Are you committed to just ONE size format? Any strictly 12 x 12 scrappers here?

I start a Dec Daily every year, then I'm torn between using the photos in my DD mini album vs on a 12 x 12 layout. Then I start a PL every Jan. and then think that I need to do some 12 x 12 layouts for my boys' albums, then just kind of fizzle out... Lately I've been wondering if I just need to re-commit to my old fashion 12 x 12 layouts that I started with years ago, and just stick to that! I start too many projects yet stay perpetually behind. And I know, it's about the process for some, rather than being caught up... I'll never be caught up, but I would like to feel more productive. Thoughts? It's wild - I'm just a lazy scrapper! Love it, but I'm too lazy these days when it comes to scrapping... (I'm also in the middle of bldg a house, so that takes up most of my time and energy -- just had to add that so you don't think I'm totally lame, ha!)

I guess what I'm thinking, but perhaps didn't articulate it well, is that maybe I should just get back to the basics when it comes to scrapping! My philosophy for 2013 is "Done is better than perfect"! Trying to set up a new, usable scrap space at my desk before the new year. I used be SO productive back in the day when I started out with Creative Memories. My goal this year is to SIMPLIFY and actually scrap!

Yes; I scrap only 12x12 format & use divided page protectors to include additional photos or memorabilia as needed. I'm a story-focused, simple, linear, cardstock-intensive, actual memorabilia, theme-challenged, non-cutesy type scrapper whose primary subject is our elementary-aged son. My goal is to capture stories of important moments & events in his life on pages that transcend time, so I mix classic patterns & versatile embellishments with cardstock & actual memorabilia. HTH & happy scrapping!

Thanks, Angela! Love your definition of your scrapping style! I think you hit the nail on the head -- I love the divided page protectors being in 12x12 albums. However, I hate feeling confined or limited to PL-style inserts and journaling cards. I think I'm just going to add my divided pp's and do my own thing! Thanks for the inspiration!

Yes I only scrap 12x12. I know myself well enough to realize I need to stick to just one type of scrapping or nothing will ever be complete.

I have 2 kids and they each have their own set of scrapbooks. That's it - I don't do special vacation albums, Christmas albums, nothing like that. I just include everything in their albums. I don't scrap chronologically but I do arrange their books in order.

I try to keep it fairly simple. I'm not a tool/gadget type of person so I don't own any cutting machines. I buy paper (lots of paper!) and embellishments, also mists and washi. I usually write my journaling instead of typing it out because it takes less time.

My scrap area is in the guest room so I have limited space. I like to purge about once a year. This year I bought a lot of scrapping stuff. So my goal is to just keep scrapping pages and use up as much as I can. No more saving paper for just that right photo. Hope that helps and good luck!

I only scrap 12 x 12 and I don't even do projects. I love scrapping my 12 x 12 pages and I finish many books being committed to this style.

Yay! I feel a bit relieved to read these replies! I start SO many projects and get nothing done! It just hit me last night that I needed to commit to one thing (basic 12 x 12 scrapping!), and let the others go! Thanks, Peas, for taking the time to reply!

I would say 95% is 8.5x11. I occasionally will do 8x8. I haven't changed since I started in 1995. The main reason is I don't want to switch to the bigger sized albums.

I LOVE the idea of Project Life, but I've been brainstorming on how to do it in a smaller size. I think I've decided on baseball card protectors and doing a month in review for the smaller things.

My recipe scrapbook is 8x8. My scrapbook from an online scrapping group is 6x6. Other than that my layouts have been 8.5 x 11. I have a 12x12 scrapbook waiting to be used someday.

I am a 12 x 12 scrapper...I take lots of pics and want to be able to put multiple pics on one page. I do like to do diff. projects like mini albums and DD albums but all my major albums are & always will be 12 x 12.

12x12 or 8 1/2x11 is 99% of what I do. I don't really 'get' mini's unless they are done for gifts. Seems like they would just pile up and be too much 'stuff'.

And this is said by the "duchess of stuff" so I guess that is saying a lot. I lots of 'stuff' but think I prefer to keep 'like' things together.

Not sure that makes sense and I do admit I have seen a lot of cute stuff out there. All the speciality things like dd and pl don't interest me BUT if I were younger maybe they would. Life just ain't all that noteworthy anymore

I'm strictly a 12x12 scrapper. 99% of my layouts are 2 pages. I also use CM albums exclusively; it's just my personal preference.

I will never be caught up but that's a problem I can live with, lol. Scrapping is my therapy and I love to linger over creating my layouts.

On the other hand I recently heard a gal in my scrap group proclaim there are perfect pages and there are finished pages. She plans to end 2013 with finished pages even if it means every page is not perfect according to her usual standards.

I don't think it's lazy at all if it means your memories are preserved and *you* are happy with them. That's all that matters.

Keep on keepin' on, lol!

I scrap primarily 12x12 but Im thinking about doing my own PL with my stash of supplies and using the 8 1/2 x11 binders and baseball card pocket pages. Im having my first child in about a month so I should have a ton to document. I also want to do a dec daily next christmas since my sweet girl will be big enough to do lots of fun stuff. If I could figure out when Im going to have time for all these plans life would be perfect.

I'm a 12x12 scrapper. I loved the idea of a December Daily, but as I'm not into a bunch of odd sized books hanging around, I copied the idea and put it into my regular album. Each 12x12 page has 4 6x6 papers, one for each day. That way I could participate in what I saw as a fun project, without throwing off my mojo.

However, I'm toying with the idea of PL. If I do that, it will be digital and I will let go of 12x12 for the 'year'(mar2013-Mar2014) and just do PL. I'll use my 12x12 stuff for completing other past years. If I want to go back and do 12x12 for the PL year, it should be simple since I will have some good journaling documented.

When I take on too much, or too many projects, I sit at my desk and wonder where to start? Then I end up not starting at all, and don't get anything done but peaing.

I used to religiously only scrap 12x12 double page layouts, and always in order so I felt guilty about being behind or wasn't sure how to adapt another size layout I saw that inspired me into my format.

But when I took Photo Freedom, I changed everything. it really should be whatever works for you. What works for me now is doing any size I want, any layout I want, whether out of order or not! By the same philopsophy, I didn't want to hold up creating layoutrs from yesterdy and getting them DONE because I was feeling guilty about not scrapping Christmas of last year yet. So if it helps you get stuff done to focus only on one size, then by all means, do that! It should be whatever works for you!

I used to do 8.5x11 only, but now am trying 12x12. I also do a DD every December. I have noticed that if I am doing DD I can't do any other scrapping. I can only focus on one thing at a time. That's why I don't do any other mini albums. It's just too much for me to focus on. lol.

For myself, I only do 12 x 12 size.

When I've done gift scrapbooks, I've done every size BUT 12 x 12. I think that's such a large size, I cannot expect someone to commit to finding space for it. So the largest gift scrapbook I ever did was 8x8 and that was for someone I knew would love it. For everyone else, I've done minis.

I've tried doing Project Life or daily projects, but I always fail at them. I guess that although I intellectually believe that daily life is important to document, when it comes down to actually doing it, I get bored.

Every once in a while, however, I will get inspired by something in daily life and whip out a page that day or the next. Last week when we had that blizzard, I did a page I called "Snow Blows" before the end of the next day. It was a fairly simple page, when I normally do fairly complex pages.

What's helped me a lot recently is taking my scrap stash apart and putting it back together in a really organized way. I'm making pages a lot faster than I was before because I know where everything is and clearing up my mess really re-energized my creativity.

Still doing CM 12 x 12 here to, I keep admiring PL and wondering if its for me, but, I think I would get behind and give up,feeling guilty about the $ spent, so I am thinking I may occasionally do a PL type layout on a 12 x 12 page when I start my 2013 album. I have always done them in chronicle order, not that I am not behind, and my family has loved looking back at how our family has evolved so much that I cannot get out of order, and I am a methodical kind of scrapbooker, lots of pictures, lot of journaling, few embellishments, although I own a LOT, and using the old CM adage 'better done than perfect' and the picture is always the most important feature. If it's not fun it wont get done so its easy does it here : )
thanks for such an interesting thread

I am 90 plus percent 12x12 scrapper. I do break it every year to make a DD in a smaller size (last year 8.5x11, this year 6x8) because I think the smaller page size enables me to get those pages done.

I only do regular layouts in 12x12 size. No PL for me.

I do like making mini books though, and those are usually like the size of a novel or smaller.

strictly a 12 x 12 page scrapper; don't do any special projects or theme albums...scrap non-chronologically but put them together in order. Since most of my LOs are now digital I've considered printing them 8x8 but haven't yet.

I'm strictly 12 x 12 scrapper for my memories and stories. I have made one 8x8 album of my cats which I love. I also using 6 x 6 for my recipes only. I also start 8x8 Dec Daily in 2010 to now which I love...but I still scraps couple 12x12 layouts for kids' albums. I realize I'm not into altered mini albums.. never turn out right for me... with three small kids not whole alot of time on hand to do that. i love everyone's PL but for me... not sure if I could just do that with so many stories to tell of my three of my kids... but I do use divider pages for some pictures i don't want to scraps but do want in the albums which i love. I also playing around with size of pictures--from 4x4 to 12x12 which I'm loving right now... I'm hoping to add text to pictures in my photo editting process in 2013.. that is my one of my goals.

I primarily scrap 12x12. I would love 8.5x11 page protector that fits in my 12x12 album though. It is nice to change it up. I just picked up the WRMK page protectors with different sized pockets for different events. I am not really interested in PL. I do minis as gifts and I have only done a few.

Yes, I'm only 12x12, and the very, very, very rare mini. I even decided to try a December Daily in 12x12, using assorted divided page protectors. For me it's all about the process, scrapping assorted memories and getting a few good stories down. Getting "caught up" is just not in my vocabulary.

12 x 12 is almost always my size. I do a few smaller books once in awhile, but other than one for DH's college class earlier this year, I can't remember when I last did one that size.

I have 2 kids and they each have their own set of scrapbooks. That's it - I don't do special vacation albums, Christmas albums, nothing like that. I just include everything in their albums.

This is me, too. Except I do scrap chronologically.
I will have a wedding/anniversary album though (haven't even finished the wedding  ). And maybe someday a heritage/family tree one but I'm soooo far behind that is a pipe dream right now.

I'm a 12 x 12 scrapper. I have made a few smaller ones, but those were to give away.

I am primarily 12x12, but getting some 6x12 and 8.5x11 page protectors to mix in has really helped me get things done. For example, I always feel like I have a couple of photos that go together but aren't big enough for a 12x12, so I stick them on a 6x12, write something and call it good. Some school papers that don't need a layout go in 8.5x11 and I call it good.

That has really freed me from feeling like I have to do great layouts for everything and gets more pictures in scrapbooks. This approach has let me finish 2011 and I'm almost finished with 2012!
