I really don't like the BH papers LOL! I love the page protector layouts, but I just don't like the color schemes in the kits.
So does anyone else use the page protectors and then just cut your own papers?
For instance, I want to do a scrapbook of my college days using my school colors, and I have some great papers in blue and gold. I recently moved back to the town where I went to school, my oldest is a freshman there, and we are involved in a lot of local activities that are university-related. I think it would be fun to do some "then and now" pages using my old college photos and the ones I take now.
I like the concept of PL--basically "drop in" pages that should take less time--and allow me to get back into the scrap habit now that my scraproom is unpacked and set up in our new house. I don't want to do the scrap-every-day thing, but I like the simplicity of the albums as well as the continuity of the PL look.
Soooo. . . how much work is it to do PL without the actual PL kits? Am I just going to get bored with it and give up LOL? Or will it simplify my life and help me kick-start my scrappin' mojo?

I do have a core kit and am doing weekly spreads for this year. However I am also using divided page protectors to go back and print off some of my old photos and get them in albums. I plan to add a 12x12 here and there as well. I bought some AC page protectors that are all 4x6 because I plan on doing less journaling and I can always put two 3x4 cards in one of those slots if I want.
I think if you don't buy a huge pack of page protectors you can do it as much or as little as you like. If you just add two or three of these pages to your regular album that works too!

I am on a mission so to speak. I am in the process of finalizing my new scraproom and I am attempting PL at the same time and saw OLW so I am using the word mission and using the PL format with the Simple Stories Oh Snap line to tell of my life in 2013 and how its my mission to have a great year. I bought plenty from the paper line and coordinating products in the line and I make it mine by adding my own stuff. Takes awhile but I like it alot. Kind of similar to Smash in that its about getting it down on paper while the memories are fresh. |

I too like the concept, but for 2 things, I really do not like the BH core kits and I don't EVER scrap 12x12, so I am using random journalling cards, my own 'mini' 4x4 layouts and in 8x8 format. Nothing wrong with thinking outside the box on this, it can be whatever you want it to!

I'm using the WRMK pages and my own stash with some free journaling cards mixed in.

I've been pondering it for a while now and just decided to jump in and do it. I'm not using a kit. I'm just going to use my stash. It seems like it's going to be a lot of work but I'm *trying* to stay organized. Because I don't have a photo printer at home, I'm going to print out my photos for it once a month, 1 hour photo. I'm keeping track of my notes/journaling using Onenote and a new page for each week. Every night I'm not the computer anyway so I just spend about a half hour jotting stuff down. So so far so good...but then again, I only decided to do it two weeks ago, and I'm not the most organized person who tends to always stray from my plans but I'm really going to try because I really want to do it. |
