I am participating in the rummage sale at my LSS later this month. I have gone through my stash and cleaned out the things I will never use. Please tell me what kinds of price points do you think are fair because I have never participated in something like this before. I have lots of unused SG page kits as well as several complete layouts ready for pics, cards I have made, pp and stickers I will never use, lots of gently used wooden stamps, and some 12x12 partially used sticker and embellishment sheets. I want to get rid of it I don't plan to make a ton of $$, but honestly have no idea what to price things. Thanks for any advice  | |

I typically try to price my items at least half of retail. I have done 25 sheets of name brand paper for $3-5. Stickers and embellishments bundled by theme for $2-6 for several full and/or partly used packs. Old magazine bundles for less than $5. Hope that helps. |

I have never participated in a LSS rummage sale but I would say to price things at whatever you would be willing to pay if you were the shopper. I would think that unopened packages should be sold for more than something that has been opened. If you price too high, could you lower the prices as the day went on? | |

I have done these a few times and if you really want to get rid of it, price it low. You may want to check out the others there and see what prices they have. I had all my OLD Stampin Up wood stamps set for 5 dollars and lower depending on the size, single stamps were 3 or less, most were around a dollar. Stickers were 50 cents each I didn't care which size. I went through my stacks and took out the ones I wanted and sold the rest of the packs for 4-5 dollars. Individual sheets were 10 for a dollar. I would put a bunch of like item embellishments in a baggie and price it for a dollar. Start your SG kits at 50% off, some ladies may not know or care about SG. Most of the ladies that shop are looking for great deals. I sold a ton and the lady across from me didn't sell much because her prices were too high, the ladies next to me had put paper, stickers, and embellishments in bags and sold them for 1-3 dollars a bag. They sold most of their stuff before the day was over. I made over 340 dollars but I had sold some cricut cartridges for 15.00. My LSS does them twice a year but I only participate once a year. | |

I've never been to one of these, but I'd probably be willing to pay a couple dollars each for stamps and maybe $.25 per sheet of paper. I must be out of the loop because I'm not sure what brand SG is. I don't think I'd buy the pre-made LOs or cards because to me it is more fun to make my own! | |

i have worked for a LSS in the past and so I participated in theirs in also another LSS's sale later on. My advice would be to price as low as you can without feeling robbed. I found that a lot of people (at least the few I have participated in) were looking for low low low, did I say low? prices. But because I bundled a lot of things and priced things low, I got rid of most all of my stuff and earned a large store credit. That was all I really wanted. I didn't want to take the things back home with me again. So if you have the mindset of pricing to be sure it sells, you may get rid of it all  |

I've done at least 8-10 now at my LSS. Group items, like 25-50 sheets of paper in a pack. People don't want to go through individual sheets. Group deals, like $4 each or 3 for $10, sell well. Brand names, like Studio Calico, will sell for more than non-brand names. I do mine for probably more like 80% off retail - $1-2 for punches, bags of 10-20 sticker sheets for $1, etc. I always make good money even with pricing low. | |

a somewhat related question: some of what I have to sell is magazines / softcover books (like Stamper's Sampler, Somerset Studio, special editions of these, etc.) that have a list price anywhere from $6 - $15... do you think 50% of retail is a fair price, or would you price those alot lower to just get rid of them?
I guess my question really is: with info so accessible on the internet, are people still interested in reading books / magazines?
Good question. I think I'd price those at $1-2. I still like magazines, but with all the free info out there I'm not going to pay $6 or $7 for one. | |

My theory on this and any other garage sale I am selling at is: what price do I want to lug it back home at?
That's pretty low for me. I priced entire sets of SU at $3-5. I just wanted them to go so I didn't have to have them at my house anymore.
I was really pleased with how much sold. I am planning on going thru all my stash again in March. The sale here is in May.

This is how I thought about it when I did it too - do I want to bring it all back with me or am I selling it because I don't want it any more
I priced my stuff really low and still made the most $$ off other people at the sale.
For me it wasn't about making a bunch of $, but cleaning and clearing out old things I no longer wanted.

I priced my stuff pretty cheap/to move when I sold at LSS garage sales. I also kept in mind that many of my items were available *new* with a 40% off coupon, so I needed to price lower than that for sure. I sold magazines for $1 for CK, $2 for Scrapbook Trends (and the other versions that are more book-like).
