I've been stuck on this thing for about two hours tonight and nothing's getting me out of this rut...
I've tried Pinterest and the GG gallery and reg peas and I'm tired of staring at it. I think I went too randomly monochromatic and I'm not yet the best when it comes to grouping embellies so I think this LO just needs to be pulled together. The photos are too cute to not scrap.
Blah!

After a five year break, I'm back baby!!! Now help Bellies get her Groove back....

I'll walk away for a bit and come back to it later. If I still can't get it to work, I'll remove the pictures and start again

Walk away! Even leave it overnight and go back to it tomorrow. Sometimes a break can give me a fresh eye. |

Think about why I'm stuck.
No good story to tell?
Story doesn't go with the photo colour/style/feel?
Can't think of a title.
No design ideas?
Paper choices sucking.
Needs something and I don't know what.
Page design/flow not working.
Just ugly.
Figuring out what I am stuck on helps get unstuck. Getting unstuck sometimes needs:
A break.
Change a photo.
Pick one little story to tell. Sometimes I want to do too much.
Rearrange the pieces. Flip tip for bottom, side for side.
Turn layout 90 degrees.
Turn layout another 90 degrees.
Just pick something and do it!! |

Sleeping on it does wonders for me lately. I often wake up with the solution to whatever is bugging me about the LO. I guess I'm brilliant when unconscious.

Another vote for walk away, and come back with fresh eyes. Do something else in the meantime

I haven't done this too often, but a few times I've needed to just put it on a shelf and try to forget about it for a while, move on to another layout that I either have great, solid ideas for or new and inspiring products, that will gratify me with a good creative experience. Sometimes it's taken weeks for the idea to finally hit me, but when it has its been worth the wait and I was grateful that I hadn't forced it, or stopped creating while waiting for it to hit me

Walk away, work on something else or just watch TV. Sometimes the best thing to do when that happens is to do nothing at all |

Sleep on it.
If that doesn't work, I either put it away to work on it later or I start over completely.

second on what Ashley said.
There have been multiple times I've ended up adding something that was sitting on my table that didn't work for another layout.
If nothing works after awhile, walking away or working on another layout helps. Sometimes you just need to take a break and get your creativity going again.

I take a break. I've had some great "Ah-ha!" moments when I come back to a page the next day. A lot of times that involves changing out some of the supplies or the design I used though.

Great suggestions, biochemipea.
I'm a 'walk away' and sleep on it person.

I also agree with Ashley's input. I would even suggest setting it aside and moving on to something else; if you are really feeling the need to create. I will sometimes create a card or start a new page and then come back to it. |

I walk away from it for awhile. Sometimes as long as two weeks.
I look online, try to see if something can spark an idea of what to do different.
Usually I can come back and either finish it or fix it and continue. |

Set it aside... for as long as it takes... get crafty with something else and take a look at it again.

Lift yourself! Take a LO of yours that you really loved and start from there. Sometimes just taking a break will help. |

I move on. Sometimes my layouts are photos, pattern paper, title and joruanling. And I'm OK with that. Other times, I figure out something great to do with an embellishment. That might be before I move on, it might be months later. I refuse to change layouts that are more than a year old.
I don't have a Garden Girl supply cache, so I usually can't cluster things like they do. It's great when I can, but not every layout has to be awesome. |
