And I was just wondering, are there any other add-ons I need to get for the machine? I know I need the binding wire, but is there anything else? Also, do you have to use their brand of wire? Or will any wire work?

I have no add ons besides the wire. I've only used their brand so I don't know for sure on the 2nd part of your question but I'd guess others would work.

You might want the wire cutters if you don't already have some.

No you do not anything else besides the wires, you can google "O wires" I think there are places that sell them in bulk. I usually pick them up at HL when I am on vacation in the US, they sell them in larger packs.

You'll love your Bind-it-all!! I have had mine for a few years and have made lots of mini projects with it.

Bon

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have some wire cutters already, but wasn't sure if their brand are "special" cutters. I'm so excited to get that smiley box from Amazon!

Any good wire cutters work. Bind-it-All has a Space Bar that is something else that will come in handy IF you use the smaller wires OR you will be binding a music book, cookbook etc. with a small margin.

You just drop it in before you get started so that when you put the cardstock in, it cuts the holes closer to the edge. That allows the pages to turn freely when you are using tiny wires for very small books. Since I wire bind a lot of music books and the like, it is handy to have it cut closer to the edge when I have a very small margin after I cut a book apart.

Thanks. I saw the spacer bar on Amazon, and wasn't sure about it. I think I'll go ahead and pick it up. One last question (maybe. Lol), which size wires do you use most? I was thinking of ordering 3/4", but wasn't sure

It depends on the thickness of the albums or books you will be binding.

For me, 3/4 inch wires is the most useful but I also use a lot of 1/2 inch wires. I have a few 1 inch wires and use them occasionally. I'd make sure to get some white wires because you can color them with alcohol inks and Copic markers.

It doesn't EVENLY color the wires, they are a splotchy but pretty color. MUCH cheaper than trying to buy colored wires because there aren't that many colors in that many sizes UNLESS you buy 50 to 100 of the same size and color.

To color with alcohol ink, cut the wire the length you need. Put in a zipper/ziplock bag, sprinkle the ink over, close bag and work it around the wire.

BUT, do NOT do like I did the first time, be so rough with it that you get it a little warped! It isn't easy trying to straighten the wire out perfect again. I use the Tim Holt alcohol in AND I have a couple of Copic refills for my FAVORITE colors. It it time consuming IF you are doing a bunch but I also just use the Copic pen to paint the wire.

I HAVE used Krylon Fusion spray paint to paint the wires too. BUT it works better to partially CLOSE the wires first to just enough to put the covers and pages in one at a time. Otherwise, when you bend it, the paint will usually pop OFF the part where the wire bends to make a circle.

ALSO, paint the wires and wait a week before using. I have several colors because I paint the vinyl coils too. The Fusion works better on the metal wires than regular spray paint.

You'll love it. I've made so many projects since getting mine last year. You can use any owires with it. And honestly I used to cut my wires with a cheap old scissor, until I bought a real wire cutter at the dollar store. I love the 3/4 inch size but would like to buy some bigger sizes too. Amazon sells owires in bulk.

Go for it!

Thanks everyone, I can't wait to start playing. angieandsnoopy, thanks so much for the tip on coloring the wires. I don't have any alcohol inks, but it looks like I'll have to get some of them, too

dreamsbedreams, I THOUGHT I had bypassed the alcohol ink AND the Copic pen craze! Well, I'm not doing too bad! So far, I have one set of 3 Tim Holtz inks, 2 copic refills and 9 pens. On the pens, I got the set of 6 Bold Primaries ON sale and 3 of my favorite colors.

Since I have the Copic pens, I'm also using them on my die cuts. I hope to get a few more colors of both the inks and the pens. I've got all I need to color my Snoopy stamps with the exception of a flesh color for Charlie Brown.
