Hi ladies!! I know that this has been brought up 100 times so now it will be 101.

I take soooooo many pictures that I scrap 2 page layouts that are 12x12. Sometimes I think I would like doing one page layouts but then I can't use all of my pictures. How do you do it?

Thanks for the help.

I scrap the 'main' photo of what I wish to document on a 12x12 layout and then use divided protectors to include the remaining photos. if there's more to the story than on the layout or a quote or something then I journal onto the extra photos or include a journaling card

I used to do only double page layouts. Once I started doing single pages I found that I liked my layouts so much more because they became more "story focused". I would choose only my absolute favorite photos from the event and use a title and journaling to tell the rest of the story. When I did double pages I would just load up on the pictures and often skipped the title and very rarely journaled.

To actually answer your question, I don't feel the need to scrap every single photo. I just want to tell the story and the photos I choose are only one aspect of that.

Oddball here. While I do a lot of pages like yours, I also have some subjects where I only take a single photo, or only enough for one page. Other times I rescrap copies of single photos.

This is me too. My motives for scrapping are about 80% because I enjoy the process and only about 20% for memory keeping. It would take all the fun out of it for me if I worried about being caught up or having every single picture I took scrapped.

Scrapping "all" of my pictures is not a goal of mine. I just don't care about how many pages I get done or how many photos I scrap.

I don't scrap just to "get it done."

I store all of my pictures in chrono order, labelled by event, and keep detailed journaling calendars. Even if those pictures never get scrapped, nothing is lost or wasted. My kids will still be able to find the pics and know what they are, when they were taken, and who is in them.

I scrap for artistic purposes. I scrap for myself because I enjoy the artistic process.

My view is that my kids will remember their childhoods regardless of whether I scrap them or not. What I hope to leave behind in my scrapbooks is a piece of *me*. They are my *art* and as such they tell my kids more about *me* than they tell about whatever the subject matter of the pictures is.

I don't scrapbook all my photos. I make layouts of the ones that speak to me or have a special story to tell.

Yep, I'm in the same boat: I have no desire to ever be 'caught up' or scrap all my pictures. And I don't think anyone would ever be interested in looking at my books if I did, because there would just be so much! (I suppose on one hand that means I could consider taking fewer pictures, but I'd rather keep taking lots of images and just scrapbook the photos and stories that are inspiring me at any particular time.)

While I do scrap predominately single page layouts, I do add in pocketed page protectors here and there to hold up to a dozen 4x6 photos all in one place, so if there is an event with lots of photos I want to include, that's one way to add them in. But often it just means I will do more single pages on that theme, and that's fine by me because I enjoy making those pages!

I also find when I'm scrapping specific stories, sometimes I only have one or two photos, especially if it's something that happened many years ago. Creating single pages or pages with just one or two photos means I can still document that particular memory without trying to figure out how to make it just one small part of a larger layout with more photos. I tend to call those pictures 'oddball photos' because they don't have a pair in my photo collection, but there is still something I want to record that goes along with that image.

Whenever I take photos of an event, say a trip to a tree farm to get our Christmas tree, I upload the photos as soon as I get home. I look at them immediately and tag the best 5 - 10 photos, sometimes fewer. I am looking for the photos that "speak to me" or tell the story. Sometimes one great photo will do that, even though I took 75 pics! If I happen to have several really wonderful photos, I either make a collage or use divided page protectors in my album.

It is freeing to not try to scrap every pic!

I have plenty of photos that won't make it on the page. Even when I used film and had envelopes of 4x6 prints from the developer.

Now with digital, I pick the photos I want to use to and resize before printing.

No....I usually choose photos that highlight the event or day I am trying to scrap. I'm okay with not including every photo from that event/day on my pages.

I don't scrap every picture I take, but I have done one page layouts with a lot of pictures.

Two of my favorite methods are both from Shimelle's 4x6 photo love class last year. One is her September class I love this method and have used it multiple times when I didn't want to do a double page lo. I love adding the pocket and half sheets with photos.

My other favorite is from her July 4x6 photo love class. I love the accordion pull-out when I really want to scrap the photos but love another photo better for the main focus of my layout.

I scrap a lot of one pagers with four photos. I also narrow events down very specifically so for Thanksgiving for example, I may have 6 or 7 different layouts: watching the parade, the turkey, family, playing outside, etc. but I'm kinda nerdy like that!

I scrap only the "five star" photos. It took years for me to realize that every photo I took was not album worthy.

I don't do a lot of single photo layouts but I still don't scrap all my photos. It would be too much and a lot of them as similar anyway. I like to have some photos that are not in my scrapbooks for lots of things like framing, giving away, etc.

When I do a single page layout, I often have 2-4 pictures on it. A double page could have 12 or more depending on cropping. But what I've also done sometimes is on a double page layout, do the left page as a single page layout and the right page a multiphoto.

I scrap the best of the best photos, but that still comes out to several pages. I tend to use wallet size photos and get as many as I can on one page. I finally gave in that it didn't matter how many pages I have to an album as long as I get everything in it I want. Many of my albums have 35 - 50 pages in it.

I'll pick a couple favorites from an event instead of using every single photo, like everyone else said.

I also second the suggestions to look at Shimelle's 4X6 Photo Love class (you can find the videos under the Classes & Events link on top of the page). There are some great ideas for getting photos on one page!

When my family looks at the layouts I have done over the past 15 years, the pages that get the most time and attention are the ones with a lot of interesting photos. I take the same approach as was mentioned above- I break down an event. I just finished last year's Thanksgiving and I had several double page layouts- cooking day before, serving buffet dinner, sitting/eating at the table, and after dinner family photos.

For my scrapbooking reasons, I simply do not "get" the idea of one or two teeny tiny photos surrounded by white space and a ton of stuff. Oftentimes I can barely see what is in those photos. But, from an "artistic" viewpoint, that is a different story.

Even when I follow Shimelle's methods, like the class guide for cutting up a whole collection, I will stick more photos on the pages than she shows in her videos.

The great thing about scrapbooking is that there is no "one way", and it serves different purposes for different people. I can still put "artistic" effort into titles and embellishments and have a lot of photos on the page (I still can't let "white space" go by, though.)

I don't use every photo. There are so many that are near duplicates, didn't turn out well for whatever reason, etc.

I can still get plenty of photos on a single page, I have a Christmas LO in my gallery that has 10 photos on it. Occasionally I'll think something needs a double page and I'll make one, but honestly most things will fit on a single page. Sometimes I dissect the day as well. Like the day my son was born I could have done a double page that hit just about everything, but I'm choosing to do a bunch of single pages that highlight of the best of the best.

I scrap mostly one pagers because I don't take tons of pictures of one thing. Example, I recently returned from Germany. I will do a one page of a certain Christmas market, one page of buildings in a certain town, etc. I guess you could say I look for a theme to group certain pics together into one layout, even when I have lots of pics of one event.

Like a birthday, I might do a page of gift opening and a page of cake eating, not all one 2 page spread called 'birthday.'

I don't scrap all my pictures, either. I also scrap more than one page layouts if the subject requires it.

I was a one pager this year (previously a two pager) and will be starting PL for 2013. I don't scrap every photo I take, I couldn't possibly. Some months I take hundreds of pictures. I would never be done.

This is something I love about this hobby. Everyone's approach is different. You can't let white space go unfilled, and I am always worried about not having enough white space on pages, even when there is only one or two photos. I wish I could let go some of that white space so I could use more embellishments and fun things on my pages!

I used to be mostly a two pager and now mostly a one pager. I've just found that a lot of photos really don't add to the story. The main thing is that I don't print that many photos. I typically decide when I'm uploading photos to print what will get scrapped. I always tell myself I can print something at home to go with what I ordered but then almost never need to do that.

I take so many photos of every event and daily photos of just stuff.
Probably 10,000 a year.
I don't scrap ALL my photos.
I only scrap the best and the ones that tell the story.
The rest I just store on my hard drive or print and put in photo boxes. I also delete the ones that don't turn out great

When I used my normal camera I only really took photos at events... I would then scrap the ones I liked.

Since I got my iPhone I now use that more and get some really good photos... I know scrap these so there are normally only one to use... I prefer my iPhone photos the best though

Another one for the I don't scrap them all boat.i scrap the important ones. Most the time I'll just use 1-2 photos to tell the story and if I have more than one story to tell it'll get 2 layouts.

You're going to find that most people aren't like me. They don't scrap all their pics. I do - I don't see the point of keeping separate photo albums or boxes of photos. For me, scrapping is supposed to replace regular ol' photo albums.

I also scrap chrono and I'm way behind so I'm still working with film developed pics. I just try and fit as much as I can onto a page. Sometimes I can crop and sometimes I can't crop much. If I have to, I'll expand into more pages but I do try and condense. Sometimes I use the old color-blocking method.
Sometimes, I've let the worst of them go. It took me awhile to get to that point. But if I've got a bunch of pics (even if they're all lousy) I might narrow down and chuck the worst.

With digital, I can go back and narrow down to what I want to scrap and delete the others. Sometimes, there's still going to be a lot of pics but at least I can try and be judicial before hand. And now with digital, I can also print some of them in smaller sizes and more will be able to fit.

I can really really really recommend the class ( now an e book I understand) "Finding Photo Freedom" by Stacey Julian at BPC . It was not until I took this class last year, that I actually looked at my photo taking processes and the way I deal with photos after I have taken them.

I don't scrap every photo....Far from it. And I am ok with that.

Seriously....if you have the chance to take this class, do!!!! It will change the way you look at scrapbooking forever. I was never a Stacey fan particularly, I scrap a lot fancier than she does, but her theory and work flow resonated with me. A lot of what others have spoken about earlier posts, is like her system, but I found with it all in one place I was able to look at it easier.
