Hey all, I am new to this forum, so forgive me if this has been asked/answered as I tried to search and could not find anything.
I am wondering how you store all your "little bits" of ephemera... such as when you buy a packet (say 7gypsies, Glitz, etc) of things and there are soooo many pieces in just a bag stapled to the cardboard hanger. I put them on my clip-it-up until I decide it's time to use some of them, but then I can't decide what to do with the ones I don't use... some packets have 20 or more pieces.
Do you put them in zip locks? small plastic containers?
I am one of those "must see it to use it" kind of people, so a LOT of my stuff is just out where I can see it rather than closed up in drawers or other solid/opaque containers.
Did I mention I have a LOT of this type of stuff since I do mostly collage type work? Thanks.

I have lots of little bits too...what I currently do is have them in some old cigar boxes, and then when I'm pulling embellishments for a project, sit the box with the flap up on my workspace...or sometimes I rummage through and pull the ones that may work, putting the rejects away after I'm done. I wish I could have everything out all the time, but my space just isn't set up for it.
You could also think about getting some clear containers (glass, plastic, vintage, whatever strikes your fancy) to put them in and then put them on a bookshelf, etc.

|Posted: 1/23/2013 1:37:54 PM|If there's still a lot, I try to close up the package with washi tape or put it in a ziplock and put it back on the Clip-It-Up. (I'm visual, too!)
Other than that, I have what i call my "bits and bobs" drawer. I keep journaling cards, labels, tags, and tiny embellishments separately (Iris cases, except for a divided drawer for veneer and brads and such), but other things go right into my drawer.

I foundI don't use mine (or forget about them) when they are in a package, so I put my bits in a tin canister and a basket so I can easily flip through them.
And welcome to the pod!

I use small plastic drawer units found in any hardware or hobby store. At last count I had 228 individual drawers, I have acquired a few more since. They are all in use. They are either labeled or I have an example attached to the outside of drawer.

Over the last year I've bought my 6 year old DD 4 sets of paper doll dress up. They come in a wooden box. After cleaning out her toy box I intended to just throw these boxes away. Then I had an idea! If I hang them on the wall they turn into perfect little shelves for washi or little bottles of embellishments! Three are 12x12 and the other 12x16, with different size shelves inside. I have yet to paint them but I am going to paint them black then glue demask paper to the inside back. To match my scrap room. Michaels and HL have little plastics bottles perfect for embellies!

I bought two white shadow type boxes or shelves with many openings. The back is solid. I have them laid out flat on my desk. One holds all my Tim Holtz stuff the other holds all my buttons. I love the look and I can just reach in and grab with I want.
I'll try and take a picture tonight and post. Don't know how but I'll try and figure it out.

|Posted: 1/23/2013 11:28:15 PM|I store mine in a few ways and always seem to be evolving.
I have a couple 10 12x12 drawer towers where I keep a lot of my stuff (paper-CS and PP, adheisives, some tools etc). I have 1 of those drawers labeled for rhinestone/gem embellishments (I have a lot), 1 for stickers, 1 for brads/eyelets.
I also have a couple multiple pant hangars and a bunch of metal hooks/clips so I can hang some stickers and other embellishments for easy access.

I have mine in a wire basket (fruit bowl sized) so I can rummage, I love to rummage. Sometimes I just tip them all out on my desk and then when I'm done I just sweep them off the table back into the bowl. This works for me, I find if they are stored away I forget about them.

I use boxes that are designed for storing beads for smaller items, organised by colour (and I have one for veneers). I also have two embroidery floss boxes from slightly bigger embellishments.

First off, WELCOME Susan. This site can be addicting.
I put any leftovers in little ziplock baggies and hang them on my Clip it Up.

Since you have a clip it up you might just want to buy little ziploc bags to put your items in so that you can clip them up again after they are opened. You can buy them in the jewelry section of most craft stores.

I also put mine in the units found in hardware dept with lots of little drawers. This has really worked well for me.
