I'm a pretty basic scrapper- I adore luscious patterned paper, alpha stickers and black journaling markers. Never in my scrapping life.. ( MSL ) have I ever used a punch, sissix, or have ever embossed anything.
Am I the only one? Am I missing out on something?
What are your basic must haves and why?

Summerbellies, are you still performing? How are the kiddos? It's been a LONG time.

In my "toolbox" i have a small hammer, hole punches and backing. (Yes I still do holes the old fashioned way). Black markers, pencils, x-acto knives and extra blades, Chalk inks, Rulers, Tweezers, sand paper, various adhesives, erasers, scissors.

Those are the basics along with card stock and papers.

Sandy!!!

How awesome to see a familiar Pea face here! It *has* been a long time- trying to juggle life with two little ones and my work took some doing but now that they're older, (Caden is 7 and Paige is 4 in two weeks) I've decided to get back into scrapping. I loved it so much and I've missed it.
Yes, I'm still performing- At Universal and a dinner show Called Capones.

One must-have IMO is a border punch! I don't use them on every page, but they show up enough to justify their purchase. Inks, mists, and twine are other essentials.

I read your post and said, "Really?" out loud 'cause I sure can't imagine scrapping without my punches! I'm a very simple papercrafter but I do have a few must-haves in my relatively small stash:

- Hermafix repositionable dotto adhesive is my must-have love

- Scor-Tape is a new favorite find because it's really strong and you can tear it off the roll!

- We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper

- a few fave punches like a butterfly, snowflake, 4 sizes of circle
- my silver metal ruler, huge Making Memories cutting mat and exacto knife
- Fiskars trimmer
- Silhouette Cameo - I love it so

Of course I have a huge stash of paper, letter stickers, stamps and embellishments but the above + paper is what I use every single time!

I also have embossing folders and a Cuttlebug but I could live without those if I had to.

Must haves: paper, trimmer, scissors, adhesive, pen

Prefer: patterned paper, stickers and embellishments, mostly themed, and brads.

I really like die cut titles as well, so have been using my silhouette.
I include alot of memorabilia on my pages when I have some.

Perfect layers is a matting tool - it has a ridge you place against your photo and it will allow you to cut an even mat without measuring.

My must have at a minimum are:
Patterned paper
Sharpie pen
Trimmer
ATG gun
Scissors
Letter stickers

I also like bling, border punches and buttons.

Absolute basics for me:
Trimmer
Cardstock - white, vanilla and kraft
Non-stick scissors
Adhesive
Black and brown scrapbooking pens

Things that make it onto almost all my LOs:
Patterned paper
Punches - my most-used are my circle punches, butterfly, scalloped border, and corner rounder
Thickers (and maybe mini alphas)
Printed journaling (I do about 50/50 handwritten to printed - I don't love my handwriting, but feel it's important to include it in my albums)

Basics are cardstock, trimmer (or scissors) and a black pen (or computer), but I love to branch out from there. And I still see myself as a not too fancy scrapper. For instance, on two layouts I'm working on now, I punch circles and stars out, and cut larger ones with my scissors. If I had any kind of circle cutter tool, it would be with that, but I haven't invested in those kinds of things. I also used mist on one of the two.

Seeing everyone's lists, I feel like my basics are SUPER basic.

My basics:
Paper trimmer (the big kind. I can not function those flimsy fold out kind. I need a 12x12 surface if I am going to cut anything even remotely straight)
Cardstock
Pattern Paper
A few random embellishments that vary depending on mood.

I have been scrapping for 10 years now and have yet to buy tools aside from a Cricut (which isn't use as much as it should be). I find ways to make it work without tools. Who needs a paper piercer when I have a needle

Good glue (lots of it actually), good black pen and... I don't know, washi? or scissors. And paper, of course. This is something I would take with me to a desert island (don't ask me where I would print photos, lol).

Paper cutter, corner rounder, adhesive, computer (my writing is not just ugly, but actually illegible. No, Heidi Swapp, I will not love my handwriting!).

I find myself stamping a lot, so I might add stamps and ink, although I don't need nearly as many as I have.

I don't like to spend more than 30 minutes or so on a layout, so I don't haul out my other tools as much as I should.

Bazzill cardstock - must.have.those.luscious.colors.
patterned paper - dots, florals and stripes: my go-to bunch
12x12 paper trimmer
ATG and plenty of refills
scissors
roan chestnut (?) cat's-eye chalk ink
a few flowers, a little bling
my computer and printer - printing titles and photos

I could live without everything else - but I don't want to!! (Though I'm a pretty simple scrapper!)

Patterned paper
Adhesive
Scissors & trimmer
Punches - absolute must haves for me are plain and scalloped circles in 2 or 3 sizes, star, heart, butterfly and scallop border. I use at least one of my circle punches on almost every layout.
Black, brown and grey ink
Piercing tool

Ideally I would also add washi, wood veneers (stars, if I have to pick one type), bakers twine, 3mm bling/pearls and some small stickers/label stickers to this list- cheap, versatile embellishments that will work with all kinds of things
