I have an HP Photosmart 8450. Sure, it is pretty old, but it still works and is fine! Except, I went to change the ink cartridge and the the Office Max guy laughed at me when I told him Which cartridge I needed! Apparently they no longer stock it. The printer also won't recognize a flash drive anymore and only takes SD cards (not SD HC cards which is pretty much all that is sold anymore). So maybe all this combined means I need a new photo printer.
I do not plug it into my computer. I simply stick the SD card in to print, so it needs that option.
I need it to accept a flash drive as my college daughter sends me pictures to put into PL.
I need it to print 3X4 (2 on one 4X6), 4X6, 5X7 and 8X10 pictures.
I would like it to be able to print color effects: color, black and white and sepia will do although mine has many other options.
It doesn't need to be wireless....but it could be. Printing pics from my iPad to the printer would be nice (I do not have a iPhone...shock!)
I like the display screen that will show me/preview the pictures on the SD card.
I do not need faxing...scanning would be nice, but not necessary.
So.....what are your recommendations to fill my needs??
Thanks for any help!

I bought both the Selphy CP900 and Epson Artisan 837 to compare with intention of taking one back esp since CP800 wont work wireless with Mac 10.8
I too wanted one with flexibility for larger pics and wireless for droid and iOS but cost efficient. I really, really like the artisan but am torn keeping the selphy for convenience.
i've printed a good bit on both and the artisan is a little heavy on ink but at least you can buy just the color you need and have more flexibility and clarity is awesome!

The Epson Artisan looks nice and has a lot of the qualities I am looking for! I was looking myself and narrowed it to the HO Photosmart 7520. It has more features than I need, as does the Artisan, but I like both of them. may come down to price in store as well as ink refill prices.
Thanks for your input!

I also have the HP printer that you have and I am pretty sure I saw ink for it at staples.

Not sure if this will swing you or not, but Epson periodically has sales on their website for 40% ink and paper. If you sign up on their website, they will send you emails.

Well after trying both the HP 6520 and 7520in the store, I decided on the 7520. It has features on it that I don't need but being able to print from a flash drive was a must and i could do it with the 7520. Now to go figure it out!!
Scrapmomtofive....my old one had more issues than just the ink being outdated. The ink was the straw that broke the camel's back so to say! I did love that printer tho and got a lot of use out of it!
Edited to get the correct printer numbers!
