I'm thinking about expanding out from my little Xyron, and the 510 sounds really cool. It's a good price on Amazon, anyone have experience with it? Do the magnets work? I love my baby xyron, but want something with a wider mouth. The only reason I'm leaning toward the 510 only for the magnet feature.

I have one! I LOVE it!
Actually, I had an older version of it that I had used for years. Just about a month before Christmas the handle quit turning. I debated which version of the Xyron to get as a replacement and I was so glad when DH purchase the 510 for me.
I don't have any experience with the magnetic refill, but I love the fact that you can actually add adhesive to larger pieces. My two children used my old 510 a lot for school projects.
It is one of my most used tools when it comes to adding die cuts, letters, etc. to my pages.

I believe they are essentially the same size. The 500 was the older version with no clear plastic cover on the adhesive rolls. The 510 also has interchangable cartridges and the nice little paper trimmer attached...the 500 did not.

I have both the 500 and the 510. The 500 uses only permanent and repositionable adhesive. The 510 is more versatile, and the crank is much easier to turn that the knob on the 500. I can't really comment on the magnet cartridge, because I haven't used it. I bought the 510 for the laminating cartridges, which I like.

I have the 510, but I've only used the adhesive and the laminating cartridge, which I do like. My sister used the magnet cartridge. She made magnets of her baby ultrasound to put on her fridge. They looked really cute! So I would say it works well.

I have used the magnets for pictures to place on my refrigerator as well. I thought they worked fine. I haven't tried anything really heavy though.
