I still have over 1k pictures from a recent Disney trip, even after a quick weed through the out of focus photos.
I just don't know where to begin. I need to get some of them printed. Obviously, I'm not going to scrap all of them. I want to do a PL style album for this trip and do dedicated 12x12/8.5x11 for only the really special pictures.
I don't want to print them all at 6x4 because, with PL style page protectors, I want to utilize the 3x4 pockets with photos.
So how would you approach tackling this project? Am I just going to have to pre-plan every spread to know what size and orientation to print the photos? Should I focus on smaller sections to make it seem more manageable? Is there an easier/faster way?
I have so much excitement to scrapbook these photos...but printing and organizing them is crampin' my mojo! | |

Can you use one of the PL planning pages, like in today's PL video? I have the same problem with lots & lots of pictures, and I'm thinking that the planner will help. | |

I think what I would do is figure out how I want to organize my album. Do I want to go day by day, place by place, other type of theme pages/organization. That would give you a starting point on how to start grouping your photos.

I'd go through and delete more of them (or move the ones you really love to a new folder) before doing anything else. Are there any that are very similar poses so you could pick just one of them to scrap?
If I were you, I think I'd try to choose a day's worth of photos at a time to work with. Then figure out which ones you want to have landscape, portrait, etc. I'm not familiar with the PL style pages, are all the photo slots oriented the same way, or are there vertical and horizontal slots on the same page? If that's the latter, that sounds much more complicated. Good luck! | |

We went to Disney for the first time two years ago and I took a ton of pictures too.
I used the WrMK pages in different styles. Whn trying to figure out which pictures to print I sketched everything out as I went through the pics so I knew which pictures would work in the pages (horizonal or vertical) and how many to print.
It was a pain trying to organize it right but then when the pictures came in, it made it easy to put the pages together, knowing which pics went where.

I made a shutterfly album fir Disney. I could change the photo size then and there. Then I printed a few of my favorites and did some LOs. That way I had the best if both worlds.

I am trying to go back and work on printing YEARS of photos so I feel you. I have been printing all my vertical shots as 3x4 unless it is something truly amazing, which I will then plan to put on a full size layout. If for some reason I really want it 4x6 and not on layout, I do have some inserts with the vertical orientation and I may just put them slightly out of order. If worse comes to worse, just pop it in there sideways?
I am also using the AC page protectors which is six horizontal 4x6 slots. I can always put two 3x4s in there but I may not want to cut a 4x6 apart as I would have to do using the BH protectors. Of course, I am trying to get it done and won't be embellishing and journaling quite as much - you may want those smaller slots for those things.
You may also want to get a photo box for the extras and not even put everything in divided protectors. At 12 per sheet 1,000 photos is almost 100 sheets! I have heard people say an average of 25 sheets per album but even if you can get 30+ in there that's three albums. | |

When I first started scrappin archival albums I had 28 years of photos. I scrapped for about 2 yrs then started to realize I would never get them all scrapped.
So..... I took someone's advice from Staci or Julie here at 2Peas. I went to HL and purchased some 8x8 archive safe albums at 50% off, cost me around $70. Each picture slot has a small journaling spot which I will get done, LOL. I Placed all my photos in, What A Breath of Fresh Air. It was so FREEING. I did put them in chronological order because my kids always ask for by date.
And guess what? My adult children still look at those as much as the pretty ones. I scrap what I want now.

Thanks for the suggestions and sympathies. I decided I just had to jump in and start somewhere!! 
So I've ruthlessly weeded pictures down from 1k+ to about 250. I figure if I start there and then find others I really want to scrap I'll have them printed later or print at home.
I decided to organize the remaining photos by day, which mostly is by park as well. I sat down with an empty album and all my divided page protectors and tons of post it notes.
I look at the page protector designs (I have various designs/orientations) and what pictures I want to put in them. I label the pp sleeves with post-its with the what the picture is and what size I've printed it as. I am then moving the digital picture into a specific folder that identifies the size. I'm mostly sticking with 6x4 and 3x4.
I'm only through day 2 of 6, and it's taken quite a few hours. I'm hopeful that this work on the front end is going to make things easier on the backend. Then I can take my time adding in the "scrapbooking" aspect and pretty up the pages. If I find that a picture or print size isn't working, I'll worry about it later and print at home.
Now any suggestions for printing services? I wanted to try persnicky but last time I looked, they were higher than most other sites. 200+ pictures might add up fast

Wow, sounds like my last Disney cruise but you are much better at weeding out photos than I am!
I always have my photos printed at Walgreens. Right now they are having a buy 25 get 25 free promotion, the coupon code is on their home page in the photo center. There is free software out there, maybe a Pea can jump in here with the name, that allows you too add photos to a 4 x6 mat in smaller sizes so when you upload to anywhere, you can have it printed like a regular photo but it is actually 2 or more smaller photos.
I print almost exclusively 4 x 6 so I've never used it but a lot of Peas do and it saves money vs actually ordering the smaller print sizes.

Photosheet is the free program, and it's wonderful! Great way to get two 3x4 prints while paying for 1 4x6.
If you hurry, Shutterfly has 101 free prints until tonight! I just ordered 150+ prints, including an enlargement, and it cost $20 after shipping. Someone posted the code here earlier. |

I feel for you! I'm in the planning stages of a Disney/San Diego album myself. Though, it sounds like you are well on your way!
As for where to buy photos, I'm SUPER picky and I usually order my 4x6s from Ritzpix. Their quality is outstanding (on par with persnickety) and if you order in bulk they are a great deal (+ free shipping on orders over $30) I HIGHLY recommend them! | |

Shucks! I missed the shutterfly post last night.
I've never used ritzpix but I've heard of them before. If I'm reading the persnickity website correctly, if over 200 pics the price is pretty competitive. I'll have to price out ritz as well.

If you have a costco membership, once your order is over 100(I think) photos the price per 4x6 automatically goes down to 9 cents. Check the amount though as it has been a while since I ordered that many at one time.

I would organize the photos into folders by categories. So for Disney it would probably go something like this: Folder called Day 1, containing subfolders Breakfast w/ Characters, Rides, Meeting Characters. Or what have you, I haven't been to Disneyland in my adult life so I'm kind of out of touch lol.
I would then have a Day 2 folder with additional categories. Then I would edit and order each folder as I felt like it. Breaking it down into little pieces has always made things like this a lot easier for me.  | |

I might still print them 4x6 and then trim down the ones that will work in the smaller size.
I try to resize before I print too so I would only pick the ones I know I want in the album and then try to crop two and put them into one 4x6 before sending to print so all I have to do is cut that in half and it already fits in the PL sleeve. |
