I scrap at weird times and my house doesn't get the best natural light all the time, what kind of bulbs or lights do you use to have the truest light? I have a natural light lamp but its only over the desk area and I have to bring the paper or whatever over to compare colors.... Its just too much work and I was hoping changing the over head would be better...

I know you can buy ott light bulbs for any fixture at some fabric or craft stores. I have used them before but I have a fluorescent lamp in my scraproom because I am so blind.

I have high hats, or recessed lighting in the ceiling of my scrap room and an ott light on my desk. I get pretty good daylight from the morning until about 3 PM. My house faces north and my scrap room is in the back of the house.

When you buy bulbs check the box for a "kelvin" rating. Sunlight is 5900 kelvin or there bouts. There are some other issues with lightbulbs that keep it from being a perfect solution but if you get one in the 6000 range you'll be pretty close.

Check the ones marked as "cool" or "daylight"

I use GE Reveal bulbs when possible. I just love the light they put out. I try to scrap in the light my layouts will mostly be viewed in, and they are almost always viewed in my home.

I bought natural light bulbs and WOW, what a difference! They are pricey, but worth it!

I've had an Ott desk light for several years, but thanks to this post I can now put these daylight bulbs into my flood lights in my scraproom ceiling and my whole room will be lit with daylight lighting!

Once voltagain posted what to look for (thanks so much for that Volt) I hit Google and came up with this website Although there are lots of other companies this one had the bulb I needed in a daylight version to fit my flood lights and they were extremely reasonable in cost-around $7.00 per bulb vs. $15.00 per bulb at the Ott web site.

I've learned from years of working under my Ott desk lamp that the daylight bulbs make a huge difference when it comes to color selection. I am able to view the "true" colors of paper (or whatever) instead of trying to see the colors with the yellowish cast that regular light bulbs provide.

OP I have the same problem, my paper is stored on the opposite side of the room so I had to always bring the stacks of paper with me to look at under my Ott desk lamp to choose a color. Plus, I am a nightowl so I tend to scrap at night and my scraproom is in our finished basement.

I use an Ott light desk lamp and I also have an Ott light floor lamp. Love them. I wouldn't scrap without them!
