Starting PL this year...just wondering if you tend to use the general same sketch for your pages?

Well, I use all the same divided page protectors (BH style A), so that's pretty much like using the same sketch.

Although, sometimes I'll put a 4x4 photo with some journaling in a 4x6 spot, or 2 2x3 photos in a 3x4 spot.

That is what I meant....always a4x6 pic in the same spot, 3x4 cards in the same spots...just to make it easier?

So do you use your pictures to determine your layout or do you take your pictures ( and quantity) with your sketch in mind?

Thanks!

Yep, I pretty much keep it the same to keep it simple. I do add in extra layouts (usually divided protectors) when I need to since my PL album is my family album for the year.

This is how I think I am going to approach PL. How has it worked for you?

Obviously, it works great since I'm on my 4th year of scrapping PL this way. I don't necessarily take a photo a day. Some weeks I do and other weeks 1 specific event might fill the 2 page spread. I make the project my own. It evolves into what it needs to be throughout the year.

For 2012 I just used the pictures I liked best, regardless of orientation, and made it work. It worked fine for me, but it *is* a bit more work if you're having to crop photos and mat them.

This year, I'm planning to do more of a "classic" PL approach - majority landscape photos with a 3x4 journal card. If I forget and end up with the odd portrait photo, then I'll just print it 3x4. But I feel like I did fewer traditional 12x12 LOs this year, because I spent that time on PL.

I think either way can work fine, depending on how you normally take photos and how much time you want to devote to PL.

Nope I mixed things up this past year. My first year I only used Design A. I have about 5-6 different divided pocket pages to choose from and I probably used them all about 1-2 times during the year. Obviously they will last forever but I found that the ones that had vertical orientation or only 4x6 spots were needed for some weeks. It was fun putting together different ideas for those weeks.

I let my photos, ephemera decide which pocket page to use. I like to use a different one each time to help keep me on my creative toes too

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I am doing PL for 2013. But also trying to use the divided page protectors to catch up some of my other scrapbooking, while throwing in regular 12 x 12 pages for my favorite pics as well. I have a really hard time just throwing away pics from everyday, even if they don't warrant their own page, so I am hoping this will work well.

Not sure how it happened....my son was born in 2008 and have these weird lapses in what is done and not. A few months in 2008 were done, most of 2009 is done, only Christmas in 2010, not a single picture printed for 2011 and a couple of months in 2012!

I obviously don't scrap chronologically but I like my albums this way!
