling into bed sighing that she just couldn't sleep because she was dying to scrapbook.
Your niece is a total cutie too! Have fun helping her stretch her crafty muscles.

She is a cutie.
My granddaughter is getting into scrapbooking. She's 8, and has started a 8 x 8 album. She is going to finish it up during the Christmas break from school. I love it!

I live about 8 hours away from my nieces, but they are used to getting lots of homemade gifts/scrapbooks from me. On the last trip home, the 6 year old was crafting and said "Jac-Jac, when I grow up I want to be creative like you." During a skype chat a few months ago, she also asked me "How did you become a maker when you growed up?". I said "a maker?" and she responded, "you know, how you make things." Just melts my heart

So adorable! That's what I'm hoping more and more with Grace. I can't wait until she's old enough so that I can teach her to sew, as well as scrapbook...of course!!

Love it! And she is adorable!
Our 3yo grand daughter loves to do projects with her Grammy. she has a little blank book that she keeps at my house. Every time she comes, we get out the "pinches" and she glues the cut outs in her book. Since we used red paper the first time, we must now always use red! Too funny.
I also got Christmasy foam stickies and we made Christmas tree pictures. Used a snow pen from Archivers -- when you apply the heat gun it fluffs up.
I hope you enjoy many years of crafting with your adorable niece!

That is so sweet and your niece is adorable. What a great gene she has inherited, who knows maybe she will rub off on your sister!

Just a tip for those scrapping with youngin's, put the current date on the backs of the pages as they do them. Kinda like school work so when you look back at them you can see oh they did this page when they were just seven or whatever.

Take pictures of all the creations and make your own scrap page of the scrap in progress! It's so much fun to look at your page then turn the page to see the page she's made..

How lucky she is to have you! (and you, her, of course)
I have always, always loved to craft. I can remember back to when I was in 2nd grade, I loved it already. It would have been great to have a close adult around that loved it as well.
