While I appreciate the fact that I am able to cut ttf's with my SCAL, sometimes it's overwhelming to me. I have a list of QK equivalent fonts that I normally pick from, but jeez, that's still more than 30 of those in addition to the ones I have on my Gypsy. No wonder I am leaning towards letter stickers.
So how many do you REALLY use, and what are they? And do you cut them ahead of time, or keep it custom on an "as needed" basis?
What about your other die cuts? Do you cut things ahead of time, or only as you need them?

I have mine whittle down to a list of 20, but that includes journaling fonts as well as fonts to cut.
I cut everything to order so that I don't waste time and supplies cutting something that I will never use. Even my shape dies wait until I need them. The only exception is some Kraft tags that I have precut for quick use. |

You are going to roll your eyes when I tell you this: I have over 100 QK fonts, and I believe I've used all but one of them. Have quite a few fonts from other companies too. Titles with die cut alphas have always been my thing - layouts with them all throughout my gallery. Oh - and I never pre cut anything with any of my dies - always after I select whatever else goes on the layout/card. When I'm pleased with the paper, photo placement, border, embellishment(s), etc., then I can find a color to diecut, and I can see how much room I have for a title.

I cut as I need them and tend to use the same 5-10 fonts over and over.

I use a Cameo also. I do wish there were a way to isolate a certain selection of fonts so I don't have to go through the list every time (I usually start typing the name of the font, but still...). I tend to use the same few:
BEBAS NUEUE (not sure how that's spelled)
Helvetica/Arial
ChunkFive
Hyperscriptacular
Bree Serif
Hmm considering I'm usually the tech savvy one, I think I will make this a pet project... | |

Agreed seem to collect fonts for not only cutting but typing as well and when it comes down to it I only use a few.
I do not have a cameo but can cut them with my cricut .... but generally I am lazy and just pop the storybook cart in. I do sometimes precut an alphabet if I have space on the paper thats on the mat.. hate to be wasteful and also hate to have scraps!!lol |

I have hundreds of fonts but I only use a fraction of them ... I have a difficult time deleting any of them. I think on my last try to clean them up I (maybe) got rid of 10 (out of over 700+). I think I could be called a "font junkie". I use them for die cutting with my Cameo as well as for computer journalling. I don't really have a "go to" font... it depends on the project - and yes, I do go through them to look for what is "perfect". No, I don't pre-cut anything. I cut what I need as I need it. It's half the fun of creating my layouts and cards. |

I love fonts & I have a lot that I go to on a regular basis for journaling or journaling+printed titles. With my eClips there are probably only about ten that I consider for titles, but I am still learning what it can and can't do, so I am sure that will eventually change. I also love the look of Thickers on my pages, so I still use those a lot. |

I only cut items custom as needed (probably one of the reasons I'm slow).
I "collect" fonts, too, but only use a few, because the reality is that so many have a major "cool factor" that makes me want to save them (& that's just a click to do), but the reality is that they wouldn't cut very well as titles or be very readable as a block of journaling. Then I'm too busy/lazy to go back & get rid of them.  |

Little do you realize, but you are solely responsible for my love of QK fonts, Molly! And yes, I totally believe you and have stalked you in the gallery for years. I would love to have your collection of manual dies.
Alas, I am a "mostly electronic" alpha scrapper, so I have tried to narrow down the list of QK equivalents that I will use most. I am at 32. It still seems pretty overwhelming.
My plan is to cut the name of each font in the font itself from cardstock, and make myself a flip guide for quick reference. |

Oh my heavens! No, I didn't realize. I've always loved my QK font collection and huge as it is, I'll never part with any of it. Now here's a confession...I don't own a single electronic cutter - not one. I may be the only Pea who is completely happy with manual die cutting. I do have a boatload of alpha stamps, however. I feel I'll never run out of font choices.

Letter stickers are faster and easier plus I need to use them up so I tend to look at them first. 
I have 3 sizzix sets because I got them on clearance for $10 each. I could've gotten a few more but I only picked the ones I liked the most.
If I'm going to use my cricut to cut, I tend to use my carts. I have MTC and I use it for fonts when I need something specific like when I was matching the Avonlea font for a page on our visit to 'Avonlea' (PEI) and when I wanted to do a PEI page with the logo. I tried to use if for my wedding pages but the font I originally was using and hand cutting was too delicate and it was tearing, so instead of using the printer like I did way back, I use the pen tool to draw it, then cut by hand.
No, I don't cut things ahead of time. |

I use a diecut title in probably 50% of my layouts right now. Of those, I'd say half are with fonts (I have a stash of premade titles I've been using). And I don't think I've repeated a font yet!
I have a ton installed, they were free, why not. 
But I only cut them when I need them. That's the whole beauty of a digital system to me--much less to store. I want the colors and number of letters to match what I need for the layout, so no point in doing it ahead of time--that just involves guesswork, unnecessary stress, and my time. With probably a good dollop of frustration on the other end because I either can't use them when i think i want to or don't bother and have to throw them out eventually. |

I only cut as I need them, especially since they often are welded and/or have a shadow cut too.
As far as the fonts, I too am a junkie. Half of the time, I will search somewhere like dafont.com to find just the right one. I enjoy doing that, so I don't mind spending the time searching. |

WOW, Molly! I just went to peak in your gallery to check out your titles/fonts and I must say I love so many of your pages. I've been on the hunt for heritage layouts, in particular layouts that don't all look dark, distressed and dingy. You have some very beautiful ones there! I've bookmarked you so I can go back later this wk and spend more time checking them out. So pretty!

I love collecting fonts and even if I only use them once they're worth it to keep.
Once upon a time our LSS let you use their quickcutz dies if you used c/stock you had bought from them. So I went in on a quiet day and punched out several alphabet sets in white- the idea being I could paint them if I needed a different colour. How many titles did I make using these pre-cut letters! ONE!! I think they might still be lurking in my cupboard somewhere.
Madeleine, I don't know how to link but I started a thread asking for cursive fonts to use with the Cameo and I got lots of great suggestions. It was on page one just the other day (bumped) so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Definitely try Lobster 2 and Pacifico. I just cannot stop using them!

I tend to be font collector. I have all the original quikcutz 2x2 dies, 20 sizzlet alphas, 50 or so circuit carts with alphas, SCAL with hundreds of TT pc fonts and find myself using Thickers more than anything else. The convenience factor often beats out the effort to cut my own. I will have to say that I still love the sidekick and sizzlet alphas to use up coordinated scraps on projects. | |

i am also one without an electronic die cutting machine. i use my revolution (just recently upgraded to 12 inch platform) and have about 25 fonts. i do tend to use the same several "go to" fonts - maybe 6?
i never cut ahead of time... unless i am doing a group of baby cards, then i will pre-cut all the letters.
some day i hope to get my hands on diesel (i have grand but am looking for the one size down...... it's my dream!) | |

I use my Cameo to cut titles and such. I only cut out a title when I need it for a specific project. I LOVE fonts and have downloaded a lot, but I tend to use the same 5-10 over and over lol! I am on my laptop where I don't have the fonts, but off the top of my head the ones I use the most are:

I have to admit, I have literally thousands of fonts, but not all installed on my computer. I still have hundreds installed, which gives me a nice variety. Before I start or finish a layout, I browse fonts to see which one I want to use for my pages. I like how many different options I have.
Do I use certain ones more often than others? Of course, but sometimes you just need a unique font. And I like variety.
So for me, the more fonts I have to choose from, the better. |

Love to find new great fonts for cutting. It is daunting deciding! I keep a sticky on the laptop with frequently used ones. Script Bold MT is a great welding one. |

When I create a layout, I never cut them ahead as it is hard for me to tell which one I will like till the layout is put together. If I had a cameo I would never get anything done, I can spend hours choosing the right font on a layout. I really love all my font's also and would never give them up. Although I'm not really fond of most of my Cricut fonts or slice fonts, as I don't think they look as good cut out as as the manual dies. | |

I have a wishblade so I am a font snob  I literally have over 4,000 fonts. I try not to use the same ones but some just work better than others |

I realize that I only answered part of your question in my previous post.
No, I don't cut things ahead of time, only as needed. It doesn't matter if it is a title, a tag, a decorative shape, or whatever. I want it to coordinate perfectly with my layout, and I love color. Doing things ahead of time would be a pain to store, and I probably still would not have what I want in the color I want if I did cuts ahead of time.
Some of my favorite fonts for adding variety are:
Windsong (needs thickening)
Grasshopper
Rock Art
Chachie
Cricket (needs thickening)
House-A-Rama League Night (needs thickening)
Magik
Santa's Sleigh (needs thickening)
University Roman (needs thickening)
Sharon A Classic (needs thickening)
I tried to pick less commonly recommended fonts for those who might be looking for something new or different. These fonts truly are among my favorites, though, and I really love variety.
You'll notice that several of my favorite fonts need to be thickened a little. Otherwise they are very fragile and thin, and they can break coming off the mat. I don't know what things can be done with the Silhouette software, since I use Illustrator for my design work, which lets me alter or adapt any font, and I often thicken fragile fonts just a little bit. |

I do both.
If I have more time, I will use WordMark which will show me my computer fonts for eCal and my eClips. I also do this when I want a welded font, or a specific tone to my page.
However, since I also have a lot of days when I'm busy, or it's an everyday page, I have made precut letters. I looked through my sticker letters to see what is consistently left over. I then added more of what I know we use a lot (e,t, i and n because of names). I picked my 3 favorite fonts: 1 chunky, 1 thinner, and 1 inbetween. I cut out a 12x12 page in white and black, since one of those work with most of my pages. I xyroned them, and tossed them into my letter sticker stash. It's been awesome, and I haven't bought letter stickers for a couple of years (except the 1 Thickers that I wanted to try).
I have added 2 fonts to this since, as I found I was using it, and it's so easy to go back and cut any letters that I may have run out of. I label the back of the sheet so I know what font it is.
I also have the file saved, and arranged with three sets of my modified alphabet. This way I can (and have) change the font, and cut out only 1 set if I want. Or, in the case of project specific (like Disney) I can cut a page or two of a specific font.
But I do have a ton of fonts, and I'm been using them in other ways such as journaling, and my digital Project Life. |
