So I've been hearing so much about the Color Shine Gold Lame spray I just had to try it. I bought the Color Magic letters to use it with, thinking that since they were both Heidi Swapp products they'd work well together. Well, I guessed wrong!
The spray does not stick to the letters at all. I kept trying more and more layers of spray, until eventually I got the stickers covered. It never totally dried and the resist portion of the letter didn't "resist" the spray properly. It all looked very patchy. And to top it all off I had to use so many layers that the letters got too wet and it ruined the adhesive backing. I'm so disappointed! Does anyone have suggestions for what to use with the Color Magic letters? I'm really surprised that Heidi Swapp wouldn't make the spray compatible with her own products.

I don't think the Gold Lame is actually a dye. It's more of a sheen. I tried the color magic letters with the mint green spray and it worked great.

When I do my letters or any resist products from Heidi I have noticed the same thing the colors like to stick to the "resist" part.. But what I found to work really well for me is after you spray let it set for about 1 maybe 2 mins not to long and spray a little stamp cleaner onto a dry paper towel and wipe over the entire project buffing the resist portion it works wonders and picks the color up off the resist part! I'm sure you could try windex as well if you don't have a stamp cleaner because the one I have used is for staz on inks and it does the same thing! HTH

For a color change I like to use distress inks with the resist stuff.

I used ink with the resist letters and they worked fine.

So the other Color Shine colors are different? I only bought the gold. I did try to go back over the resist part and wipe it off, but since the spray wasn't drying on the rest of the letter that didn't work out very well. I will try another color or product and if it sticks go back over with the stamp cleaner once it's dried. I guess we'll see what happens. I was just so bummed because I bought these two products specifically for one layout and now I can't make my vision LOL.

I have found that any spray wrecks those letters. You have to use a stamp pad to color on them as the mist beads up and then wrecks them.

That's what the gold did, just beaded right up. Until I sprayed so much that the adhesive and paper were ruined. I guess I'll go inks only. I wish I hadn't bought the things now!

I use mists on mine but don't spray it on. I use a paint brush. That way the letters don't get soaked!

Good to know. I bought the letters, but haven't used them yet.

Lilith, that's a good tip. At the moment the only mist I have is the gold lame (I sold all my others earlier this year) but I will remember that in the future.
