I don't usually take pictures New Year's Eve. It's just the family. We don't go anywhere, but we get together and play games and make snacks all night. I don't know why I've never thought about taking photos, but I'm thinking about doing it this year. What are your ideas or plans for New Year's Eve in terms of scrapbooking? |

NYE is also my birthday so I usually scrap a combo party/birthday. In the past when we've gone out for NYE I have pages about the parties we've attended, fireworks, etc.

Yes, I actually just finished my layout for New Year's Eve 2011! I haven't done one for every single NYE since I started scrapbooking, but if I have a photo I'll do a LO. I did 2010 and I plan to do this year as well. The page I just did is pretty simple: a single photo of my BF and I and I couple sentences about what we did (a party at a friend's house).
Even if you aren't going anywhere I think your traditional celebration at home is worth scrapping at least once. It could be fun to include a list of what games you played or what everyone's favorite snacks are, or if your kids are younger you could record how late each of them managed to stay awake. If you're into making resolutions you could also use everyone's resolutions as the journaling.

It depends if it's something scrapworthy happening on that day. This year, we're going to a huge dinner party at a friend's house and the guests will be wearing formal dinner attire AND masks (mine will be a gold glitter one, of course, reflecting the scrap trends ) and there will be a show after midnight... I'm definitely bringing the DSLR! AND I'll probably be Instagramming through the evening. lol! Let's hope the New Year's pics will be better than my Christmas ones.

I have, but only when we have done more 'low key' at home activities, never a night out on the town. |

Yes - it's whatever project the family is working on (Lego, puzzle, games), and then a shot of the kids in front of the TV as the ball drops while they're shooting confetti and blowing horns. Simple but fun. |

I usually scrapbook NYE. I never go out to celebrate but always have party hats, horns and snacks.
Last year I made my pictures black and white and used a lot of silver and gold for my pages.

I do but only because we do moonlight bowling. It's become sort of a family tradition. I probably wouldn't if we stayed home. |

Thanks for all the replies and ideas. I especially like this one:
I usually take photos and I sometimes scrap them if they turn out nice and we don't look too drunk. Lol
And I think you should scrapbook the "drunk" photos. Those are the best! You could start a whole new trend! |

I used to. My parents hosted a large, fun party until 2010. Last year they decided they'd had enough of that and rented a beach condo. It was just us (me, DH, my parents, my brother). Last year, everyone but me and my mom were sick on New Year's Eve, my brother severely ill, and it was no fun. This year, we're at the exact same condo and we are 6 people, as my brother's fiance is here too. So I am hoping for a better New Year's Eve, but still not sure it's going to be photogenic New Year's Eve. |

We always go out at midnight and bang pots and pans. We started when the kids were babies and do the same thing every year. I take other pictures also, but that is always my favorite New Year picture. |

Ha ha. I have quite a few LOs in which people look drunk, especially in the albums I did while in college. Those are ones I may choose not to let my (hypothetical) kids look at!

We have 2 elementary aged girls and at our house New Year's Eve is always our "family slumber party". We put the spare mattress on the living room floor and stay up until midnight (or however late until then we can last) watching family movies and eating food we don't usually eat. I take pics of whatever special treats we make (one year we used food coloring to frost many colored cupcakes) and then usually a photo of the movie case and then the girls snuggled on the mattress ready for a late movie. It's not a big rockin' party, but it's what we do and I just scrap it like anything else |

Well this year two of my kids are away -one at dads and one camping with a friend - so I don't know what Ds and I will do. I have those fun new year stamps from SC so you know I want to use them lol!
Is it wrong to put new year hats on the pets and take their pics so I can scrap them lol??? |

Just curious, what supplies will you use to scrap NYE? Because Saturday night I combed through an entire scrapbook store specifically for NYE supplies and the ONLY mention of NYE was a "Happy New Year" on a small sticker sheet for January. I figured manufacturers must not feel it's worth making NYE supplies. Thank goodness for things like die cutting systems where one can make their own NYE embellies!

I have done a New Years layout in the past back when I was young and single but I have very few photos of any other New Years and since the kids came along ours have been very boring at home affairs. I think if I had something really worth recording I would certainly do a New Years layout. |

I will probably be scrapping ON New Year's Eve!
I usually stay at home in front of the TV, so I don't always do a page about that. I generally do a 'summary of the year' page to close my album though.

Yes, we have a tradition to take pics right before & after midnight. My dd usually makes two signs to hold up with the two years. It's a silly tradition but we have all the photos from over the years.
I scrapbook the pics & have also had friends over to actually scrapbook on NYE. |

I think I'm going to make sure that I take some photos on NYE. Even if I just include it in my (monthly) Project Life layout, I'll have something in the scrapbook for it. I'll probably use "winter" themed papers and embellishments, and I'm thinking that some die cuts of party hats, blowers, and champagne glasses would work well. I guess it will depend on what we're doing in the photos. Happy New Year, everyone! |

I usually use generic embellishments that don't match a particular theme on all my LOs, so I do that for New Year's Eve too. I did notice that Hero Arts makes a Happy New Year stamp. I usually use glam or festive looking papers on my LO and get some metallic embellishments or stamping in there. My most recent NYE LO has silver embossed flourish stamps on it. You could use party hats from birthday embellishment sets, flourishes, calendars, numbers, fireworks, champagne glasses, anything shiny or glittery, or stars instead of specifically NYE embellishments too.
