A few of the "what do you consider old" and "are you a trendy scrapper" treads got me thinking.
I have a TON of embellishments that I bought on sale at Michael's after I'd decided to scrapbook my daughter's first year, but before I'd actually scrapped a single page. They're all those Recollections and Jollie layered objects ... you know, the plastic bags full of baby stick-ons and knick-knacks?
Once I started scrapping (a year later), I discovered that my style tends towards trendy, and I didn't have much use for knick-knack-y embellishments. UGH. They're SO CUTE in the package, but I've found it nearly impossible to actually use them.
I'm using them ALL THE TIME with Project Life! Need a rubber ducky to add to journaling my daughter's bath? BAM! What about an airplane to document a voyage? BAM! Robots just for fun? BAM! BAM! BAM! WHY NOT?
This is great! Anyone else discovering new uses for stash you'd long given up hope on? I'd love to hear how you use up the ugly, the tacky, and the "OMG WHY DID I BUY THIS" stuff in your stashes!

I cut up a heap of scrap paper that I loved and had been saving into 4x6 boxes all ready to pop into the divided boxes. BAM!
|Posted: 1/20/2013 3:11:56 AM|I find some of my "older" stuff looks okay in embellishment clusters and peeking out under layers that is all the trend now, and it means I don't mind using lots of expensive stash on one page that isn't going to be seen all that much, if that makes sense

I used some old 3D Christmas embellishments in my December album that were too bulky/busy for how I usually scrap. I've only done a week of PL so far (took time off for CHA challenges!), but will definitely have to keep that in mind! Sounds like a great way to use buttons and stickers and other things that haven't made it onto a layout!
|Posted: 1/20/2013 7:14:33 AM|This is the same thing I encountered....as much as I love Becky's products...I have had a ball going through my stash and making it all from that. I found a beautiful storage container I forgot about filled with a ton of brand new acrylic stamps that I never used. It was like Christmas. I had moved and finally gotten to them. i used to be a MAJOR "have to have this right now but I don't know what I'm going to do with it shopper"...I've found out how much I love stamping again and think I have found my own style. And I'm CURRENT with my Project Life...I'm using this format to catch up on by kids' books. I can still cut, embellish, adorn and make it messy or neat and clean. I lobe scrapping again.

It made me laugh too. I kept hearing Nene Lekes in my head saying it. I think I want to find some of those embellishments I never use to try in my PL album. Bam!

What can I post about?

I am using the OSnap Line of Simple Stories but have grabbed a boatload of stash that coordinates because that is how I scrap but I am going to now revisit all those stamps I just reorganized and another thread made me realize I need to scope out my Target.

I scrapbook everyday photos or those that I have a ton of after making the layout into divided page protectors, and have since before project life, but I get better page dividers now. Of course, the next time I glue anything down, I'm going to say "BAM!".
