I'll vouch for the crop, too. Very nice pace, lots of long hours to work. I can't make August due to dropping the old boy off at college, but someone needs to go to keep Scoobers in line since I can not. |

I would love to go but..............ewwwww! August in St. Louis, not so much. I lived there for 4 years and I haven't sweat so much since. I love St. Louis just not in July and August. Maybe if I take the air-conditioned plane to the air-conditioned terminal, to the air-conditioned cab, to the air-conditioned hotel and reverse when leaving it just might be doable!!! |

HaHa!!! It was so hot last summer I actually had one of those battery operated fans that goes around your neck! Seriously, dork or not I had one! It was miserable! This year will not be that bad....I hope.
Op, I'm going to check into this crop. Did they just have one last weekend? My group of friends went to one down there last weekend and had a terrific time! It was Margaritaville and sounded like it was so much fun! I wish I could have went but was really glad I had decided not to since I ended up sick. |

Any idea what the cost is? If I know far enough in advance I can save up for it.
Jeanna, we need to schedule something together!!! |

Scoobers, what in the world were you doing awake at 2 AM?
susank12, the facility is VERY nice and the hotel is adjacent to a business complex and you only have to get out briefly for a short walk to the St. Louis Bread Company (aka Panera) to get your Hazelnut coffee, your shortbread and your turkey sandwiches. (Or, was that just ME wanting all that?)
I was thinking this morning while getting ready how BUMMED I am that college drop-off is going to conflict with this for me for awhile.... |

Is it outside or something? Is that why people are concerned about the heat??

Lol - it does get pretty hot here sometimes
When U2 was here back in summer of 2011, dh and I were in line all day for general admission on a day with a heat warning. I had one of those battery operated fans that sprayed water to keep cool. They work!
And thankfully a big awning we put up over our section in line. We were very popular
I didn't realize we had so many STL peas. I am here in St. Louis and usually do a lot of my non-online scrap shopping at For Keeps Sake or archiver's. For Keep's sake is having a girl's weekend in March which I am going to, but may have to check out the August event, too.
I have never been to one of Scrapology's events, but a few of my friends go all of the time! |

Lol DukeFan. No, St. Louis heat in the summers is just plain gross. It's humid and hot and just plain nasty sometimes. I wouldn't want to go in August if there was a ton of walking around outside involved. (107 heat index + 70% humidity or whatever does not sound good)

I bet you did, lol. Did you run into any of the Rowdy Bunch? The pictures I saw they all had lime green or red rowdy tshirts, chili pepper pants and mustaches, lol. It's a crazy group

Did we run into them? I'll say! Their bank of tables backed up to ours. Our backs were to them the whole time. Did the back of their shirts say "In Memory of J Waters" or something like that? |

Scoobers / Penny, what is the name of the hotel it will be at and where is it in relation to the airport. IF I were to swing it, would it be easier for me than say what I went through to get to Branson??
Is there anything else right around there? It is before school starts for both kids so I am considering making a week out of it. Obviously they can't come to the crop so I wouldn't want them stuck in the room for 3 days!! |

HOLY COW! We sat back to back...one gal wanted the calendar my friend won and gave to me!!! Another gal had to hear my rant about what a piece of crap BMW's are these days (had a little issue with my car lately)
A little correction though to the site information. The August crop is held at the DoubleTree. Within a half mile of where we were at. She rotates hotels for some reason and frankly, I like the DoubleTree better. It's a much nicer hotel - been totally remodeled, etc.
hotel
This hotel is approximately 9 miles from the airport, they have a shuttle that goes back and forth.

ETA: There's a ton to do in St. Louis but it would require them driving to the places. The location where this event is held is really in an office park environment, not in the tourist area.
If you rented a car, they could run around the city.
Google things to do in St. Louis and you'll get a list a mile long.

Yes, that's my friends. Aren't they a funny group?! We wear our shirts in memory of our friend Jenna. She suddenly and very expectantly passed away a few years ago. She was the glue that held us all together & we've all taken loosing her very hard. She was a friend to everyone and seemed to only see the good in people. She was an amazing person! I keep thinking I'm going to stop missing her so much but it's not happening. We both had new grandbabies when she passed away. She got to see mine once a couple of days before she passed. We had been talking together about all the fun stuff we were buying for the babies and all the fun times ahead with them. Fast forward to today and we both have grandbabies due again. They are both girls and both due in May. It's so hard when I think of her and remember the fun we had planning for our little boys. Oh'she would have been the best Grandma in the world.
Sorry that got long.

I bet neither of you wonder why we are called the Rowdy Bunch after sitting next to their table |

Actually, they were pretty quiet. Wonder what they thought when we came in carrying our recycling trash cans, full of wine! Couldn't find anything else big enough to keep it cold! HAHAHAHA
Did they win the decorating prize? I can't remember. |

I'm pretty sure they did. I was trying to find the conversation we had on FB about their winnings but I can't find it now. I know they said they won quite a bit this year & I thought they won the decorating prize. The started planning & buying for that when we were at CKC last year!
I asked them what next year's theme was but they left before it was announced.
ETA: Finally found it, they didn't mention that prize. What I was thinking of is one them won the grand prize.

I know all about St. Louis heat. I only live about 50 miles away!
I just couldn't figure out why people were so worried about the heat at a crop.
