going to the April Scissors and the City retreat? I thought I might drive over from NM (!) but don't know a soul...thought maybe meeting up with a pea or two might be fun!

Scissors and the City has been hosting retreats in Tucson for about 5 years. Started at the Hampton on the north side near Pages and Progress (REALLY MISS THEM) and now have moved to the Garden Inn by the airport.

I will talk with the dh tonight at dinner and make sure there are no objections to my going. He occasionally works out of town so I have to make sure he hasn't committed himself yet to that weekend.

Wow! 5-years? I wonder why they never advertised in the local scrapbook stores?
We advertised in Pages in Progress when they were open as well as the store down in Green Valley. We also advertise in a store in Mesa/Gilbert called the Scrapbook Barn. Many stores hold day crops on the weekends so we end up being competition for them... thus advertising in the stores can be challenging.
2013 will we our 6th year doing retreats.  If you haven't already, I would suggest you check out some of the pictures of past retreats on the Scissors and the City Facebook page (here). |

Scubascrapper, our retreats normally draw about 60% (or more) of the women from the Phoenix area. It's fun to get away and have a crafty weekend! We actually live in the Phoenix area but enjoy hosting our retreats in Tucson for that reason.  |

I finally signed up! I put Scubascrapper's group and Yanica to sit with. Now I just gotta get a hotel reservation. When I called this morning they did not have the group discount information available; the clerk blamed it on the early hour (6:30 a.m.); will call back later today.
Anyone need to share a hotel room?

We called and spoke to the hotel, they have the room block and have been accepting reservations but the 3rd shift was unaware. Sorry for the inconvenience and having to call twice. |
