I was looking through my washi tape drawer and realized I have several rolls of MT plain, non-patterned washi tape still in their plastic wrappers. I'm looking for ideas on how to use them.

I'm thinking I can stamp on them with Staz-On ink. Anyone try this before?

TIA

Chris

I love the plain colours for adding writing to the page, like journaling strips without the fuss of cutting tiny strips of paper.

I've used Staz-on with letter stamps and also pens. With pens I've just tried different pens on different tapes - sometimes my favourite will work (the AC precision pen) and other times I need something better for slick surfaces (AC slick writer, Copic liner or Sharpie fine point), but at least with washi there is plenty on the roll so it's okay to use an inch to try all the different inks.

I like to use them to make a striped square or mat for journaling or a picture. It is really fun to do diagonally - cover a piece of scrap card stock, then just wrap the ends around or trim them off. It works better with a heavier piece of card stock.

I use them with coordinating patterned washi, either as a bottom layer that shows through translucent bits or just as one solid stripe along with patterned ones.

One more! They are great for putting behind die cuts, especially titles.

I think you can stamp on it with regular ink, because I have done that with white medical tape and yellow electrical tape. I have also outlined my stamped images with a marker on the white tape. Haven't bought Washi yet, but the colored electrical tape was bought after I learned about washi.

Great ideas! Love the idea of writing on the tapes. That would be quick and easy for dates. And for putting behind die cuts - SO much easier than adhering bitty paper bits.

What great ideas! Thanks guys! I've only used it as journalling lines and to 'mat' my photos so far. I will definitely be trying these techniques soon.

matting pictures
journaling
covering embellishments such as veneer etc
borders

just think of it like a bit of sticky pattern paper

Can someone please tell me what MT stands for? I have seen it a few times now and I still can't figure it out I'm thinking its a brand or masking tape? Either way I want some MT washi tape lol

MT is just one of the brands of washi tape (MT = masking tape) and is made in/from Japan.

I never thought to put it behind the openings of die cuts! Will have to try that one for sure!

Great ideas, ladies. Really enjoying this thread.
