Jeez I know I sound like a broken record lol but today I was at a big chain store looking for a CK or SE mag and saw Nada- idea books yes- mags no. Are they a thing of the past?

CK is still around, but it's nothing compared to what it used to be.

I actually let my subscription go. I get more from pinterest, You tube and this MB than I did with the mags. Feel better that I know I don't have to recycle.

Even when I did get mags, I spent more time searching online for ideas. Then I printed what I wanted instead of the "extras".

I miss magazines too but with pinterest two peas and all the blogs there probably isn't much need for them now, and frees up the budget for stash

I know! I was in ACM and didn't see one. I miss those days. I don't have an Ipad or other technology. I can't take the internet to the doctor's office or into the tub with a glass of sparkling cider.

Scrapbooks etc is long gone. CK is still around, I've seen them, along with a new idea book/mag in the last week both at B&N and BAM. Maybe it was sold out?? I dunno, they are very thin these days.

Scrapbook trends I've seen at HL, BAM and B&N, Somerset Memories is at bookstores also. There is also Scrap 365 from Britain.

The only two I usually even look at/buy are somerset memories and scrap 365. Occasionally I'll browse through scraptrends

There is still Scrapbook and Cards Today, edited by Becky Fleck (of PageMaps), and the Somerset magazine. There are also publications based in other countries (U.K., Canada, South Africa...).

I subscribe to 3 crafts magazines, but I get them delivered to my iPad. I don't have the room for all the paper issues. Digital versions work great for me. In fact, if I can't get a magazine in digital format, I don't subscribe at all.

We have a couple here in Australia, but I'm not keen on them. Couldn't even tell you the names.

I've said it before, but I still get nostalgic for Simple Scrapbooks, and CK in its heyday. I think it's passed that. I loved it when it had Becky Higgins etc.

But if I could only have one mag, it would be SS.

Northridge is still publishing Scrapbook Trends, CARDS, Create, Cricut, etc. I see all of those at Joann, Hobby Lobby, etc.

I really miss the scrap magazines! When they would come in the mail I would anticipate being able to sit on the sofa at night watching tv after dinner and dishes were done and kiddos were in bed. It makes me sad that those days are over. I was still getting Cricut mag, but I let it go.

Scrapbook and Trends magazine is available as a free download. There are some great things in that magazine. You can get it as an actual magazine, too. I just get it as a download.

I used to subscribe to three different scrapbooking magazines. I loved getting them in the mail but I found that they became the "same old thing" and I ended up giving them all up. It's actually been a couple of years since I subscribed. At first I missed them, but now I get so much inspiration from Pinterest that I wouldn't even consider buying another magazine!

I miss my magazines so much! I really hate reading things at a computer screen. Love being able to put my mags in my bag & take them wherever I want. I'm down to CK and Paper Crafts. Both, skinny versions of their former selves. I would have paid more for subscriptions to have kept them in business!

I found this too. I used to get so much out of them but it came to a point I would flip through and think - 'this again?'
Plus I felt like they were really behind the times with products and such - I would browse the 'new products' section and find things from months ago. I also felt that they went with pages that were all a similar style so all the pages looked the same to me. I get more than enough inspiration on the internet and pinterest makes it soooooo much easier to find what I like again. (I would see something in a mag, put it down then when I wanted to reference it I could never find it again.)

I get the Scrapbook & Cards mag but its Canadian. They have a reasonable shipping rate for US addresses though. A lot of the ideas I've seen but I just really love the way the ideas are presented in there. And I order copies of Scrapbook Trends from time to time. I won't subscribe but I buy back issues when they have sales. You can get the magazines for $7 on sale which is low enough for me to justify it.

The problem with Scrapbook Trends and most magazines is that they are the same people over and over. I read their blogs and I look at the galleries they usually post at and have seen their ideas by the time the magazine hits. I would rather see fresh faces in there than the same people with the same ideas and layouts every month. If they published different people and not just Studio Calico names then it might be worth my money to subscribe again.

I use to get the BHG Scrapbook magazine (can't remember the name) and to be honest, I felt like by the time I got the magainze in my hands everything was already so old (meaning I'd already seen the product or similar layout). I LOVE Pinterest. I can do it anywhere (my phone, computer or ipad) and everything I like gets stored to one convenient place. And, I've discovered so many great blogs from the online pins. @ Summerbelles, give it another try

I remember the days when I couldn't wait to get the next months issue. I've had subscriptions I've let go and now I can't tell you the last time I actually bought a mag even with a coupon.

I think they will eventually disappear but that's just my opinion. There's so much inspiration on the internet I think their customer base has dwindled considerably. While I already spend entirely too much time on my computer it sure beats having stacks and stacks of mags. I've kept a lot of my old mags and idea books so I think I'm set for life.

I just let my CK subscription expire.

The internet provides so much FREE inspiration that I can't justify spending money on a magazine subscription. The quality of CK has declined so much that I was no longer excited to see it arrive in my mailbox and it would sit on the table for a couple of days before I'd flip through it. I used to absolutely DEVOUR that magazine; now I'm lucky if I find one or two layouts in it that I like.

I miss SBE, it was my favorite I loved to read my mags in the tub, too (can't really do that with the online stuff). I still get CK, and occasionally will pick up a Scrapbook Trends mag, but only with a coupon...they are crazy expensive, IMO. Good content, but expensive.

Ditto! I love a hard copy magazine. I pick up magazines from Stampington & Co. every now and then. They have zillions of magazines they publish (even a great scrappy one) but they are a bit expensive. Gorgeous inspiration though!

Oh I certainly hope not! I LOVE a good scrapbook magazine.

Others have mentioned Scrapbook & Cards Today already, but I want to mention it again. This magazine is really FANTASTIC (and yes I'm a bit partial since I design for them LOL!). You can download the issues for free, but if you're like me and love to hold the real deal you can also subscribe to it right here.

I've picked up a few issues of Scrap 365 through Amazon. I think it is nicely done. After their first full year of publication, they have gone to bimonthly also. I'm almost afraid that everything will go online only before we know it and that will be sad.

I was at two different stores in the last two weeks looking for anything scrap mag related, including a major bookstore that has three aisles of mags. And nada for me too. Only cricut related and that was it! Makes me sad. I do like all the online resources but there is something about seeing stuff in print that I miss.

I sub to CK and ST. I really prefer having a physical magazine rather than referring to my computer. I paid the price for a year to get the physical issues of Scrapbook and Cards Today, which I loved, but couldn't justify doing it again, so now I read them free online. Would love to get a physical subscription again one day, though.

I'm another one who REALLY misses Simple Scrapbooks. In fact, I've purged all my older magazines except my issues of SS. I kept them all. The ideas still look great years later - you can scraplift from them now using modern supplies and you'd never know the designs are 'old'. I remember when I used to have subs to CK, Paperkuts, Memory Makers, SS, SE... it's a shame they're disappearing.

I have come to love Scrapbook Trends because they are up to date and I love to see the closeups of the LO's . It gives me lots of inspiration and ideas that I can use. I also only buy it with a coupon!!. I miss the good old days of the thick scrapbooking Mags!!!!

I love Scrap 365 and was also disappointed when it went bimonthly. Hopefully that will be enough to keep the magazine going, I like a lot of their content

In the UK we also have Scrapbook Magazine but it is not very good...or not to my taste anyway.

I still miss Scrapbook Inspirations- they always had interesting features and articles (Shimelle used to be on their design team). I used to read them from cover to cover as soon as I got each copy & I still re-read them quite often now, and 3 or 4 years on, most of the content doesn't look all that dated. Can't quite figure out how that went out of business and Scrapbook Magazine managed to keep going!

That's it in the UK except for about 20 different card magazines, but usually I only buy those if I like the free gift.

I really hope CK is still around in five years. I love the fact that I have something tangible in my hands when I am reading. That's the main reason I haven't caved in and bought a Kindle yet. I'm one of those that likes to hold the book and smell the pages! Of course, I haven't switched to a digital camera yet either.

Like you, Alone, I had all of those and loved them! I am going to get the subscription to Scrapbook Trends. Looked quicklyat the free online version and I think I will like it, but in the paper version. There are many things that are the same in the mags, but I find that true of lots of cardmaking and scrapbooking in general. It's all in how we put it together! And I enjoy trying to put it together in different ways. I have enough product, tools, embellishments that it's just fun trying to find new ways to use them all!
